The Swastika symbol in tattoos
Shannon Shirley and 2 others reacted to Hands On for a topic
I got a symbol on my wrist from Jondix's book, 108 Marks, that includes two opposing swastikas. I get a few looks from people who notice it, but it's mostly confusion since I'm Filipino. No one ever asks about it. Does anyone watch the show Ancient Aliens? It's interesting to think about how such a symbol could have been so widespread in ancient times. To me, the swastika looks like the shape of space... universes and galaxies.3 points -
Hello, my name is Chris and I'm addicted to tattoos. "Hi, Chris." I started getting tattoos relatively late in my life (25), but got the bug immediately. I was spoiled, since my first tattoo was from Jill Bonny at State of Grace and my first tattoo related book was Tattooing from Japan to the West by Horitaka. Not only was I dumbfounded by all the pictures, but I was mesmerized by all of the interviews and I got hooked. I started to read and watch everything I could to learn and soak it all up, but I found the best shit to be the interviews of the artists speaking their minds and telling their stories... dropping all kinds of knowledge that can't be found anywhere else aside from speaking with the tattooers in person. I found books like Underway is the Only Way, We Are Tattoo, Tattoo Artist, TAM mags, and videos from Needled.com, TAM videos, Tattoo the World, Horismoku, Tattoo Age, Stoney Knows How, Gypsy Gentleman, and of course here at LST. I just recently started to dig thru the forums here and there's so much knowledge being shared! THANKS!! This bug has brought me to get an apprenticeship a little over a year ago and I come into this trade/business/industry/craft with the utmost respect for all those who have come before me. My goal is continue this passion without offending any of those people along the way. Like Kore Flatmo said in his interview, I know I'm one of those dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants. I try to get tattooed as often as possible, not only to keep collecting and feed my addiction, but to keep learning and building the relationships that make this community what it is. If you're interested, I'll post a list in the "Who HAS tattooed you?" blog comments. Thanks again for creating this great site! Peace!!2 points

Great fucking read! Just had to say it. @Scott Sylvia, that Jason McAfee interview made me laugh my ass off! Extra stoked he mentioned Deftones for khaki Dickies.. even if he peed 'em. Jondix and Tim Lehi interviews, too. And for those of us (myself included obviously) who are not tattooers, go find a shop/friend who is willing to share it give it a read. Good stuff. And no.. not on the payroll at TAM, just had a great time reading through it this morning. Best way to start the weekend!2 points -

Never heard of Clamato before. Sounds like a tomato with chlamydia.1 point -
kind of, bloody marys to me are more like a shit version of a Ceasar. I think Ceasars are better. It's Clamato juice which you don't have in some parts of the USA. Clamato is a tomato juice flavoured with clam juice. Then you add vodka, horseradish, tobasco sauce, rim a tall glass with celery salt add ice, garnish with typically a stalk of celery but it's amazing with a piece of pickled asparagus. It's like a bloody mary with but a lot more flavour and heat.1 point

Anyone tried this shit?
Shannon Shirley reacted to RoryQ for a topic
I've heard of this before but never tried it - Mamma Mia! Pizza Beer? To be honest any speciality beer which involves fruit, coffee, honey, smoke, hemp, oatmeal, guava, gingseng, whiskey or whatever is going to be 'love it or hate it'. Personally I think coffee flavours can work in a stout or porter, and there's a locally brewed hemp IPA here that is pretty popular. There's obviously there's a lot of popular beers which are aged in whiskey, rum or bourbon barrels to develop an unusual flavour. And Christmas ales, with ginger, nutmeg, etc? People have been brewing using fruits and alternatives to grains for a long time. I think special offerings do have a place in the beer market. Sure, most of the time I am happy with a conventional well-made ale, stout etc. with no bells or whistles, but there are times when it's good to see the envelope being pushed. Imagine if we applied a logic to food whereby we said he only want certain flavour combinations and nothing 'out there'... A tomato and basil element in a beer strikes me, personally, as pretty disgusting, but then again I can't understand how people can eat canned tuna, so to each their own....1 point -

got this one today from the apprentice in the shop where i work, Jon Probasco. it's from one of the Theo Mindell sheets in the Spider Murphy's book... it also makes me want to throw some diving elbows from the top rope. photo just after it was finished. also, the last few letters wrap around just a bit, hence the skewed perspective.1 point -
I dont like beer thats been fucked about with or cheese/coffee. @Ursula some of the Belgian fruit flavoured, lambic beers, are quite nice though.1 point

Here are some pretty sweet tattoos focusing on aviation. Unfortunately there isn't any credit given to the artists as to who did what. But at least you get to gander at some excellent work. The actual Tattoos in Flight blog is awesome. He always gives credit to the tattooer and since he's a pilot and huge aviation nerd gives a great description of the actual planes/battles/history, if there is one. Check it: Tattoos In Flight: Airplane, Flying, Aviation & Flight Tattoos1 point -
