  2. Here are two of the tattoos I got in my absence....both by Dave Kruseman My "thumb sleeves" are my pride and joy right now....he he he The black and grey is fully healed in (nothing fell out) and the Lighthouse was a fresher photo (maybe later that night after it was done) but there really hasn't been much fallout but I am sure he will want to hit it with a second pass!

    TAM issue 29

Great fucking read! Just had to say it. @Scott Sylvia, that Jason McAfee interview made me laugh my ass off! Extra stoked he mentioned Deftones for khaki Dickies.. even if he peed 'em. Jondix and Tim Lehi interviews, too. And for those of us (myself included obviously) who are not tattooers, go find a shop/friend who is willing to share it give it a read. Good stuff. And no.. not on the payroll at TAM, just had a great time reading through it this morning. Best way to start the weekend!

  6. I think just reading through the names of the artists attending this convention you feel it has taken a big step forward from last year. A lot of top notch artists making their first visit to NZ which is cool and especially being in New Plymouth. New Plymouth is a fairly small town, population of about 70,000 situated on the west coast of the north island. It makes a nice change from having conventions in Auckland, which is NZ's largest city ( 1.5 Mill. ) and not too different from any other big city in the world. For me Chad Koeplinger is a big highlight, im sure he will be very busy, not sure if he has been to NZ before? I personally have swung more towards japanese style tattoos and have basically planned the rest of my space to this style. i am hoping to be tattooed by one of your fellow aussies Owen Williams from Melbourne. It is going to be an awesome weekend,I hope the weather is kind like last year with not a cloud in the sky for the two days.

  12. Vapid and contradictory. How do you malign tattoos and then praise high heels and lipstick as if women need those to meet some standard of beauty? She seems to think that people only get tatttoos as a "beauty enhancement". She might want to think about another line of study.

Oh I hadn't seen the blog, that's awesome. I thought it was just a Wired article. I'm an idiot and didn't read the actual article. I just clicked the link and thought "Oh, pictures!"

    Tattoos in Flight

The actual Tattoos in Flight blog is awesome. He always gives credit to the tattooer and since he's a pilot and huge aviation nerd gives a great description of the actual planes/battles/history, if there is one. Check it: Tattoos In Flight: Airplane, Flying, Aviation & Flight Tattoos

  21. You got it! There were so many to choose from but these are some of my favorites! The first skull just makes me cringe at how badly the skin is chewed up and the lines are literally sliced in. The second and third are cover ups where the poor victim would have probably been happier with their original crappy tattoo. Normally I wouldn't just make fun of someone like this, but not only should this kid be nowhere near peoples skin, he also has an awful rockstar attitude.

    Hello!

Yeah I go to the SLC convention every year. I plan on getting tattooed by Danny Reed at the convention this year. I love that guys work/style. He did a dead lady skull on my man a while back and its just a perfect clean tattoo. A little bummed that Aaron Coleman and the rest of the guys from immaculate won't be making it this year though.

  32. Yeah so her article talking about how everyone took her original one out of context. Bullshit. She's still an idiot who thinks being skinny and wearing cool clothes is gonna make her happy. There's a poll included in the article "has your opinion of Lisa changed after reading this" 90% of people said NO. She claims no one discussed her POV and just insulted her. I'm pretty sure in this thread alone 3-6 people quoted directly from her article with direct responses, that makes me think that a lot of other people probably did too. Shannon's right, her rebuttal should have been called "19 year old runs her mouth". I wish I could walk down the street with her just to prove how many more heads get turned at the sight of my tattooed attractive self then they do at her. Wearing fancy jeans and doing your hair isn't what dudes like (at least not the smart ones who are looking for more sex). What really gets you a man, or a job, or self esteem is being confident in yourself. Maybe your confidence does come from shopping at the mall and getting your nails done. But guess what, a lot of women find confidence in themselves without all those things. Many women find their self confidence through their intelligence, through their family, their job, their education, their art. I'm sure she'd be shocked to hear a lot of women find their confidence through getting tattooed. Or what about a woman like our own board member Deb or Valerie, who are making a living and supporting themselves and in Deb's case her children through tattooing? I'd say it's a fuck of a lot more respectable to be someone like Deb who owns her own business and raised I believe 5 children and has kept up what seems to be an amazing marriage, then to be some bimbo married to a rich guy who spends her days shopping and getting her hair and nails done. Tattooing has supported me and my fiancé, has given me more opportunity to travel, meet new friends, be inspired, sell my artwork and live a happy life. Oh and the fact that she doesn't mention one thing about men getting tattooed...

  33. I was hoping maybe she would mention this forum, She mentions being called a cow, but nothing of being referred to as a mid sized sedan. I remember a time when everything you write in your writing 122 class doesn't get published on the internet for worldwide critique and I time when people realized that most people probably don't care about a 19 year olds world view. You go to love the internet and the time, we live in. It allows everyone to be an artist, writer, photographer, and even a critic regardless of talent or hard work.

  34. this was hilarious, I would like to re-title this, ''19 yr old girl runs her mouth'' ,well It doesnt make me feel any better, judgement begets judgement. oh well, maybe she realized how many bored people thier are in the world cruising the intranet (I love calling it that), me included. Now she's somebody, she's the girl that ran her pie hole. I'll forget her next week, early onset of alzimers. when one decides to write ,publicly, research is important. she could have found a myriad of feminist articles on this particular idea. I feel like I could give her a cup of coffee, or maybe a sandwich, just for stickin her dumpy neck out there.whoops.

    Traditional Japanese Style

Some tattooists should not attempt Japanese. I don't tattoo but I know it is the hardest (arguably) style to master and when its done right it looks amazing, when its done wrong it looks damn awful.

  37. In Tokyo, I've only gotten tattooed by my friend Megu (Megumu Kamata | Facebook), who also works at Invisible in New York. He did the black and gray fine-line lady head. I think he's very good and has a very unique perspective on tattooing. He works in Japanese style too. I got my latest tattoo the snake rip from Bailey Hunter Robinson in New York last December. I got the tiger from Sara Schor, also in New York about two years ago... Alas my tattoos aren't very "Japanese"!
