    Birth Announcement

This morning at 12:30am my wife had our second child. We named him London Christopher! He came in at 21 inches long and a whopping 10 pounds 14 ounces. My wife is a true champ, we (SHE!!) did a home birth. So no pain killers, totally natural!!!

  4. Everyone should be treated with respect, not just ladies! Haha thanks Slayer, but don't worry I don't hold those things against all Americans, just the ones who act like that. I'm sure the fact that I usually then tell that person what kind of an asshole they're being doesn't make it any better and usually just encourages them further. And yup, I've found the same thing in NYC, never had problems like that there, mostly a southern things, and really mostly a Florida thing 'cause I didn't have people treat me like that in Texas or the Carolinas. I believe that a lot of the problems in places like Florida stem from the poor education system there. Even in private school it can get pretty bad. I know a girl who said her school refused to teach evolution or sex-ed. I know that's pretty common but it's still totally fucked. I'm sure there's parts of Canada that are really shitty too, I just haven't had to live in them, so I don't know first hand. Apparently Vancouver is lousy with heroin and child prostitution. Fucking a little girl is a lot worse than cat calling at an adult. I don't think America is horrible, or the worst place ever. I'm sure being in a third world country is way worse than the shittiest shit in America. There's lots of things I like about America too! Even if they don't approve of the way I say 'intestine' or 'cement'.

  6. I wasn't sure it was eligible considering one of the creators of the site made this tattoo (and it's only an outline), but as per @Lochlan's suggestion I'm submitting this one: Done by Scott Sylvia of Blackheart Tattoo in SF.

Congratulations, like it has been said, your wife is a tough lady. I don't plan on having any more kids, but I am with you 100%, hospitals suck. We live across the street from a hospital, but we got some bad recommendations on it and have heard their maternity ward referred to as the baby factory by some doctors. We found what we thought was a better hospital, which in some ways it was, but still the whole experience left a lot to be desired. I wish you and your family the best and hope you get some sleep.

  12. You can but I think it's cost prohibitive that way. Basically you're baying shows of iTunes. It's good for streaming new movies and using netflix. I don't see it as a replacement for cable. But I should admit here that I am a TV junkie. The worst kind, I don't spend all my time watching TV but I need every channel that is available. To me that is a BASIC necessity!!!! So I would ask others on the switch t Apple TV instead of cable.... I don't think I could live in a world that didn't have pay TV.....

  13. Doesn't mean to cause offense, but finds it rather perplexing to have a citizen of a country apologize on behalf of that country, or a member of culture offer up apologies about the actions of another member of that culture. If I was the receiver or over heard/saw rude behavior or even criminal behavior by someone of a particular race or class, I would hope I would be cosmopolitan enough to not hold it against a larger group. For example, I don't hold ill thoughts/assumptions about the 'local' NYPD because of a series of shootings, beatings, pepper-spraying, & rape of innocent black immigrants; or protesting or intoxicated women. Well...at least not much. I'm just needling you all, not trying to start a tiff or anything! edit: unless it's not obvious, asshole misogynists are just that, regardless of country and region and ladies should be treated with respect, period.

  15. First off I would like to offer some kind of apology as a US citizen for the craptastic behavior exhibited by some of the locals. I have yet to see anything like this in the area I live (NYC). We are just too damn cold here to even strike up conversation with each other. Hell outside of the random crazy/drunk person, I have heard but a whisper spoken to me anywhere. I know in the southern and rural areas, people tend to speak up a bit more often in my experience. This did bring up a point I seemed to have forgotten though, and it is not personally aimed at you. As most people will know the US is a country of immigrants whether an immigrant themselves or a recent descendant of an immigrant. Something that comes up quite often with people who immigrate here is how much the US sucks and how much better home was... I just seem to notice this all the time and always wondered why people moved here if it is bad. I personally know that I am planning on leaving the country myself due to not agreeing with how stuff works around here all that much.

It is a huge shame that we let BIG BUSINESS decide how things are done, Doctors, Hospitals and the Insurance companies are all in this together. In the US it cost more for me to opt for a Non Hospital birth. Even though a hospital birth cost is anywhere from 10 to 20K and the midwives cost 3,500.00. Yet the deductible is less for the hospital birth? The medical community needs to be asked WHY a little more!.

Both of my children were natural births. No medication, No doctor, only a midwife (and my very tough wife). The first was in hospital and we were there for about four hours. The second was at home. My wife and I are in total agreement with the "hospitals are for illness, and broken bones" way of thinking. We are lucky to be in Canada were it is more accepted than the US where it seems like every birth turns into surgery. I know that surgery is sometimes necessary, but most of the time it is because the doctor pushed the parents into it. I know this has been the case for most of my friends that have children.

Very good question, The healthcare system is the reason. Unlike Japan, which has the best healthcare system in the world, the US has the worst. (This was published in Forbes Mag.) When my wife and I went over the goals for the birth it became very apparent that the only way to meet those goals was to have our children at home. We don't want: the birth induced, vaccines, Vitamin K, poitocin and whatever other drugs they want to force on our children. Hospitals are for curing diseases and fixing things (broken bones, stiching up wounds). There really is no need to have your child there, unless there is a complication with the birth. High risk births average 5 to 8% of all births. I don't live my life in the 5 to 8%, I live in the 92%. I recommend for anyone who is having a child to set your goals and do what's best for you. You got that right, the pain of getting a tattoo is nothing compared to the pain endured during child birth.

I was going to attempt to watch the first episode, and recoiled at the very first time I heard that. 10 seconds later, some clown had a braided beard, and I needed to turn it off. There are certain things I have no tolerance for, and braided beards are at the top of my list.

  33. Hi guys, I'm very new to the tattoo game. Besides two little flash special guys, this is my first and something I'd been wanting for a while. Eli over at Smith Street did it this past Wednesday. It's not healed yet, but I wanted to get a picture before my leg hair grew back. So stoked on this!
