  1. Independence Day peacock walk-in from Zach Nelligan @ Triple Crown Tattoo

  2. I cam across TattooDonkey.com like 6 months ago when I got a notification about some images being posted elsewhere on the international web.... So, I check it out, ok... NBD just a few photos, then... I notice you can also down load this shit... Then it wasn't until yesterday that Eric Perfect posted some shit up about him having flash posted there and being sold in downloads, only catch is, he didn't post the pics, nor authorize it, or consent.... Three different lawyers and last night I was like ahh, still, even though the lawyers are like it's not worth worrying about, I was freaking out... Our Art work literally is what feeds, clothes, and shelters us... And we bust ass... So this was like another shit nail in the coffin. And this has been the case with not only FLASH, but Fine Art Print Reproductions, Photos of Originals, and photos of tattoos and tattoos being done, as well as crap drawings, and then the creepy family pics people are finding that this site, went in and harvested and downloaded all these pics with noe ones consent or knowing, immediately turnaround upload and post to their site with a high resolution download that anyone can buy take and use, fuck the originator of said image right?...And they did this and had staff reupload, and they knew all along that they had not notified anyone about this... But by posting on their site that is was user created shared database, is completely fraudulent... BUSTED. If you have time, go to that site.... Start keywording any work you may have put online, had someone else put in a blog, etc,,, last name suffices usually... Copy and pastse all this stuff together and then you will need to submit it all back to the company and do it fast before they take everyone shit down so they can claim it was just pulled we had no idea.... I even saw images that had the Last Sparrow Tattoo mark on it, which means they came to this site, and harvested everyones photos... Ours includes... So... Tattoo Donkey and something like this: To: [email protected] From: (YOUR NAME) and EMAIL Subject: DMCA notice, site stealing major content CC: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] First of all, if you even have lawyers, you should have been told that you do not qualify for "safe harbor" protection under the DMCA. Your site "tattoodonkey.com" is posting thousands of photos of other people and other people's art without any permission, and it is very obvious that you are wholly aware of this. You are not operating in good faith and can not hide behind the DMCA. What are you doing is wholly illegal under US and International law. You surely know that, and your "disclaimer" in no way protects you. Because you are charging for these photos and also filing them under my and other people's trademarks, you are putting yourself up for a great many damages. You are using many pictures stolen without permission of me, from my website, and I would wager that not even one percent of the photos you are using are legal. In fact, I would go so far as to say that every single image on the site is stolen. Your site actually came to my attention because of the vast number of tattoo artists upset at the thefts of their photos and designs. There are few well-known -- or even lesser known -- artists who won't find their material stolen on your site. The following images, and I suspect many others that I have not found, are mine and I insist that they are removed immediately. Attach list of links to images not rightfully posted that belong to you... then send it off... Ahh, I can sleep better tonight, this stuff was fucking with me hard last night.

  3. This thread contains pictures of German SS Officers tattooed by Christian Warlich . I think we are all sensible enough thats there's no need to address the Nazi equation , after all if I didn't mention it ,its not apparent . Anyway thanks to kind permission by Bill Loika heres a rare glimpse of some great old pics.

  4. When a shop is looking for a tattooer usually there is some fine print about no scratchers no wannabe apprentices , must have 5 years experience. So maybe that is why your story about tattooing a strippers rib with a kit you bought from the mall with no supervision as your first tattoo didn't win them over. Reading your posts you come off like a guy who is really trying to be cool and justify the path as a kitchen magician that you have chosen and gain some sort of acceptance in the tattoo world. But the more you talk the less people think of you, my only advice would be to talk less, listen more.

Part of the opening was a meet and greet with free food and limited edition two color screen prints (I think there was 50 made total) 1)Me in front of Hooper's mural to give you an idea of scale: 2&3)The Industry Print crew running the screens and Mr. Hooper: 4)My framed (and signed) Thomas Hooper screen print:

  9. It is true a lot of people did start out tattooing out of there house. Keep in mind that the stuff in the tattoo artist interviews happened a long time ago. It's was a lot different when there was only a handful of shops even in major cities. There are a lot more tattoo shops and people tattooing out there. Most tattooers think there are too many people tattooing and i have heard dozens openly advertise that there are not apprenticing people for tattooing because of this. I don't think it's anything personal, it's just a conscious effort in self preservation. Even when they hire shop help it is with the understanding that it's a dead end job and will not result in you learning to tattoo, so even scrubbing toilets isn't going to work anymore. when a shop is hiring a tattooer, it's not an open casting for a tattoo apprentice, they are putting the ad out there to get people in other established shops thinking about if they want to relocate or in some cases looking for tattooers who have been working hard at a shop for a few years to step up their game and be good enough to work at a better shop. Trying to talk your way into a job is a lost cause. I am not saying it's impossible to become a tattooer, but it sure isn't going to be handed to anyone who walks in the door on a random wednesday.

  11. here's my take: i'm not a tattooer. with that said, i've got the utmost respect for the craft. if i ever had aspirations to become a tattooer, i'd do everything in my power to go about it the right way, and in an honest way. i'm not trying to be a dick, but you've gotta put yourselves in their shoes for a second. you're going into their shop trying to learn something from them, almost trying to take the easy way in learning things. if i were a tattooer, i'd treat you the same way. to them, who the hell are you? you're some dude, walking in, attempting to take their hard earned secrets and knowledge without any of the work. the same could be said of any craft. you're trying to leech knowledge off of them. even if you're doing everything sterile out of your home, you're still not doing things the right way. you need to keep that in mind. scratching is scratching. anyway that you cut it, it's still scratching.

  13. Yeah, don't be a scratcher. Don't be everything that established tattooers who care about their industry hate and expect to be treated like a welcome guest. Our job is to do good work and protect our craft, not pass on bits of information and make you feel welcome or applaud you for having the courage to openly be a hack.

  14. Your dagger's just fine, but based on your experience, I wouldn't go back to that artist. And I know that politeness runs deep in Canadians, but you don't have to be so polite next time. It's your tattoo, and you're the one who has to live with it.

  16. @David Flores gave the best advice anyone could give about anything in life really. Talk less, listen more. I was going to post earlier and say that but I didn't really want to make enough effort to post a reply. Largely due to exercising that exact motto. The sooner that any and all people start to become less self involved and stop thinking that anything they do is important, then the sooner we all start to benefit. I'd also say look up the word humble or humility and then meditate on that until it is the starting point of all of your thoughts.

  17. I used to cover up at work, I worked for a VERY conservative church as an office manager, I had to interact with food pantry/ clothing closet clients on a daily basis. We were told to dress nicely but not "superior". So things like jeans with no holes and a polo shirt were ok. No visible tattoos or piercings. Well the ac died in the building and it was 105 outside, so I wore a skirt and a nice shirt forgetting about the policy. I have my calf done as well as my foot. I showed up to work that day and so did the board. After seeing that my tattoos were not offensive, and they were actually a good talking point between myself and some of our regulars, they amended the policy. I realize this is the exception, I never in a million years would have thought they would amend the policy, in fact I was preparing to be fired. Now I work in a bakery, but don't deal with clients anymore, you can see my newly acquired back piece through my chef coat, but no one seems to care.

  19. There are too many contridictions for me to cover them all but I will get to one or two. First you said that yoy are walking in the shop like anyone shopping for a tattoo but most people don't go in and say I can't wait to learn something from you. Second you said you don't expect that people are going to be welcoming to a scratcher but you then get hurt over a response as such.

Apparently when I emailed him a long time back I asked for a panther fighting a snake. Looks like that's what we are doing. So fucking excited.

  25. Ok. I will go first. "When the inside of the arm isn't tattooed." Sorry, it's just a pet-peeve of mine -- people calling something a 'half-sleeve' when the inside of the bicep area isn't done. I've even heard people refer to a "Quarter sleeve" when someone just had a tattoo on his shoulder. In my way of thinking there isn't such a thing as a 'quarter sleeve'. You don't even start measuring til you got a real 'half-sleeve'. Then you can have a "three -quarter" or in Japanese vernacular a "7/10s". Then a full sleeve. Or "10/10s" Please, weigh in.

  26. I don't have any clue, I just get tattooed. Don't get me wrong I obsess about tattooing and talk about a lot of aspects of tattooing just not the terminology of arm tattoos. Sleeve and half sleeve have kind of become one of those slang words that make you cringe. But I will admit it is part of the tattoo vocab and use the terms at time for lack of a better term. But most of the time I hear any of these terms it's from someone with no tattoos. As far as Japanese stuff goes the different variations of coverage are pretty interesting. I think it was Taki's book Bushido that breaks a lot of that stuff down. There seems to be more purpose, a method to the madness if you will. Similar concept just more interesting in my opinion.

  29. Working on finding a person who can give you an exceptional tattoo and not worry about the dagger for awhile. There may be something that could be done to make look better, but at this point if you go around looking for someone to fix it, you probably aren't going to find someone good interested in that project. You may find someone who just wants your money and won't be able to improve your tattoo. However if you find a good tattooer or tattoo shop and become a regular client they might be more likely to fix it if there is anything that can be done. If they say it can't be done at least at that point you could trust their opinion and at least you found a place to get good tattoos.

  30. There's a Bruce Lee quote I recite all the time that can be applied to the idea of a one off tattoo over flash or such - '' Just be ordinary and nothing special. Eat your food move your bowels, pass water and when you're tired ,go down and lie .The ignorant will laugh at me ,but the wise will understand ".

  31. But this isn't work of a scratcher...everything I do is sterile and wrapped up....machine, cord, table, green soap, all that shit gets wiped down and wrapped up. ...yes i am working out of an apartment but not everyone learned in the shop when they began....i walked into the shop like any person shopping for a tattoo would....i was just checking out the spot and getting a feel for one of local spots....nothing wrong with that just like any collector would...maybe i am shopping around for work that i find interesting....i told her i am soaking it all up...tonight i just soaked up something that didn't fit...just thought it was weird response to say i won't tattoo you if you are trying to learn something...shit keep your secrets...i'll will find my own....tattoo me blindfolded i will still learn something...i am not expecting any welcome mat or any applause for my courageness to be a hack...i do good work that i am proud of and my clients are happy with....is all the work fantastic no but its way early and its a long road...namaste

  32. I have to say that YOU make that tattoo look very cool. Tattoos don't make cool as much as the "Individual" can and YOU pull it off perfect! I don't mean this in a "horney old man" kind of way either. You appear as the kind of people who keep tattoos cultural, THANK YOU FOR THAT.

  43. I think it is a product of culture(s) today. Many of us (I'm as much to blame as anyone), use Google to figure out what ailment we have, use Yelp to figure out what restaurant to eat at, use Amazon reviews to figure out which pair of headphones is best. There is no problem with word of mouth, but there becomes a point when people no longer use their intuition and best judgement to make decisions, and instead opt for the majority rule. We no longer let ourselves experience anything. Unfortunately, Orwell's and Huxley's premonitions are starting to render themselves true.

Weird moment recognising the guy from Stewart's blog with the Saga/Reinke sleeves - those are some awesome looking tattoos (sorry if I'm being weird again and you're reading this, ha!).

It's similar to the "hot soak" method that's popular in Japan. About an hour after I get tattooed, I get the water as hot as I can stand it and either take a hot shower or soak in a hot bath for about 10 minutes. It usually hurts worse than the tattoo itself, at least at first, but the pain subsides fairly quickly. I've had great results with healing tattoos this way.
