  1. I'm going to hop on my soap box for a second and give everyone a little rant: Who cares? Really? When I first got into this I looked at it like a business mostly... Capitlaism, blah, blah, blah.... Fuck that noise now. Over 12 years now, I look at it like this, as my husband always said even when I first came into his shop... "You never really see rats jumping on a sinking ship... Why in the Fuck would any smart and skilled person want to do this for a living? It's not easy, it's not cool, and it's not a life easily lived, why?" BUT, in this case, yeah... It's much too cool, to not WANT to do it... You can blame TV, you can say it's more accepted, but it's not really... If there are still small towns in the middle of nowhere, and you needed to stop and get some help, they would look at you sideways, say sorry, can't help ya, move along stranger... Deal with that bullshit for a good few years, you might change your mind about how accepted it is... But while all us are busy bitching about it online, the real heros, and pros are busy, working... Tattooing and painting and putting their stuff out there. Putting the real work in. So in an effort to save time, and typing do us all a favor, just get tattooed, don't get attracted to it, between the hours, the people, the drugs, the bullshit, it's not something you can just do, it's something that does you. OK, end rant. Tattooing and this life inevitably chose me, like it does with anyone that partakes it, NOT FOR THE MONEY, but purely out of LOVE for the craft, that love is the drive that keeps us rolling around doing what we do....That's my take. PS... all the new kids and folks hopping on this site need to go back into the older parts of the forum, and read everything there that they might be thinking about, cause all this stuff has already been brought up before, while I am happy the site is gaining members, I am tired of re-reading old stuff, that's not really relevant to life, and tattooing right now. Ok, end of second ps rant.

  2. Got this at the Oregon Ink Convention this week by Mike Volkakis @ Artwork Rebels Portland. I have always loved this Sailor Jerry Design and Mike is a hell of a tattooer and cool guy to hang around. Big thank to @hawk , who owns the first shop Mike tattooed in.

A few of Richards Dragons... More western/ Americanized... I like these creatures, they are so complex even in the simpler versions.

  8. The world needs more people like YOU... That do your footwork, and headwork, then make a good decision, and follow thru with it... The WORLD needs more Tattoo Admiration from "Professional Collectors"... People that have impeccable taste in tattoos, and tattoo art in general, that love it soo much to leave it the fuck alone, and just get tattooed, because they respect it enough to let it be...

  13. Just figured it'd be smart to post up... We're still in Mesa, at Immaculate, Richard and Aaron Coleman had been working on a few new split sheets, and they finished and have one in production, and I have those on hand as well... Coleman took off to the Rome Convention that happening this weekend... And then him and the misses are taking some much need time off to enjoy some downtime... Leaving Mando Rascon here all by his lonesome, which he can totally handle it, but we need to address a few things regarding the 6 or 7 motorcycles he has at a buddies house out here that were supposed to be getting worked on, but I guess not... So we have some shit to tend to, and then a few more appointments, and lots of time open... Going to get a nice vacation rental for a couple weeks, and soak up some sun, and whatnot... From here, we are heading towards the Inksmith's in New Mexico, if they are at their compound when we roll through, then back to Dallas to round up more motorcycles, and then either straight to Tulsa, OK to start up a shop, or maybe Houston to sell a house we have down there that's going to waste... But once we get to Tulsa, other then a handful of conventions and shop spots, you can come to us... The road is long, and hard, but what a trip.

    Panther Tattoos

@hogg @dcostello Thanks... and hogg... I'd say bring it on... Those Pardus Panthers are tricky, he has it down, but it's been hilarious, and sometimes sad to see some other people pull it off, the shading is completely different then normal black panthers... I guess it's a new trend, just glad Richard started it... And when I picked the first one for the client he did it on, he was pissed cause he didn't know if he could pull the version off, it had never been attempted, but now... It's something we're both super proud of....

For some reason I disagree. I told my girlfriend (one white tattoo) that I like chicks without tattoos and she laughed/called me stupid. Then I showed her who was boss. Dishes for two weeks. DONE.

During my brief stint at applebees  it became common place for the "punk group" of server chicks to get mustaches on their fingers. I'm haunted by the thought of them.

  22. About 5 or 6 years ago, I saw this incredible sleeve (not something I would wear) but still awesome. I think it was by Chad Soner, but I could be wrong. It was a piece of pizza nailed to the cross and then a bunch of zombies eating Jesus. I wish I could find a pic of that thing, it was bonkers.

Been thinking about English roses, or something in the geometric flower/mandala vein. Not sure if it is a good idea or not. Good thing I have 2 knees!

  27. David is one of my favorite people, and he happens to also be one of my favorite tattooers. He'll be moving to Tampa, like other folks here said, in June and is well worth checking out. My buddy Skip Sampson tattoos in Tamp, but for the life of me I can't remember where Skip works. It's been a long time since I've been to Florida and shop names change down there pretty frequently.

  28. Eh I have 2 right side up crosses and I am not religious at all, except for an interest in esoteric beliefs in general... One is part of a russian gangster piece and the other is my "vampire hunter" hand...I did grow up in church all the time and I like the symbol, the orientation seems unimportant to me

    Stell Spot'in

@Jennifer Stell - Great to hear it's all coming together and the shop isn't too far off. You have both been working your collective asses off and deserve the 'rest' if thats what you can call it! Question - any plans to head to Australia (ever?) or will the new shop be added to my list of places to visit when I finally get to the states? (who am I kidding, it's going to be on the list to visit either way haha)

  32. Along with the sweatpants... Any time is appropriate for gym shorts or pajamas. You'd think the appropriate time for pajamas would be sleeping, or for gym shorts exercising in a gym, but you'd be wrong. Shopping, going to a restaurant, going to college, job interview, loved one's funeral... PAJAMAS AND T SHIRT TIME, BABY!

    Elbow Tattoos

ok here's mine. was easier than i thought to photo my elbow with the help of a mirror and my iPhone. done by Chris David, then of TCB tattoo toronto, now he works in BC i think in victoria somewheres. People are always shocked he did the heart red and that i haven't had it touched up. It looks a little darker in the photo because I used lotion right before it was taken. It could use another pass on the red, it's a little blotchy when I bend my elbow all the way, but it's in there pretty good. looking at these pics makes me realize i need to get some more shit around that thing!

    Band or song tattoo(s)?

Haha...let's just say that you're probably a lot closer to your parents than I am (both emotionally and geographically). I see them about once a year, so it's not that difficult to stay covered, and I don't plan on doing my hands or neck. And yes, I see the irony in me posting this in a thread that is ostensibly about punk tattoos. At this point, several of my nephews are tattooed and my parents know about it. There are different rules for grandkids, though, and I know that my parents would just be brokenhearted to learn that I'm as heavily tattooed as I am. That's why I just avoid the topic altogether. HOWEVER, my oldest sister told me the funniest thing I've heard in years. She said that my dad mentioned to her that he knows that my wife is tattooed. (I think she sent him a pic of her with our daughter.) My wife has half sleeves, a few tattoos on her back, and one on her shin. My dad's comment to my sister was, "I know she's got one BIG tattoo on her arm...I think maybe she's been influencing Ross." I don't think I've laughed that hard in years.
