@Hunter Morrow - I'm simultaneously impressed and appalled by your audacity. I can really only speak for myself here - but one of things I love about LST is the variety of opinions expressed and the (generally) courteous manner in which differences are handled. Having said that... It is really a bummer to see such a base and judgmental comment here.2 points

Our politrix are controlled by the banksters, just the same as yours are. Tell you what, instead of my listing all the ways that socialism/collectivism have overtaken Ami society, howsabout if you give our Constitution a good study, and then brush up on our history over the last 200 years, with a special interest in social issues, and then study on the changes that ahve taken place in our Nation since, say, 1975 or so. I don't mean to be a dick, but without a good grounding in all of that, it's impossible to intelligently discuss this. Our Nation was founded as a Republic, not a Democracy. You were free to earn and keep whatever you could. Now, everything you do and aspire to is regulated and controlled, and if you get out of line, there are more than enough alphabet-soup agencies with their own paramilitary forces to bring you to heel. The welfare state here is mind-boggling, anyone in the entire country, contrary to popular fiction, can walk into a County hospital and get whatever care they need absolutely free if they have no insurance. Anyone.2 points

LST Around the World, or Squinty in Meheeco
Steve reacted to gougetheeyes for a topic
The wife and I took another photo (with an iguana!) that didn't come out, so I can only offer up this lonely, squinty photo of myself representing LST down around Puerto Morelos, before I gave up on snorkeling and felt queasy on the boat. SUCCESS If you own an LST shirt you are now obligated to go somewhere different and take an awkward photo to post..1 point -

@Hunter Morrow...First, I think a person's ability to approach and speak of others with dignity and respect is a lot more telling than their gender (chosen/changed or otherwise) and given the choice, I'd much prefer to grab a drink with someone who makes their choices and faces the unkind world as they've chosen to live than someone spewing judgement, ridicule and hate. Second, how people identify themselves isn't an act against another person. He didn't do this *to* his wife. Third, fetishes are about sex not gender -- sex is something you do, gender is something you are. Or, more succinctly, "People care too much about other people's dicks/cunts." ( @Ursula)1 point

This is a far cry from socialized health care. I mean, jeez, god forbid the insurance companies make less money. I am with you on some things. I believe people have to hold personal responsibility for they finances, but at the end of the day, we are still a nation where the wealth divide is incredibly gapped. We are in a country where we bail out financial institutions with our tax money...and the former CEOs still live in mansions. Does that make sense?1 point -
Food and Drink list

Heating up a griddle pan to cook some flat iron steaks... I believe they're a shoulder cut from the cow, and are relatively cheap but tasty cuts. A fair bit of marbling on them. My steak method is derived from the Hawksmoor At Home cookbook. 1. Let the meat rest at room temp for at least an hour 2. Pat dry, you don't want it in a soupy juice 3. Season heavily with salt and pepper - almost forming a crust on the surface of the meat 4. Get a heavy cast-iron pan and get it so hot you can't put your hand near it even 5. Rather than using oil or anything else try and cut a piece of fat from a steak and rub that on the pan if you think it needs it 6. Personally I like to flip the steak every 60 seconds until it's cooked to taste, rather than letting it bed in on one side for longer than that. This method probably works better if you're *not* using a griddle type pan. If it's a heavy Le Creuset griddle or something then if, like me, you like the black char lines then you wait longer. 7. Remember to allow time to let the steak rest for a few minutes, and bear in mind that it'll keep cooking during this period Om nom nom nom1 point -

What are American quirks?!?
jayessebee reacted to CultExciter for a topic
I'm an American quirk. I'm a socialist, Nietzsche-ian, liberal, piece of pinko scum. I believe people should have certain benefits as a birth-right and that people should be taxed according to what they make. I'm a quirk in a country where the lower-middle-class believe that their hard work yet lack of compensation is ok, because the political machine and GOD-almighty will give them what they deserve, then they die. Oh fuck it. PS...we don't have the Quirke surname here in the States...1 point -

Hey, everyone. I wanted to see if anyone here might be able to help with something. My Dad got tattooed in Glasgow, around 1962. He was USAF. He doesn't remember the name of the shop OR tattooer...probably because it's been 50 years AND he was drunk as hell. ;) Anyways...I was wondering if anyone knew who might have done his tattoo? I'll post a pic...as soon as I figure out how on this forum. Some "Mr. Lucky" action from 1962(ish)1 point

Sometime in the late 90's(I think 97?) some friends and I went to the 9:30 club to see Lee Perry perform. I wasn't driving and at that point was kinda drinking a bit to excess. The show was great, and it was packed. I proceeded to get my drink on in the club. After the show, my friends and I gathered at the corner in front of the club to see what we would do next. While discussing(and me trying to stand up straight) my friend points out that Adam Yauch was standing a few feet away quitly talking to someone. Plenty of other folks seemed to see him as well but nobody was bothering him or asking for autographs or dick-riding or anything. He's just enjoying a conversation with someone without anyone harassing him. So what do I do? I drunkenly yell out and call him BY THE WRONG NAME. In front of my friends and dozens of otheer people. "YO ADROCK!!!" Then drunk-walk over to try to bullshit with him. As I stand there(well, sort of weave back-and-forth there) I realize I have nothing to talk about. So I ramble for a moment or two about growing up on Long Island and about shows I saw of the Beasties back in '87 or '88 and rapidly come up with nothing to say. Coming up short with conversation I then do the next completely fixed gear-ass thing to do and say "yo, get up on a flyer for me!" and hand him a handbill for the night's event and a silver Uni wide marker. He looks at the marker and then at me, like 'what the fuck am I supposed to do with this?' kinda look. I drunkenly interpret this to question why I had a giant silver marker and tell him that I'm a writer etc, etc. So he writes some thing on there and I take it and leave. Can't remember anything else after that. The next day I wake up and as I'm going through my pockets from the night before, I find the handbill he wrote on. He had written 'MCA B-Boy'. As I am reading 'MCA' all I can hear in my head is "YO ADROCK!!!!". Instantly I remember what I had done and said and felt like more of an idiot than I ever had my entire life. My friends have never mentioned the incident since. I still have the handbill as a funny reminder of my drunken idiocy. I have to say, he was remakably nice and polite. Even after I called him by the wrong name and acted like a drunken moron. He didn't even correct me about the name-thing. Thanks for giving us lots of good music, good times, and our inspirations. RIP Adam.1 point

I feel you dude. I was just talking to someone the other day about a recent shitty tattoo they got and they said the guy is "pretty good for around here". I told them there are actually tattooists around here that are plain old GOOD, not just for here, for anywhere. Then they were the usual complaints of money and likely having to schedule something at least 2 weeks ahead. I just said that they'll get the tattoo they deserve. People want to be stupid, shitty fuckheads, then they deserve stupid shitty tattoos.1 point -

Lady Heads

I just joined this site, I love lady heads and after browsing the member pictures I'd like to add Stefan Johnson's name to this conversation. I really love his style of girls and not even sure how it would be categorized (help?). I plan on getting a gypsy head in the near future but I prefer the more neo-trad, softer designs like this rather than the pure traditional styles which most artists seem to do. Here's a few examples of Stefan's style which I like and if anyone can suggest a traveling artist or one in the northeastern US who does similar work I'd greatly appreciate it. If I was closer to Stefan's shop in CA I'd be booking an appt. tomorrow. Thanks.1 point
