I wanna see the tattoo reality show where the contestants tattoo the judges. Now THAT would be a good one. I bet all these solid well known tatbros wouldn't be involved if that were the case.4 points

Another good month of tattoos so thanks for all who shared and voted! March 2012 Tattoo of the month winner is @embers (post #17) with his tiger by @Bryan Burk at Dark Horse Tattoo in LA, congratulations! For those who don't know @embers traveled to get this tattoo and as an observer can say it was well worth it!! Also if you're unfamiliar with Bryan here's the Bryan Burk Video Interview he did with Scott for LST. PM me your shirt size, male or female style (note: we have no smalls or mediums for males left at this time, sorry), and your mailing address. Thanks for everyone else who participated and now it is time for April 2012 Best Tattoo of the Month2 points

Oliver does make a point about Navarro. I mean for example Joe Rogan getting a sleeve by one guy is essentially getting one tattoo. Basically your scope of knowledge about tattooing would be limited to the one shop and one tattooer who tattooed you. Even if Navarro's tattoo design choices aren't in line with what I would get, spending 20 years getting tattooed by guys like Roberts, Negrete, and Mahoney among others makes a solid case for being a non tattooer judge. But if the question was who do you want to do smoke a bowl with and hit the Vegas strip with, I would say Rogan wins that one every time.1 point -

From the article preview: Heck, at least Joe Rogan is funny, doesn't take himself too seriously, and has some actual nice ink (although I haven't gotten a good look at it, it appears nice from a distance). IMHO, YMMV, etc...1 point

Here's some that I've done. I don't get into the studio much but I hope to soon and will explore a new direction. All ideas and no time right now. Intaglio prints onto rice paper. I made this for my wife. It's of the antique schooner we sailed on on Maine. This one seems relevant these days...painted just over four years ago.1 point

I just got a tattoo done by Scott Silvia last Monday (3/26) and I was way beyond excited to meet him and to get a tattoo by, in my opinion, one of the best tattooist out there!! It is my favorite tattoo and fills me full of drive and motivation to keep that fire under my ass to keep achieving and striving to learn. One of the best things about being a tattooist is learning, growing, and evolving through getting tattoos, asking questions, observing, researching, and much much more! Living and breathing tattoos. I got the Spider Lady because of personal reasons and because its a traditional tattoo design that holds so much history within itself and to see an added new twist to the traditional tattoo designs makes me appreciate and want to know and learn more and more. This is seriously my new favorite tattoo (as are all new tattoos) And makes me want to strive and continue to get tattooed by awesome, amazing, inspirational, driven artist!1 point -

this is symptomatic of the entitled culture of today. i understand it is much more prevalent in the u.s. than other places. i tattoo steps away from beverly hills and nothing screams disrespectful to me more than a snotty rich bitch in 2500$ shoes and with a 5000$ hand bag trying to chisel me down on a 200$ tattoo1 point -

Oskar Blues has a good thing going for sure. I enjoy Dogfish Head Beers too especially their IPA and Burton Baton. Living in the land of IPA for me it doesn't get much better than going to a small local brewery and getting a fresh hop ale. I may be biased but Portland is killing it when it comes to hoppy beer. Went to one of my favorites last night | Hopworks Urban Brewery - Organic Beer1 point -

I was talking to a tattooer friend of mine who just bought $2000 worth of motorcycle equipment (Helmet, Jacket, boots etc) from a shop right down the street from where he tattoos. The guy from the bike shop comes in a couple weeks later looking for a quote on a sizeable tattoo. I think my buddy threw a figure of about $500 at him and I guess he was floored at how at tattoo could cost that much. My buddy told him he thought the same thing about the equipment he sells, only difference is I can go online and find some website that sells the same quality of motorcycle stuff for cheaper, but he would rather buy from someone in the neighborhood. The guy didn't get it, maybe one day a light bulb will go off ?1 point -
I always marvel that people will come in wearing a pair of $150 sneakers and balk at a $50 minimum for a tattoo of all things or the price of a portrait of their late mother. Their values are all out of order I feel no obligation to cater to that. When people ask me why I charge what I do, I tell them, I charge what I'm worth. Sometimes i let them know that iif someone charges a lot less, you have to ask yourself what corners they're cutting and if they feel like they can get the same level of work cleanly for less elsewhere go for it. In fairness, I can be an unwavering bastard, largely because I don't like people telling me what my time and skill is worth. It's not like we have a pile of these tattoos cluttering the back room we have to clear out on the cheap.1 point

I was at the Scottish Tattoo Convention the weekend before last, and took the opportunity to have a chat with the people there from King Carlos Tattoo in Sweden. Calle in King Carlos is pretty well-known for his Japanese style stuff in Europe and he does a lot of large-scale stuff. I have been e-mailing back and forth a little bit about booking in to begin a backpiece, but nothing finalised yet. I think his stuff is really refined and he seems to have that knack for making the backgrounds of japanese style tattoos look like they're flowing and curling like real water or smoke. .:: King Carlos Tattoo ::.1 point -
