  3. First of all, the guy takes me in early for my appointment. WTF? Then he has the nerve to have my tattoo already drawn up and looking perfect. The SOB even takes the time to work with me on size and placement. While he's tattooing me, he has a great conversation with my wife and treats her super nicely. Fucking unbelievable. He takes his time and gives me a gorgeous new tattoo, all the while acting like a consummate professional. Something has to be done about this guy. He's too nice, too professional, and too damn good.

  4. Here's what Lindsey Carmichael of Gold Rush did on my arm yesterday. Killer filler! He squeezed this in-between a few existing skulls. The arm is filling in nicely!

  5. I just have to add that not only is he a man of questionable character, his wife crashed my husband's truck.

  6. Got tattooed today by Doc Price in Plymouth, UK. Doc has been tattooing for over 50 years. A truly lovely man. It was a real privilege to listen to Doc telling some tales about his time as a tattooer. There can’t be many places where you can get a tattoo while sitting only three feet away from an original Paul Rogers Tattoo machine displayed on the wall.

  7. @Musashi, yeah, you got my heart started this morning! Glad you had such a good experience with Nick, and the work looks great! Shit, he even puts up with my kids leaning over his shoulder to watch and me moaning and groaning! And I sent him a link to this so HE can have a heart attack too!!!!!

    My Laser Chronicles....

took a new pic, here's a few pictures from the past month... June 2 June 21 Today- July 7 Technically this past session shouldn't really start to fade until the 6 week mark so between that and what it should fade from one more session I should be good to go. So glad I went through with this and I'll be happier once the new tattoo gets started :D

  28. I'm thinking maybe some collage art of fallen scabs...got to be SOME use for them other than littering the bathroom floor! I can always tell which section is healing by what color scabs are on the drain after my shower. Now maybe THAT'S something a non-apprenticed type "artist" could do to get into the tattooing world!

  31. Ok, @Brian Wermund, it seems silly to send you the link to the newbie guidelines since I'd be willing to bet you crafted this thread to specifically skirt all the rules about posting. But here it is: Last Sparrow Tattoo - Newbie Guidelines Not sure if you've received any PMs from the other mods on here but I'd expect one sooner rather than later. LST is a place to learn and it is a place to ask questions. It is not a place to post (not so) thinly veiled attempts to pat yourself on the back for tattooing out of your house and getting thrown out of a shop and pretending to be butthurt when strangers on the internet tell you you're wrong. I'm sure the experience won't change a thing. Anyway, I know stirring shit up online is fun in between appointments at the kitchen table, but maybe instead you can use that time to get your hands on some books and magazines or even take a look around the site. Through a little research you might notice that most people who were relegated to tattooing at home were either 15 or shortly thereafter were able to land a proper apprenticeship where they said, "Holy shit, thank god I'm on the right track." I've wasted way too much time on this response. And probably been way too nice. Just do us all a favor and stop trolling for a reaction. - - - Updated - - - Also, go get tattooed. At a shop.

  37. I wasn't sure where to put this, but July 3rd, Thomas Hooper stopped through town to take part in local restaurant Frank's monthly art mural. Part of the opening was a meet and greet with free food and limited edition two color screen prints (I think there was 50 made total) 1)Me in front of Hooper's mural to give you an idea of scale: 2&3)The Industry Print crew running the screens and Mr. Hooper: 4)My framed (and signed) Thomas Hooper screen print:

  39. I (randomly) ended up looking at some Yelp tattoo reviews of a studio this morning - it just popped up in my search results and I read them. Amazing how many reviews involved people saying they had a 'bad' or at least 'less than ideal' experience because they didn't "connect" with their tattooer. One even commented that if she was going to have to spend 3-4 hours with them then it was important to her that she be able to relate to them as a person. A couple make reference only to the 'personality free zone' that was their tattooer. It makes me think of someone rejecting their architect on the basis of their personality (not necessarily their customer service). "Hmm, the plans look great and it's got all the features incorporated I asked for... But Tom is just a personality-free zone in our meetings, and I can't identify with him on a deep enough emotional level."

  41. Been a while since I last posted, but yesterday I finally, finally, finally got to start my ROA backpiece. First session finished and the main part of the outline is done! I meant to get started on this tattoo at the 1st of April, but got sidelined with some back and hip issues. It's a crappy cellphone pic and I wasn't exactly standing up straight, but you can get the general jest of it. The ribs and lower back portion hurt like Hell, but it was well worth it. I'm pretty stoked about it. Tattooed by Paul Pearson at Tried & True Tattoo in Smyrna Tn. (and there's a cover-up of an old 101st Airborne tattoo going on in there too).

    Appointment Cards

I just posted a picture of one of my appointment cards on Latest Tattoo Lowdown. @MadeIndelible posted a picture of one of his from Spider Murphy. Theres some really nice artwork on these cards. Does anybody else keep their cards? I'll get the ball rolling with a couple of mine. 2011 & 2012 from Frith Street. I don't know who did the artwork on these, but I'll try and find out.

  43. I think Emiliano painted the eagle and daggers. Stefano set up the artwork for the printer. The Tattoo City rip-off was a combined effort: I did the main lettering, the dragon, scroll, some of the roses and the whole of the reverse. Valerie did the girl and rose. Jordan did a rose. Stefano did the skull & hat. Emiliano did the address lettering and "tattoo" wording. We have a new flyer/appointment card roughly every 12 months. The current one was painted by Valerie. It's lovely.
