Honestly, if you have the most unique tattoo in the world, it's probably not a good tattoo. There is a reason all those things you mentioned are popular and fairly common tattoos.5 points -
did a pretty cool pool workout yesterday. 60 lb kb walked from shallow to deep(underwater) touched wall and walked back to shallow then had 15 lb kb in middle of deep end tread water to fail then sink and do squat jumps for sets of 10 where you propel yourself out of water each rep. did several rds of this then 15 laps.4 points

Names Shmames. Looks great, and if you love it, that's all that matters. And if you've got a local shop churning out quality tattoos, you're in a great position. Well done and don't be afraid to post the next ones up!4 points -

I'm ignoring everyone's advice LOL and going to try a programme based around the DiFranco template that I've been looking at. I feel like leaning out a little is one of my priorities at the moment, along with staying injury-free, and I also just want to work in more variety. 3 days a week training combining a lifting and conditioning, and 1 day a week stickfighting / escrima. Should be plenty of rest if nothing else. So it'll look like this:- UPPER BODY DAY 1 -Bench -Supplementary DB bench (2 high rep sets, aiming for about 20 reps on the first set) - Horizontal row / Tricep pushdown 4x12-15 superset - Supplementary shoulder work superset 3x8-10 superset (Bit of rest) -Conditioning 10-15 minutes LOWER BODY DAY -Dynamic leg exercise (kneeling jump ups with med ball, DB squat jumps etc) 3 / 4 sets -Single leg squat 4 / 5 sets each side -Posterior chain (RDLs etc) 4 / 5 sets -Anti-rotational core work (Bit of rest) CONDITIONING 10-15 minutes UPPER BODY DAY 2 -Pull ups (Thinking ladders, max + ascending percentage based number of reps or simply 5x10) -Supplementary pulling / incline pressing superset 4 x high rep sets, as day 1 -Tricep / bicep superset 4 x 8-12 -Core circuit (Bit of rest) CONDITIONING 10-15 minutes I did day 1 on Wednesday and I'll be hitting the lower body day in about an hour. On Wednesday I did a barbell complex for 2 rounds as the conditioning, felt fried afterwards. Overall felt like a good session. In general though my plan for the conditioning elements is to stick to short runs (like a mile or two, pushing myself on times), maybe tabata sprints if I get a timer and probably bodyweight circuits, skipping etc. As staying injury free is a priority for me at the moment I really want to maintain quality of movement even though I will be pushing myself in the conditioning. If the above, combined with eating a bit cleaner, results in me cutting 2 kg or so over the next few months I'll be happy. I feel like I gained some quality upper body muscle doing GVT but I also gained some flab with it. My own fault. Re: The eating, I'm trying to control my carb intake a little better. Crucially I've also banned myself from drinking during the week. Having even 1 beer a night after coming home from work was probably adding up to a lot of empty calories over the course of a month or so.2 points

ain't nothing wrong with that. there are plenty of peonies, panthers, skulls, roses, snakes, eagles, dragons, lady heads, blah blah blah, and yet they all still make awesome tattoos. you don't need to have the most unique tattoo in the world to have a good tattoo!2 points

I met a chick once who asked if she could lick my tattoos. After brief consideration I obviously consented. Other than that, the only people who are like "your tattoos are stupid, quit getting them" are my friends, because I'm always broke. I need new friends. Or a sugar daddy. Any takers?2 points

So I had to go back a bit to find the first time you mentioned this (a month ago), so we're looking at healed pics. I agree, blowout-happens in places where there's thin skin and the ink hits capillaries. Pretty sure when the color goes in, it'll minimize that. And it should fade some. Do you have a pic of the whole thing?1 point

High Risk High Reward Tattoo Ideas
CultExciter reacted to slayer9019 for a topic
How about the word's "Worst Poker Player" on your face. High risk = It's on your face High reward = People think you make terrible decisions and you are bad at poker so you can bluff easier Kidding aside, a "man's ruin" tattoo would be awesome or what @CultExciter said, but maybe it could be "worst possible set of cards with the word 'All in' in a banner"1 point -

Losing a Parent
Colored Guy reacted to ShawnPorter for a topic
I lost my mother two years ago (this month) and I tell you... It's something that I've learned to deal with but am not really the same after. My Mom was a spitfire- 5'1" of Southern Baptist with a heart of gold. When I was a teenager she rewarded me for graduating early by lying to a tattooer (said I was 17 instead of 15) to get my first tattoo. Over the years she supported me in my endeavors no matter how strange, and was my biggest cheerleader. I am who I am because my mother was who she was; little mannerisms or phrases, values she instilled in me carving out the adult I've become. I miss being able to talk to her, but years of her advice and her guiding me towards the right decisions have paid off and I'm stronger because of her. Mourn your Dad, but let his memory ease your burden. My condolences to you and your family right now.1 point -

Tattoo Removal Cream
slayer9019 reacted to Ursula for a topic
I actually met a chick a few weeks ago that has been using one of those creams. Her tattoo is faded. It's not faded much, but it is faded. She said it hurts pretty bad when you put the cream on, and that essentially it's just a very acidic cream that burns away your skin I guess. If you get the cream on non tattooed areas of skin it lightens that too, she's got weird patches around the tattoo. By the look and sounds of it, it's going to take a long fucking time to get it light enough to cover (it's a big tattoo with lots of solid areas). She thinks laser is too expensive and painful but in the end it's probably way more worth the higher up front cost of laser to get it done quickly and more efficiently.1 point -

Ancor chain
johnshocks reacted to Kev for a topic
Simon Erl does killer chains: But once again, pointless if the artist can't draw/tattoo a chain. "Currently I am having a kraken taking down a ship tattooed it is basically a full front in a very simple traditional style. Was hoping to get some opinions on how a traditional style anchor chain would translate as a tattoo, my artist suggested to put a chain instead of rope." - How big is this chain supposed to be? The primary images in that design are 1) the Kraken 2) the ship. Those are the elements people should focus on. Rope vs. chain? What about the riggings? Windows? suction cups on the tentacles?1 point -

Damn, I am really sorry to hear that. I have a tattoo from a well-respected artist with some blown-out lines. Is this outline only for you? If so, and if it's an Americana piece, they may be able to be minimized with shading, but I'm not an artist, so I'm partially talking out of my ass. However, I've seen a fair amount of outlines that look pretty rough, only to end up looking incredible. Sometimes, it's not about how clean the end result is, but how powerful. I wish you the best of luck!1 point

Ink Masters
Sailor Kimy reacted to David Flores for a topic
Good Points. Celebrity host is just so viewers have a familiar face, since most people without tattoos don't follow careers of tattooers. I guess as far as judging I guess it just depends on the person. Even people that get tattooed by good people don't necessarily know anything about tattooing, some people just get lucky or are famous enough to fall into the right shop. Personally I think they would be better off bringing back Tattoo Wars. It was a more even playing field and seemed to attract better tattooers and it's always in the particular tattooers style so it sets the clients up to get better work. Either that or make a show called Scratchers and use the theme music from COPS.1 point -
Ink Masters
Sailor Kimy reacted to Abellve for a topic
I remember when I was doing my first tattoos early in my apprenticeship, Joe was looking over my shoulder. He and my mentor are friends. I can say this -- he's definitely a competent and vocal judge of tattoos and the people doing them. He knows his stuff in an objective sense. I am bummed to see him tied to this show. I personally find it unwatchable but they've obviously chosen people based on their appeal to the reality/drama crowd. They all say the same thing..."I've been tattooing for 2 years, it just kinda fell into my lap." right, so you've been tattooing since it blew up and someone with more love for money than tattooing gave you an "apprenticeship". If you've been tattooing for 2 years, stop chasing a camera and do the job. There's a toilet that needs to be cleaned, a floor to be vacuumed and those roses and finger waves aren't going to draw themselves. Perfect your craft. These people don't give a shit about being *good* at tattooing, they want to be *known* for tattooing. Best...pssh.1 point -

Don't you think you should GET some traditional tattoos before you try to write a book on the subject?? Your line-up of contributors sucks. I watch Miami Ink A LOT, and I haven't even heard of ONE of those people. Utterly fails the tattoo cool test. You probably don't even drink. What are you, vegan? Um, wanna make a TV show about the book?1 point
