Happy New Year from Tokyo
daveborjes and one other reacted to taaarro for a topic
In Tokyo, I've only gotten tattooed by my friend Megu (Megumu Kamata | Facebook), who also works at Invisible in New York. He did the black and gray fine-line lady head. I think he's very good and has a very unique perspective on tattooing. He works in Japanese style too. I got my latest tattoo the snake rip from Bailey Hunter Robinson in New York last December. I got the tiger from Sara Schor, also in New York about two years ago... Alas my tattoos aren't very "Japanese"!2 points -

Dan Higgs
beez and one other reacted to David Flores for a topic
Found this pic of my boss, you can really see the panther head done by Dan Higgs on his chest. I would say the tattoo was done in 1991-1992 and the photo was 1994, but it still looks pretty good to this day. Funny I was hoping to find a photo of his Freddy Corbin Rock of Ages on his ribs, but all you can see is a little water in this photo.2 points -

www.thread-wizard.com - Home = good stuff. IDK, I don't feel any shame promoting myself. I don't have a retail space/street shop, a street team, corporate sponsors, or any of that, so someone has to do it ; )1 point

anyone got some drawing tips?
Shane Solusar Bywaters reacted to Shannon Shirley for a topic
Ive drawn since before I can remember, I kinda dont get the questions. I took instructions as a kid, I now know, all one needs is motivation . So, get motivated. this is the escense of art, everyones mind, hand, thoughts and feelings are different. the truer you are to yourself the better the art. posing isnt good. I have always in my life, tried to get those that ''cant draw'' to do so. because representationalism is where its at. bad art doesnt exist, unless its a lie. lies arent good. Do you.1 point -
@Iwar Stefano C from Frith Street. My wife said it wasn't too bad, Stephanos got quite a light hand. But then my wifes a tough old bird.1 point

I have two spaces for t-shirts in my closet. One for S&D shirts and one for others. There's probably around half a dozen more in the clothing hamper. Needless to say I like their shirts.1 point

"i'm getting this tattoo because i'm part cherokee" or "i'm getting this tattoo because i'm irish" - i give gingers a particular hard time about this and tell them that they are actually scottish and were just used as political pawns for the king of england to take over my ancestors country.1 point

Tattoo Elite International always has good flash for sale. (goggle tattoo elite international) You could also check out Headband Brothers where you will usually find some really great paintings from Scott Harrison and others (google headband brothers or scott harrison) Dan Higgs has some paintings up for sale on his blog (google higgs gallery) If you google 'blackheart tattoo blog' they often have information on art and prints for sale by all the guys who work there. Very awesome stuff. If you go on Facebook and search out "deep six graphics" he makes prints for a lot of tattooers and always knows who's got something cool for sale. If you ever are in New York city I'd suggest Black Gold Records and Antiques for their selection of awesome art and curios. I'm sure it's easy to find their info online. Lots of people here have their blog or shop linked in their signature or profile and I know from checking them out that lots of them have art and prints for sale as well. Personally, my two favourite paintings (that I own) are by Robert Ryan (who I'm sure you can find contact info for online, his stuff is really amazing and reasonably priced) and the other is by 'Taco Warewolf' who you can also find online, it's not tattoo related but I love it. The favourite prints I own are the panther girl by Mike Wilson (you can buy it on tattoo elite international or from him at conventions/his shop) and my dude owns some really rad Jeff Rassier prints that you can probably get on the Blackheart website or by contacting them at the shop. anyways hope that helps ya a bit!1 point

I recently offered to help my friend move his girlfriend out of her parents house. She told me that I needed to wear long sleeves because her parents would not let me into their home with visible tattoos. They didn't get my help moving.1 point -

He got the lower third of the 3/4 sleeve complete, here's a little taste :D I've got another appt. next friday and the friday after that... hopefully he'll be able to finish it this trip!!!1 point -
Traditional Japanese Style
hogg reacted to NickLarson for a topic
Can anyone recommend some "new school" Japanese artists? I love traditional Japanese work but I also love more detailed stuff. I have both my feet done, one a Hanya and the other a Kapala skull. I had my artist do them in a more new school style and I love them. The skull is not finished in this pic. I am going to start my other leg soon and wanted to do a black/grey piece. I was thinking of doing a couple Foo Dog statues protecting a temple. I am having a hard time coming up with a good reference though. I thought if I could look through some similar tattoo's I could get some idea's.1 point -

This is an eagle done by Rosie C. This looks like the eagle that is untying they hula girl that says "Don't worry, I help you" in the book. My dentist is his grandson. The guy who did the tile in my bathrooms had this tattoo. I will locate the NKC tattoos he had on his arms and post those too.1 point -
