When I was six or seven there was a sixteen year old girl on my block with a tiny spider on her ankle. I was in awe of this, and wrote in my diary that I was going to get a spider tattoo as soon as I turned eighteen. Found this diary when I was cleaning out my mom's basement a few weeks ago--I'm a bit late, but am finally getting that spider done Monday.3 points

I think we were extremely civil in response. A mild rib-poke or ball-busting is to be expected on whatever forum someone is a member of, esp when someone does a faux pah. It's not like a personal attack or anything. I would expect the same if I said felinecat, regardless of how many posts or how long I've been here. Matt, in response to what you were looking for, It looks good so far & dont take anything here personal. Learn from a small mistake about where to post, laugh a little, and carry on. Raised Roman Catholic. Figured out it wasnt for me at around 12-13. Haven't looked back since! The major problem I have with things like the OP, is the way people pick and choose shit out of religious texts. I say either stick to your shit and follow everything through and through or take it all as a guideline of types with some cool stories. Great example I find quoted to me from time to time (and relevant to this forum). This has been spoken to me before, then they go on to say I'm going to hell for my tattoos..blah blah. I usually wait for them to finish and follow up with....do you also know what is included in Leviticus 19? "Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it." - oops got an rare steak "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." - oops hair cut "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them" - Shit, a shitton of people screwed this one "Do not go about spreading slander among your people." - most people have done this as well There are more examples, but I do not feel like getting into them. I find it funny that the people usually spewing out bible verses usually only remember a handful of them that fit their particular opinion, but seem to "forget" all the others, or "those dont matter anymore, etc etc"3 points -

Back on subject. I'm booked in to get this on Friday 13th July. It's from volume 1 of the Russian Prison Tattoo book. I've modified it a bit and added a little red. I'm a bit funny about getting exact copies of these tattoos, probably because I spent a bit of time in a corrective institution as a teenager. For me prison tattoos are earned. But hey that’s just me.3 points

Completed my first GORUCK Challenge today. 13 hours, 14 miles with a 40 pound pack carrying all sorts of fucked up things around, walking down Van Ness without socks or shoes, and more push ups and flutter kicks than I can remember. And a few trips into the ocean. I suggest trying one out when it comes to a city near you. They are going international as well.3 points -
Some conditioning today because my girlfriend insists on making baked lemon cheesecake and I insist on eating three portions rather than just one. When I do conditioning days I like to pick 3-4 blocks of around 10 minutes solid work, with 4-5 minutes rest between them. In terms of what the work blocks are: In the past what's worked best for me are things like sprint work, carries and drags, kettlebells swings/snatches and short metabolic conditioning type bodyweight/dumbell/barbell circuits (this is one of the few times I will use some of the less badly programmed CrossFit metcons in my workouts - for instance, 'Cindy' ... Or a shorter version, at least). It might sound like a lot of work, but for me it works well for conditioning purposes twice a week - I usually see myself lean out pretty quickly. Then I get slightly fat again and the cycle begins anew. Ah, the circle of life. Today I did:- -6 x 2 minute rounds of bag work / 30 seconds rest between rounds. First three were just hands, second three were '8 limbs'. Not such a heavy block because there's quite a bit of built in rest, but I wanted to ease in. (rest) -12 minutes of double kettlebell swings with skipping for active recovery. Reasonably puketastic. (rest) -10 minutes of turkish get-ups, alternating sides. Shoulders went quite shaky towards the last 3 minutes so went to half turkish get-ups to avoid any silliness. And that was it for today. Later in the week I will try to ramp it up a bit more. I've already done my upper body lifting day yesterday, just got to get one more conditioning day and my lower body day in before Sunday and I'm good.2 points

This post is most emphatically NOT about a legendary tattooist, but mayhap a legend of tattoing? So, many moons ago, when I was yet a youngster, we went to Walter's Barber Shop, out near Mannheim and Ogden. This was a real-live, old-time guys barber shop. You know, True Magazine, Esquire, pinups on the wall, racing sheets available, the whole drill. Walter was probably in his mid-sixties at the time. One day, I must have been maybe 12, I was in getting a haircut, and for the first time, it registered that he had tattoos on each arm! Actually, a sailing ship on one forearm, and a nekkid pin-up girl on the other. Both looked to have been done, probably during the maiden voyage of the Ark. Nice, even greenish ink, I"m sure you've all seen the stuff. Anyhow, I asked him about them, and he tells me "oh sure, I used to do tattoos right in the backroom here!" Well, I had to see it, and he took me back to his storeroom, and sure enough, he had all kinds of tattooing gear there. Machines, hand-needles, flash, all kinds of stuff that I didn't recognize but knew I wanted! "No, it isn't for sale, I guess I just like to have it in case I ever decide to use it again." That, and he didn't want my pops to come looking for him with a baseball bat, I'm sure. So as we talked, it turned out that he had tattooed in that area for maybe 15-20 years, pretty steadily, and had made a nice bit of extra change at it. Back then, in Illinois, you could get a tattoo as a minor if you had your parents permission. You can guess the rest. He did a full chest-piece of a sailing ship on a young lad who presented a note from his dear old Mither saying he had her blessings, and wouldn't you know the little rascal was only 14 and had forged it!!! End of tatttoing in LaGrange. Walter escaped any serious repurcussions, but had to hang-up his tattooing shingle after that. Still had the sign there, too! Don't know what his last name was, I'm going to do a little digging, see if I can track him through his Barber's License. Who knows what stories the man could have told, or what the equipment was?!2 points

I hope that this doesn't go on for to much longer. If this is your first forum you have joined then here are a few tips. Look at how many posts a thread has, how many pages it has... If it's at the very top of a section then it's a new thread or one that gets posts on regularly. When you ask a question and your not happy with with the answer don't make a new thread, it will just lead to this. you could even lurk around for a bit and see how things work, where they go... And most of all don't argue on the internet, it is pointless, and will only end with less people joining in on the discussions.2 points -

I'm going to start an OV thread because I'm way too lazy to mention things in specific threads. Sooo. Today I posted a digitized version of a huge interview that Jonathan Shaw did with Col. William Todd in ITA 1/1 in 1992. Mr. Shaw gave me permission to digitize all the interviews that he did for ITA- takes forever (OCR for the win) but TOTALLY worth it. Here's the first one: Jonathan Shaw Interviews: Col. William L. Todd « Occult Vibrations SO MUCH good stuff in this interview.2 points -

Relgion and Politics, I have grown to hate both of them, in fact the only thing I hate more is discussing them at this point. All I really know is that all dogs go to heaven. Regardless of one's religious belief or opinion on another person's sexual orientation, teaching you child to speak in that manner lacks class and is a direct reflection of that particular organization and their moral values.2 points -

There were about 4 bands playing that night in my hometown. The Clash, who were headlining were playing across the road in a bigger hall. Anyway a fire broke out in the hall and burnt it down, destroying the place and the Clashs' sound system. A local band, XTC lent the Clash their gear for the night so that their set could go ahead in the smaller club. The opening number was Londons Burning but Joe changed the lyrics to Swindons Burning. Packed in like sardines, sweaty, eardrums getting shattered. Fucking amazing night. Got arrested and charged with criminal damage and theft for pulling down some 25th Jubilee bunting, that year. £25 fine. I think I'll stay in over the 60th Jubilee bank holiday and keep out of trouble.2 points

-Part 4- Okay, so ALOT has happened since last time I wrote here (part 2). Two of my bandmates arrived in NYC a few days ago, so now I've got some company. They're not interested in tattoos though, so they're off seeing the statue of liberty or visiting the empire state building while I'm getting tattooed or just visiting shops. They look like this by the way: So, as some of you might have guessed from the previous part, I got tattooed by Bailey Hunter Robinson last wednesday. He was so nice, and his little private studio was amazing. Lots of cool artifacts like stuffed animals and a lifesize wooden native american. The tattoo was done in a couple of hours, and the spot wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be. I have also been somewhat of a tattoo-tourist these last few days. I've stopped by both Kings Avenue (Manhatten) and Invisible. Outside invisible I had a little stop'n'chat with a nice fella from Inksmith and Rogers that was doing a guestspot on Kings Av at the time. We had a little tattoo show'n' tell as well. He had some amazing tattoos from the likes of Chris garver, Mike Wilson and Tim Hendrix. Hendrix did the girlhead on his chest as you can see in the picture below. Unfortunately I can't remember his name (I suck at remembering names), but maybe @Ursula can enlighten us if she recognizes his chestpiece? Anyway, I told him I had an appointment booked with Chris Conn this week and he said "are you sure it's still happening". He had heard something about Conn cutting his hand and postponing appointments. I have to admit that I'm very worried at the moment, but I haven't received any phone calls or emails, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The flight is already booked and payed, so I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't happen.... Anyway, I also stopped by Kings Av, which was AMAZING. It was especially fun seeing these two Ed Hardy originals and the Tim Lehi set in the photo below. The guy at the counter there was more than willing to pull down his pants and showing me his awesome Timothy Hoyer tiger too. I picked up a couple shop shirts before I left, and found out that one of them had a piece of tape on it with the inscription "Gay bird". What the what!?! Man, there are some crazy people in thic city. That topless chick was out shopping it seemed :D The dude in the speedo banging on a floortom with kitchensupplies had the most energetic performance I've ever seen. I have a video that I'll try to upload on youtube of that guy. Does any of the locals on here know who he is? Then there's these guys... Had to get a refill at Shirts and Destroy too Yesterday (Saturday) was the time for my fourth and final tattoo here in New York. Mr Timothy Hoyer was going to do a pantherhead on my thigh to match the Lehi tiger on the other leg. I was really excited about that one, and it seemed as Timothy was excited to do it as well. Like Bailey he also tattoos out of a private studio, and I must say that I really like the experience of it. It feels much more relaxed, and I find it easier to get into a conversation in that kind of environment. Timothy was super cool and showed me lots of paintings and stuff he was currently working on. The tattoo took around four hours to complete, and now my Lehi tiger has finally got a buddy :) Maybe I should pick up one of these, just in case I get tired of it When New Yorkers ask me where I get my sick tatts done I give them the address to this vending machine That's it for now. I'm sure I forgot around half of what I wanted to say, and I'm both sleepy and hungry at the moment, som my focus isn't where it should be. Sloppy english and no proofwriting on this one. Thanks for reading! :)2 points -

It isn't like a celebration of 60 years of accomplishing anything. She lived for 60 years as a pampered multi-billionaire in a first world nation. I have no clue how in the 21st century there is a group of inbred, doddering old buffoons who have the power to dissolve Parliament meetings. This senile old wrist-waving dingbat has power over PARLIAMENT?!?! Could you imagine if before he died Andy Rooney had power over the U.S. Congress? Yup, I'm going to be there, too. I have an appointment on June 6th with Jim Sylvia at Unbreakable Tattoo. Dagger through the neck. The next day(s) I'll go to Ink-n-Iron and hopefully get tattooed there as well. I still have a samll spot to fill on my wrist and wanted to get a traditional all seeing eye-tattoo. Any artists worth contacting beforehand? I was just scrolling through the tattoo artists list and have no clue whom to check out. I'll probably just go there and pick my artist on the spot.1 point

el_alquimista reacted to Rich Pearson for a topic
Her decision making is obviously poor. She will be laughed at and looked down upon for the rest of her life. As a professional artist with some integrity she should be advised by the artist (which she was, apparently) .. But ,then to say,‘ok ,lets do it ,that’s what you want ‘is straight down for the dollar,no matter the outcome,no worries for a fellow human. Just a straight drug dealer attitude ‘they’ll get it from someone else,I lose out‘….’she’ll go next door and get it done badly’ In this situation ,who cares if its done badly ,it’s typical of a cheap bong shop/tattoo party scratcher studio . Professional tattooers wouldn’t touch it as they love and respect the craft and don’t need to sensationalise and damage it. Professional tattooers understand there are people not thinking straight walking through the door every day,a professional assesses the situation. A good professional is busy and and does not need to make a quick buck with blood on their hands.1 point -

how about instead of the attitude that "if i turn them away they will get a nasty disease" and change it to "maybe i should try and explain to this person how that tattoo is going to actually affect their life and maybe try and convince them to get it somewhere else" Like I said before, it's shit like this that gives everyone else a bad name. No matter how clean the tattoo comes out (art wise and health wise). How about having some common decency, being a real human being who isn't going to purposely fuck someone up like that, even if they asked for it. Bad decision on everyone's part.1 point
