I completely disagree with @ian and think you should stick with the four you already have. How about a new piercing instead? (drunk typing if anyone's wondering)

    Panther Tattoos

Looking through this thread again was fun. I have decided on a panther head from Hoyer when I go to New York. Going to get it on my "vacant" thigh (opposite the Lehi tiger on the other) I'm so stoked to finally get a panther tattooo. About time :)

  7. Isn't it the case that traditionally women didn't wear the large headdresses (warbonnets?)? It seems a bit strange to have an image of a woman wearing one, when that goes against the whole tradition. I can't really say much, though, given I don't live in America. Australian Aborigines didn't have a huge history of tattooing, so there's not much of an equivalent here.

  10. The other day I came across this piece by Chad Koeplinger And it got me thinking... I´ve seen quite a few tattoos done by respected artists with the swastika symbol incorporated in it. I assume that the majority of the members of this board already know that different variations of this symbol has been present for thousands of years before it was adopted by the nazi party in the 1920`s, but for most people today it is commonly assosiated with some form of white supremacism. Atleast in the Western part of the world. I´m sure none of the tattoos I just referred to was done with that ideoligy behind it, but almost anyone who sees a tattoo like that will immediately draw that conclusion. It makes me wonder why anyone wants it tattooed at all (even if it is a different variation of it and for completely different reasons). In the bonus episode of Tattoo Age Freddy Corbin mentioned that not even the Indian people would want the swastika symbol tattooed on them, despite it being represented throughout their religious artwork. I believe the swastika in the Koeplinger tattoo is the buddhist variation, but please correct me if I`m wrong. ..................................... (I´ve considered back and forth on whether or not to post this thread as I don´t want to offend anyone or start an unhealthy discussion. I´ll leave it up to @dari , @hogg , @steve1461686340 and the other moderators to decide it´s worth a shot.)

  13. I think people just like the imagery. It's powerful. Natives are a reminder of your wilder more human side I guess. Reminds us of a time when hunting and living off the land was the norm, as opposed to the TV pop culture trash that most of the world has been turned into. I'm into these Navajo or southwestern style Native designs that Chad Keoplinger has been doing. I'm not sure if I'd get one tattooed, but I'd totally consider a small piece if I was around him or knew him.

  14. I live in Oklahoma, and most people I know have at least a little bit of native blood. For example, I am a white guy, but I have 2 types of native blood in my veins Cherokee and Choctaw. That said, here nobody really says anything one way or another. Most people assume that you have some native American heritage if you've got a tattoo along those lines. It doesn't really answer your question, but I would say geography would play a big part in that. I also have a couple of nice native lady pieces drawn up and on display in my booth and have had nothing but compliments by Native Americans who have seen them.

    Hello

So far I have been tattooed by Eli Quinters, Steve Boltz, and Bert Krak. Most of my tattoos are from Eli though. Only Daniel Santoro is left to get tattooed by. I'll upload pictures as soon as I can. Would like to post a separate thread about it. Thanks!

  28. This is ridiculous! I had to squint, twist my head sideways, smoke a huuuge bowl, and stare at the shirt for an hour. When that didn't work, 'shrooms man. 'Shrooms. That's when I think I saw the swastikas. But I was actually more concerned with the 100 +'s chasing after me for not going to midnight mass.

  30. that's exactly what i was thinking, the ultimate irony. makes you wonder if they are really into what he's doing or because someone else has told them it's cool. the great thing about that shirt too is that it's also easy enough to look at it and just see a bunch of repeating crosses. i'm offended that this shirt is trying to subliminally convert me to christianity. yarg...

  31. I have Baphomet on my left hand. So unless I'm wearing gloves I pretty much always have to rock the 'uncomfortable looks/questions' risk every time I talk to people. A little kid asked me once if it was "The Devil". Instead of getting all wordy, I said "yeah, because the DEVIL IS COOOOL". He smiled, the little scamp. Even kids love the dark lord.

    The Swastika symbol in tattoos

    Backpiece reference anyone?
    1 point
  33. Yea exactly. I think when people don't understand the meaning behind a tattoo, it works well for a conversation piece. I can't imagine that conversation going well over a swastika unless they were truly open-minded. I just wish random strangers would quit calling my poseidon tattoo "aw it's little mermaids dad!" -____-

    The Swastika symbol in tattoos

I don't have time to read this whole thread, although I am glad that it's been brought up on LST. My two cents: I 100% understand that symbol was around and used in several cultures long way before that delusional psychopathic meth head chose it to represent himself and the drugged up soldiers fighting his Blitzkrieg. I understand that it has a powerful meaning, completely unrelated to death squads, extermination camps, gas chambers, mass graves or burning emaciated bodies, but that's what it means to me. No matter how nice the tattoo or painting, even when I want to see past it, it's there for me. Jondix had drawn some beautiful designs incorporation the symbol for my husband, who had the courtesy to ask first, and I had to say no, too much baggage for me. But if it means something completely different for you, go for it. I don't care what the rest of you do with your bodies, but I just can't have it in my own house.

    Tattooed Characters .

Its great to see other media forms doing their homework and utilising more tattooed subjects . The first example of a Marvel hero being tattooed occured in the Pacific Overlords with the appearance of Kayama Inouye aka Irezumi . Sega went straight to the source for the Yakuza game series and utilised the enormous talents of Horitomo . And most recently Dr Lakra has exhibited pieces tattooed with his black and grey flavour .

I know that Mike Wilson is probably the panther king, but Bert Krak and Chad Koeplinger do some really nice ones as well. Richard Stell does great cats of all kinds, and on Flickr I have seen a dagger panther head back piece by Scott that is super fucking nice. Also Timothy Hoyer has some really cool ones.
