This used to annoy (and flatter) me, but not so much anymore. Now I find it more strange than anything else. I have seen 4 or 5 versions of that wolf/rose, and I don't understand why. The customers could have just asked their tattooer to draw something similar, and I'm sure everyone would be happier.

This is ridiculous! I had to squint, twist my head sideways, smoke a huuuge bowl, and stare at the shirt for an hour. When that didn't work, 'shrooms man. 'Shrooms. That's when I think I saw the swastikas. But I was actually more concerned with the 100 +'s chasing after me for not going to midnight mass.

I'll be finishing my tiger and panther backpiece with Stewart Robson and then getting him to do my ribs. Also getting something from Todd Noble on my left leg and I'll be hopefully heading to the bay area convention this year. I've decided my legs are going to be lots of small tattoos as my torso is pretty much filled with big pieces (apart from my ribs which will be getting sorted asap)

In February I'm booked in with Ching from East Tattoo to finish my backpiece ... Just a half-day should do it. My right arm half-seeve is a bit of a mish-mash- most of it is by a deceased Irish artist, barring an oni head by Mo Coppoletta on the inside. Ching has measured to bring it down into a full sleeve, to be done either during another European guest spot or else around / at the London Tattoo Convention. We've discussed a big hannya mask, but it's up in the air - the only thing I've specified is that I want big contrast and something that is readable from a distance. I've got my name on a list for an appointment with Chad Koeplinger when he's back in Ireland - date to be announced as far as I know. Got a few ideas for this but nothing concrete yet. If I could get him for two appointments I probably would take them. When I'm in Chicago I'm thinking of getting a nautical star / north star compass on my right knee. Chris Smith has done a homeward bound on that same leg and I would likely go back to him, but I've been following Nick Colella and Mario Desa on their instagram accounts too... ...And my GF is starting her backpiece with Shige in Japan in November - four sessions...

@Stewart Robson, I was hoping you'd say, "Lie back and think of England." I always try to take deep, controlled breaths. For me, it helps to inhale deeply before the needle hits, then exhale slowly for the length of the needle attack. I only do that when things get really bad, though. Like for the entirety of my ribs.

I usually think its best to get your tattooer to source great reference material. Most of us (tattooers) spend a great deal of time/money/effort collecting source material or information for our tattoos. Some of us even do it away from the internet. But in the interests of not poo-pah-ing a discussion: Try searching the internet for reference material that ISNT a tattoo. Adding the term 'tattoo' to a google search is like initiating a shit-filter where it only delivers the worst possible images. Good luck.

I really don't get why someone would want a tattoo that’s been specifically designed for someone else. The copy is never going to be as good as the original. You will ultimately end up disappointed. Its a similar mentality as people buying knock off designer goods. The difference being that when the shitty handbag/watch falls to bits you are not stuck with it for life.

Detroit Auto Show, the biggest one in the US, is coming up in January. I happen to be in town at the same time for a wedding so I finally get to check it out and I'm super stoked. Is anyone else checking it out? Am I the only geek who's excited for it? I will be take a pic in my LST tee for @gougetheeyes to add to the collection.

Too many tattoos planned for 2012 so far... Finishing my gypsy lady on my arm, as well as adding more to start off a traditional sleeve. Deciding between a entire "calf sleeve" on my left of a dragon/phoenix or finishing off my right leg with some epic Thomas Hooper geometric craziness, and top it off the possibility of some traditional occult tattoos on my upper right thigh. For sure 2013 will have no tattoos at all after such a tattoo-packed year!

Finish my right arm. Get my other foot done. First tattoo on my chest/belly. Avoided getting anything on my torso so far out of dislike for my own flab, now decided I shouldn't hate it, but decorate it :D

I dig this a lot. We are all people with a common interest and like sharing experiences thru this site. I get just as much of a kick talking to someone who looking for a first tattoo or a tattooer I admire. When it comes down to it we are all just people with our own interests. I could give a shit about people opinions on my tattoos. If you like it, great! If you dont, nod your head and move on... we dont need a system for making people think they got a shitty tattoo. This isnt Inkmasters, its an awesome tattoo community.

Best/Worst movie: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, we have a little one and we haven't gotten out to the movies that much.... 9.) Best/Worst album: With iTunes I don't really do albums.... To be honest, the foot isn't really a traditional Japanese spot to tattoo. You could get many different images done their though, sea creatures, small animals, masks... are you wanting a background with it or just a "one point" japanese tattoo? For Bunshin Horitoshi's site it is easy to navigate once you look around a bit, but here is a link to his tattoos ????????? Gotta say, when dars and stots are done right it makes a world of difference! Be it from empty space or a portion of your arm you got fucked up by someone who, at least at the time, didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.. or had never even seen stars and dots filler.. So @Perez helped me out by doing some little filler yesterday and trying to get the half of my arm that was starred and dotted and looked like shit back on track. Here are two really terrible photos but I am so pumped that my arm basically looks the way I always thought it should! Can't believe I waited this long to get this done.. Thanks buddy!!
