    Mike wilson fast or not?

Yes, he is fast. More importantly, he is one of the very best tattooers around.

I think the next challenge should be when Oliver Peck tells the contestants to "Build a tattoo machine out of hair dryer parts. You will have one hour to complete this challenge, and it must have three speeds".

  7. Wilson tattoo wins every time. Fast or not. That being said, he did a huge backpiece sized Pharoah's horses on my buddy that took a rough total of around 6 hours between 2 sittings. So yeah, fast.

  10. it's not even like she copied some flash, she traced actual paintings people were selling prints of at that same convention. She also seems to have printed out photos of people tattoos and traced those. You put out a flash book specifically to be copied in a way, straight up tracing and selling is still wrong but flash is flash. To go to the extent of finding pictures of paintings and actual tattoos, size them up, print them out, trace them, put it all together in a book. If she's put that much work into her own drawings they probably wouldn't be that bad.

    What's to it?

Signed up here after hearing that Nick Colella had posted a few pix of old tats of mine. Looked around, saw lotsa good stuff, and thought I'd stick around and maybe throw in my two cents now n then, so feel free to flame! I put my first tat on myself when I was 12, I'm 57 now, and it hasn't stopped. I did a good bit of old-skool hand-needle jailhouse stuff way back in the day, and most of the work I have now covers old jailhouse pieces. What else can I say? I like to visit and watch at other parlors, but I get all chauvinistic and shit about who tattoos me...I've never gotten a professional piece anywhere but at Chicago Tattooing, and I can't see that changing now. I first went in there to gawk, man, mabye around 1966, 1967, something like that, and got my first electric tattoo done in there by Dale Grande in something like 1973 or 1974. That's me-hope to get to know some of y'all.

  17. I'm sorry to hear about her condition, but I don't really see how that's relevant to her tattooing other peoples custom tattoo designs. I would be bummed out if I saw a copy of one of my custom tattoos, woodcut shading or not.

Aight, gotcha... Sorry didn't get the joke the first time around. Then in that case they should also chop down and carve their own shaft to hold the needles or forge it if they decide to go with a metal one.

  27. I can see asking around. Since my colors don't show up in 55 gallon drums i can mix anything anyone needs. I know folks dig the CCS Gold as well as the Seafoam and I can easily mix it up. Send me a little, Andy and I'll mix it up. Thanks!

I'm booked with Bob on March 22. And I'd like to echo my man @Avery Taylor's comments above and say that I'd love to get something from Bryan Burk. He is a chip off the old Spotlight block, but with his own take on things. I can't wait to see what you get from him!

  34. Had another session last week on my arm with Rachi. We're up to about 16 hours now, the grey is almost done, next session will be the start of some colour. Thinking after this is done, I'll go back to one-shot pieces for a while. Waiting months for it to be "finished" due to time/money constraints is getting frustrating >.<

  35. ^^^^back to the Hatch! ^^^^ I got my left hand tattooed by AP Shrewsbury Friday @ Erik Von B's shop- what a great experience that was! My first time with a rotary, and made a new friend. The tattoo is a cross and a heart, and it's very strong (sorry not posting pix publicly, its kind of unique)

  37. Ugghh.....Okay, I want to first apologize to the rest of the forum, I just started posting yesterday but I feel VERY strongly about this subject. I'm a 2nd generation tattooer, my mother has been tattooing for 33 yrs, and learned how to make "machines" from Paul Rogers, I'm sure that name means nothing to you, but it should. My father has been tattooing since '75, his first shop job was with Bob Shaw and Col. Todd, once again names I'm sure mean nothing to you, but should. My step-father has been tattooing for 23 yrs, and he guests once a year at Inksmith and Rogers, once again a name that I'm sure means nothing to you, but really really should. I myself have only been tattooing for 10 yrs, I was a little late getting to it, and realistically still just a journeyman. My family has been tattooing for a combined 104 yrs. So yes they are called machines, coolness has nothing to do with it. It's about respect, respect for the craft that has fed my family for decades, respect for those that have come before, respect for those that have paid their dues and dedicated their entire being to Tattooing. When new tattooers who know jack shit about jack shit have over inflated egos and meet any criticism with comments about "haters", they pretty much shit on everything that my family has worked for. So in summation go fuck yourself. You're not welcome in my world.

Thoughts on e2: Ton Jones isn't "heavily tattooed". He's just heavy. My fiancee's 81yo Jewish Bubbe used to have the same sunglasses that Chriss Angel... errr.. Navarro is wearing on the car challenge. Peck calling James "hillbilly" was funny. Al Fliction's glasses are stupid. As stupid as Al Fliction. I want to see Peck and Nunez tattoo a pig in a 32* meat locker, pinstripe a car and braid Navarro's hair to match Al's goatee. I want to eat crawdaddies with James at a hoedown. I can't believe the producers didn't have a backup for psoriasis guy other than two tons of fun. I feel bad for having watched another episode.

    Full body suit people?

There's a guy in SF named Maron Hasegawa. He had full sleeves from Colin Stevens, then decided he wanted a full suit. He flew to Japan and, in one year, got fully suited by Horiyoshi III: It's not shown in those pics, but it goes down to his ankles. Donburi style, as they say in Japan. I think he got tattooed every other day for a year. Just think about that for a minute. I had the pleasure of meeting Maron at Diamond Club a few years back, and I asked him a similar question: does it feel weird to be [/i]done[/i]? He seemed to imply that it was. He said he asked Horiyoshi about tattooing his head, to which the master replied, "Nah...you're done." There's also a guy in one of Horitaka's books who has a full 9-dragon body suit that Horiyoshi did in a year and a half. It's everything but the strip down the center of his chest ("river style"), and the whole thing--neck to ankles, full sleeves--is black and gray. I think about that guy from time to time, because it's insane to me to think that someone went 30+ years without a drop of ink, then made the huge decision to get fully suited. I just can't get my head around it. As I alluded to in the Collecting Different Styles thread, I'm really happy with what I've got, but it's all over the place. The thought of having a full cohesive body suit is absolutely foreign to me.
