1. Super fun day yesterday, my friend and I went down to Gold Rush to get tattooed by Tim Hendricks... I went first and joined the spider/web club with some filler in my armpit My buddy was going to get a rose and one of Tim's Cholo girl heads but only had time to do the rose, he'll go back sometime soon to get the girl... Drawing it on.. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the finished rose but I doubt I need to convince anyone how great it looked. All in all it was an amazing day. Tim, Lindsey and the rest of the Gold Rush crew were great people to be around and the whole shop was on a super positive vibe. It was a great tattoo experience that I'll remember for a long time....

  3. Spider Murphy's has some pretty sweet appointment cards, for what it's worth. Some pics (these are from an appointment I made last year that I, sadly, had to cancel; I should be going back soon since I have a new job and some money): And to keep this post on topic, what are you getting done at Frith Street, @jade1955 ?

    Appointment Cards

I just posted a picture of one of my appointment cards on Latest Tattoo Lowdown. @MadeIndelible posted a picture of one of his from Spider Murphy. Theres some really nice artwork on these cards. Does anybody else keep their cards? I'll get the ball rolling with a couple of mine. 2011 & 2012 from Frith Street. I don't know who did the artwork on these, but I'll try and find out.

  6. Totally cool. I hope you didn't feel like I was attacking you in any way, it was not my intention. I liked what you had to say and I would never bring any negativity to this forum. You're correct about the tattoos not being the best on the tv shows. Some of the clients they would give us were very hard to work with and wanted really odd tattoos. The phrase "polishing a turd" word come to mind often... It tested ones patience.

I won't argue with you about the TV show. I have to disagree with the one part about Ami's tattooing skills, here is a photo of a tattoo he recently finished in Miami, it took him under a month and he texted the pics to a few friends. He is very far from a bad tattooer. FYI: He drew the whole dragon side on with a pen

  9. I think Emiliano painted the eagle and daggers. Stefano set up the artwork for the printer. The Tattoo City rip-off was a combined effort: I did the main lettering, the dragon, scroll, some of the roses and the whole of the reverse. Valerie did the girl and rose. Jordan did a rose. Stefano did the skull & hat. Emiliano did the address lettering and "tattoo" wording. We have a new flyer/appointment card roughly every 12 months. The current one was painted by Valerie. It's lovely.

i think it'd be awesome to put together a set of flash of all the unrealized tattoo ideas on LST in hopes to get them someday realized.

  12. Looks like a no from what I'm gathering. He's in it to make money (his words) and get all the hard earned information he can Google. His apprenticeship didn't move fast enough so he decided to throw it away and kickstart a career in his apartment. Time has already told. You are indeed a scratcher. Here, you may not find what you're looking for exactly but there's a good chance you'll find what you should -- if you heed what experienced and established tattooers have to offer instead of throwing out whatever doesn't fit with your idea of how it should go.

  13. Shunho, Tattoo Soul: Horiyamato: Horiyuki: Horimatsu: Horiyasu: I have found a new appreciation for large scale Japanese work. I never thought I would want any of this style work done, but I have recently brewed a strong desire for a Japanese sleeve or back piece.

I got those pic of my dads panther head this week. He had this done in Osaka Japan in 1957. He doesn't remember much of that shore leave. He does remember that the tattoo became badly infected and after he got back to his sub all he basically remembers is waking up 3 days out to sea.

    Marcus Kuhn's New Project

This may have been my favorite episode yet and all three guys did incredible tattoos. Really want to go get tattooed by Rob, it was awesome when he was talking about traditional body suits and how he looked up to Cripwell for that sort of inspiration. Gypsy Gentlemen is so awesome, I suggest everyone who has enjoyed it so far drop a couple bucks into Marcus' paypal on the site...this shit is way better than cable!

  19. Hey. Holla. Sacto Represent. That's a lot of info to digest. So wait, do you have an apprenticeship or what? Really, take a pair of binoculars and a lawn chair down to the corner of 16th and J on a Saturday afternoon...maybe a little icebox with a sandwich and a pepsi...watch those dudes at American Graffiti just straight deal with walk-ins all day and put out great tattoo after great tattoo. Can you hang in that environment? That's what you should be aspiring to. My $0.02. Good luck on your journey.

Actually, I'm so Republican I tripped on my own brain-happens when you grew up in the sixties and seventies. I said I shared some wine with Chi Chi Rodriguez, and that would have been rough, cause I doubt the Secret Service would have let me near him. What I meant to write before I brain-farted was Cha Cha Jimenez, who was the main shot-caller of the Young Lords at the time. My sister had an apartment at Halsted and Wisconsin, right where People's Park was, and the Young Lords were the only ones who would patrol the streets there. Got to know him fairly well. Abbie Hoffman was, IMHO, a spoiled rich kid dabbling in leftist politics, tho' he did come up with a few phrases I remain fond of, most notably, "no matter which way you tip a pyramid, there will still be a point on the top, so the the only way to get rid of the ruling elite is to blow the top off." The Panthers I met at their headquarters in Maywood, a.k.a. "Murderwood" around Chicago, and while I was by no means buds with them, I did hang around enough to get in on more than one bull session about politics and race-relations, as it is called now. In later years, I would come to know several lower-ranking members very well. Most of them were bank-robbers and thieves, dope-fiends and killers, who had a cause. Which one justified which, I don't know or care. I did go to hear the Honorable Elijah Muhhamed speak once, at the Mosque Maryam, in about 1973. It was quite an experience to be, I guess, the only White in a hall of several thousand blacks, and to listen to the Honorable Minister call for the death of all "White Devils" Wouldn't have missed it for the world. And Malcom X? Everyone knows Brother Malcolm got sideways with the other Brothers in his Mosque...

Lemme know if you'd like to get together. CTC is pretty central in the city, we could run up there or whatever. Get a date and save a buck, Nick, Mario, Mike, any of the guys there are definitely top-shelf.

  30. I think it's usually the fear of actually DOING it more than anything else. I remember my first tattoo was a few year struggle to actually pull the trigger. Earlier in my life tattoo shops were one of the most intimidating places to walk into, now I can't wait to go
