went into frith street on saturday to see if there was any space and got this sweet Rock of Ages by emiliano. If they have space for walk ins or if you can grab a cancellation you definitely need to go get tattooed there!3 points -

Smoking cannabis is risky business. I bet no one who attended a university ever smoked it2 points -
Had some time to kill yesterday between meetings and clients though not enough to go home and relax so did the usual, "I'll go hangout at blackheart and say hello". In the back of my mind wanting to get tattooed though knew they were probably all busy but I got lucky, Cody Miller was free. So got my elbow, a long narrow open space on my arm done and some quick filler. While getting tattooed realized, I never shared some photos as was asked after my previous post in this thread.....I think I have more impromptu tattoos then actual appointment tattoos. Damn I love walk-in shops so long story short once these spots on my arm heal I'll post some pictures of my right arm as that will be easiest rather than pictures of my whole body which is mostly covered in impromptu tattoos. BTW @jade1955 do you make appointments at Frith St or just do a lot of walk-ins? Very impressed with how often you get tattooed and the quality!2 points

the biggest thing is to focus on a goal and create the plan towards the goal and not in reaction to the negative elements that can be observed. as an example, i think really great restaurants are focusing on who they want to appeal to rather than worrying about how many mcdonalds there are on the same block or town. i don't claim to know much about anything but i've removed negative influences from my life. i don't watch the news, i don't search craigslist or ebay for stuff regarding tattooing, i don't watch youtube videos of scratchers (made that mistake somewhat recently from a referring link to one), and i don't engage in conversation with the local folks regarding what shops they hate etc. all i can do is to work towards the things i want to do and be kind and generous when given the opportunity and hope that the work i put in will one day pay off.1 point

How will the strong survive the many?

the talent pool is ever expanding and if we dont reach out to expand the client pool we will all drown. tv exposure, be it nonsense or not, was the inevitable. with a growing industry we need the clients. dont worry about how tv molds their expectations, get the people in the door and educate them. make them believe in you and your shop. i remember watching the sailor jerry documentary and it touching down on his distaste for lyle tuttle. he didnt like how tuttle was putting himself out there on main street but the truth of the matter is that if guys didnt do that then the business would of never grown and most of us probably wouldnt be tattooers. just be thankful that in an economy that has finally effected our industry, that were all still here and doing what we love. tattoos are a luxury at this point so you kinda gotta put yourself out that as the guys/girls that will provide you with the best this luxury has to offer. of course its always nice to hold onto our roots and be true to the ways of old... we certainly stand on the shoulders of giants but if you dont recognize the path ahead, your path will end1 point -
I think you should have taken @ian 's advice... I'm not trying to hurt your feelings or be a dick, but when you ask "what do you guys think?" on a tattoo forum I assume you want honest opinions be it positive or negative.1 point

Chances are, at this stage in her life, she's not interviewing for a CEO position. If I were to see her in person I would probably be more fixated on the lack of eyebrows which creeps me out a little. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets featured on The Soup or Chelsea Lately and gets her 15 min of fame like that nut job that made herself look like a tiger. She was warned of the potential repercussions of the tattoo beforehand and made her decision. And if she regrets it in 10 years, there are great laser procedures these days and she'll have a very entertaining story and learning experience for her kids. Im not in the tattoo industry so maybe my aversion to it isnt as strong. For me, when I think of poor work ethic, the type of person I think of the plastic surgeon who performed 14 surgeries on Heidi Montag in 1 day and made her look like a crazy blow up doll or the piece of shit lawyer who represented Casey Anthony or the thousands of mortgage brokers who contributed to people losing their homes. Those people are life ruiners. I'm sure there are a lot of tattoo artists that would have passed on this work of art but at the end of the day, if she regrets it, she can wear a beanie until she saves up enough money for laser.1 point -

Article....Now That I'm Sixty, Do I regret it?
JustJoey reacted to TrixieFaux for a topic
I like this topic. I got my first tattoo at age 22. Then it took me until I was 36 to get my second one... Third at 41. Fourth and fifth just this summer at 42. I'm getting them at an accelerated pace now. Maybe it's midlife crisis! Not really because I'm at a good place in my life. Maybe I'm trying to hold onto part of my former punk rock identity. Whatever it is, I don't care. I think it's just that I like tattoos and I'm settled in my career and so I feel free to do as I wish. People haven't said this to me personally--but when I hear or read about people saying things like, "She's going to regret those tattoos when she's old and wrinkled and they don't look so good", I just think that is just a lame way of saying "I don't like tattoos". Old and wrinkled is old and wrinkled... I don't think an old and wrinkled un-tattooed arm is going to look much better than an old and wrinkled tattooed one. If I live to be old and wrinkled I might just want to cover my arms with long-sleeved shirts if my skin has varicose veins and liver spots. But then, maybe tattoos can cover up liver spots and varicose veins. I think tattooed grandmas are cute and I hope to become one someday.1 point -
Here's mine. It's from a Gil Elvgren painting and tattooed by Shane O'Neill in two LONG sessions. It wasn't fully healed when these pics were taken, and no the front tire isn't flat it just looks off in the picture.1 point
