    Intro

Hey all. Been checking this forum out for a while and finally jumped into the water to contribute. I dig getting tattooed and have read some interesting advice here that I wished I had known about when I first started. Luckily I've had some good friends that have learned about getting good tattoos and pointed me in the right direction. I've just recently learned the fun of going into a shop with a vague idea and walking out with a new tattoo. I think that's all I got for now.

    Healed Tattoo Swollen

Free dermatology advice is what your searching for whether ya know it or not,but that's OK, tattooers often know more about the afflictions in tattoos than the local dermatologist. With that said, let me state that there are pigments coming into countries form other countries that are not entirely sound, why would China care about cheap tattoo pigments when they don't seem to care about the paint they spay on kids toys. Anyhow, I don't think this is the case for you, mainly because it took this much time to appear and you had no initial reaction during and after the healing. I "suspect" that you have recently been outside in the Springtime season when the suns rays are closer to the Earth than any other time of the year and the pigments can react to that and become "puffy", your saying that it's not itchy and irritating tells me that it's not a "rejection" of the skin. I have witnessed this with some of the import pigments received off places like EBay. I may also be a "mild" rejection but I lean towards the sun diagnosis. So, I would have to say without being a bonified doctor that, breath easy and wait it out as I feel that the puffy area's will subside in time, this area of time will probably be as much as 6 weeks and if it does persist and more importantly become irritating, first consult the shop that executed the tattoo and if you don't feel satisfied with their advice then see your dermatologist. Be cautious of what they recommend to do though and consult LST before committing to something that sounds drastic as some will recommend procedure's based on the quality of insurance you might have. Keep us up to date on your progress/recovery as there are very knowledgeable people here on this site. Also, it would be good for a you to at least call the place ya got from for input and ya never know, they may need to change up on what they are usein and need to know. Good luck

Tebori has it's own elements. It's one of those things. Subtle color variances and shade due to how it is applied by hand. It really can make it look like you were born with it.

  11. I read that T-Nation article on the leg press, and thought it was reasonably good... Although the thing about T-Nation is that if you wait long enough you will eventually have someone write an article in favour of the most maligned exercise / protocol and try and bring it back into fashion. It's the nature of the site, they get stuck for things to write about and sometimes the easiest approach to take to stand out is to be the contrarian. From my point of view I use the leg-press at the moment, but mainly because it suits the protocol I'm using, in that it's relatively high reps and hypertrophy orientated. I can't imagine trying to use it for a lower rep work. I don't want the spinal loading of conventional squatting, but if I swing back towards a more strength-orientated approach I'd sooner do single leg stuff and heavy drags than try and make the leg press suit that. Speaking of the sort of T-Nation articles I alluded to earlier, Dan John has been writing lately about the value of both machine exercises and hypertrophy work, particularly for older athletes. Mike Boyle recently wrote an article in favour of lat pull-downs and similar cable pulley rows versus pull-ups for some clients.... Maybe it shouldn't be funny to me, but it is. Things seem to come in a circle. In ten years will HIIT on a nautilus machine be hot again (they were before my time but..), and we'll all be eating high carb wholemeal diets? Stranger things have happened.

  12. If raising the consciousness of an individual or community is useless, then sure. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the job issue. Though surely vocational programs, continued education and apprenticeships in the trades fall under "Education", right? Access to jobs can be blocked many different factors - be it personal or local/national/global limitations. But everyone benefits from an educated individual. @Hunter Morrow - I used to wonder the same things while I was out and about...though I didn't necessarily enjoy the sense of superiority I was cultivating. It drove a wedge between me and the public. I just found that it is easier for me to empathize with motherfuckers, you know? It makes my day easier. Maybe I'm just a dirty hippie at this point. That reminds me - I gotta jump in the shower. "One Love"

  14. Its great for bodybuilders wanting hypertrophy provided you do higher reps ,15 plus and deep .Its not a heavy weight /low rep deal its heavy weight /high reps done in a constant tension style i.e. no lock out and is suited to high intensity stuff - strip sets etc . Look at how pros legs changed in the 90's cause most everyone abandoned squats ,everyone was walking around like Quadzilla but also a lot of people had turnip thighs that were huge but looked like shit .

    MCA

Sometime in the late 90's(I think 97?) some friends and I went to the 9:30 club to see Lee Perry perform. I wasn't driving and at that point was kinda drinking a bit to excess. The show was great, and it was packed. I proceeded to get my drink on in the club. After the show, my friends and I gathered at the corner in front of the club to see what we would do next. While discussing(and me trying to stand up straight) my friend points out that Adam Yauch was standing a few feet away quitly talking to someone. Plenty of other folks seemed to see him as well but nobody was bothering him or asking for autographs or dick-riding or anything. He's just enjoying a conversation with someone without anyone harassing him. So what do I do? I drunkenly yell out and call him BY THE WRONG NAME. In front of my friends and dozens of otheer people. "YO ADROCK!!!" Then drunk-walk over to try to bullshit with him. As I stand there(well, sort of weave back-and-forth there) I realize I have nothing to talk about. So I ramble for a moment or two about growing up on Long Island and about shows I saw of the Beasties back in '87 or '88 and rapidly come up with nothing to say. Coming up short with conversation I then do the next completely fixed gear-ass thing to do and say "yo, get up on a flyer for me!" and hand him a handbill for the night's event and a silver Uni wide marker. He looks at the marker and then at me, like 'what the fuck am I supposed to do with this?' kinda look. I drunkenly interpret this to question why I had a giant silver marker and tell him that I'm a writer etc, etc. So he writes some thing on there and I take it and leave. Can't remember anything else after that. The next day I wake up and as I'm going through my pockets from the night before, I find the handbill he wrote on. He had written 'MCA B-Boy'. As I am reading 'MCA' all I can hear in my head is "YO ADROCK!!!!". Instantly I remember what I had done and said and felt like more of an idiot than I ever had my entire life. My friends have never mentioned the incident since. I still have the handbill as a funny reminder of my drunken idiocy. I have to say, he was remakably nice and polite. Even after I called him by the wrong name and acted like a drunken moron. He didn't even correct me about the name-thing. Thanks for giving us lots of good music, good times, and our inspirations. RIP Adam.

  22. While the notion that certain groups/demographics/peoples are deserving of hatred is not a distinctly American quirk (it being an age-old Human quirk) we, as demonstrated by the above quote, are certainly doing our part to perpetuate this gross trait. But I digress...

  29. My first exposure to people my age being tattooed was early 90's high school. Some punk rock skater friends of mine had gotten machines somehow (pre-internet) and started tattooing themselves and others with tribal and skate logos. They were usually on ankles or places they could be hidden from parents, unless those parents read the yearbook, because there was a whole article in it about tattooing as a trend. The quality of those 'tatz' turned me off to tattooing and I don't think I saw a good tattoo until I moved into Houston ten years later. Ironically, I got into getting tattooed myself when I went with a friend to have his high school scratcher tattoo covered at a real shop :)
