Drove about an hour and a half to get tattooed by my friend Matt Diehl before he moves back home to Maui. Thought I should get something that suited the situation. - - - Updated - - - Looks like when I go to San Fran next month Dan Gilsdorf will be tattooing me at Blackheart, just booked appointment, pretty stoked.

I love this story. A 50- something year old white woman arrived at her seat on a crowded flight and immediately didn't want the seat. The seat was next to a black man. Disgusted, the woman immediately summoned the flight attendant and demanded a new seat. The woman said "I cannot sit here next to this black man." The fight attendant said "Let me see if I can find another seat." After checking, the flight attendant returned and stated "Ma'am, there are no more seats in economy, but I will check with the captain and see if there is something in first class." About 10 minutes went by and the flight attendant returned and stated "The captain has confirmed that there are no more seats in economy, but there is one in first class. It is our company policy to never move a person from economy to first class, but being that it would be some sort of scandal to force a person to sit next to an UNPLEASANT person, the captain agreed to make the switch to first class." Before the woman could say anything, the attendant gestured to the black man and said, "Therefore sir, if you would so kindly retrieve your personal items, we would like to move you to the comfort of first class as the captain doesn't want you to sit next to an unpleasant person." Passengers in the seats nearby began to applause while some gave a standing ovation

I know man. It's just some general ribbing. People can do what they want, that is for damn sure. But, I, and a lot of other people here, reserve the right to think that hand/neck tats without earning them (yes, you earn the right to wear them) is a bit of a faux pas.

Hi All, I'm Jake. I'm 28, married with two kids, Jack (turns 3 next month) and Layla (turns 1 next month). I'm an ELCA Lutheran pastor in northeast North Dakota. I got my first tattoo (still my favorite) when I was 16; a sacred heart on back of my shoulder. I'm starting a sleeve that is a tribute for my family. ladybug for my daughter: ship for my son: anchor for my wife: rose for my mom: wrenches and socket for my dad: diamond for my brother: heart for lost loved ones: Outlines took two sessions, and I'll start filling color on August 9. Eventually it'll be a full sleeve, but am leaving the area near my shoulder open for the time being to allow pieces to be added to it. Thanks for looking! Jake

Finished up the flaming sperm whale on the back of my leg. Survived the knee ditch without magic soap. Jesus. Christ. I got my very first this past Thursday! I planned it out for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It's a Doozer from the show Fraggle Rock. I got it because that's what all of my family calls me and it's just who I am. I went with the ribs, pretty nice spot to start my tattooed life with! My artist was Josh from Lucky Rabbit (Muncie, IN) and he did a bad ass job!

Just a thought......scabbing depends on the artist. (and of coarse, placement, and how much of a filthy motherfucker you are) The technical ability of the artist also goes into the healing process. Ever got a scratcher tattoo? Thick fucking scabs. Ever been tattooed by an ARTIST that knows what they are doing? Light scabbing to no scabbing. And just to point out the obvious, that many have seemed to fail to mention, scabs serve a purpose! Protection! The Natural healing process. Hope I didn't piss anyone off. (but if I did G.F.Y., lol)

Let's all agree to let this thread die the same natural death it did a year ago.

I figured that while in California I should look up some other shop locations. Who knew that Spider Murphys was not too far from S.F?!? I just booked in with Stuart Cripwell for one of his great moths. This trip is going to be awesome!

A little clarification to my previously blunt post- the execution of the tattoo is more than acceptable. there's clean linework and shading. the style is what I have issues with. the blue tribal wave background stuff takes away from the tattoo in my opinion. I second the other LSTers opinions though that if you put a bunch of other tattoos around it you won't even notice anymore. Also considering it's on your hand it will probably age much faster than a place like your thigh. Constant exposure to sun/cuts/chemicals/etc.

You want honesty? That's nothing I'd want on my hand.
