Lance did this one ten years ago. He called me back the next day freaking out. He said he woke up in the middle of the night and remembered that he forgot to tattoo the nipple on her. Then said, show it around, and if nobody says anything, then we wont worry about it.............if anyone notices, come back and lets put that nipple on her.3 points -

JAllen and one other reacted to Kevin Campbell for a topic
*continued from previous post Had I been smart, I would have (obviously) asked her to take out the shit where I berate my customer and call her a crackhead and all that. She obviously didn't smoke crack, and to call her a dumbass, well, that is just flat out rude. I was just so concerned with the actual technical application looking so shitty in the picture that it didn't even cross my mind to check what I said to the girl from Vice in all the e-mails. I had so much anxiety about the linework looking so jacked in the fucking picture that I jumped on the opportunity to have a decent picture of the actual tattoo taken from a proper angle put out that I didn't even realize that I sounded like a total fucking piece of shit asshole in the stupid "interview". And then, to rub it all in, the picture that they posted on the blog that shows the damn thing got run through photoshop or some shit so you can't really even see it. Fuck me. I'm not going to argue whether or not tattooing a face is ethically/morally wrong, because I've done it plenty of times before and I'll probably do it again, but as far as me sounding like a fucking asshole, I sincerely apologize to anyone who is legitimately bummed out.2 points -

I've been getting my old work covered finally. All of that Little Vinnie flash I thought was so cool in the early nineties is being covered up with big bold color work. Lance McClaine covered a piece on my right arm with some bold roses......Corey Rogers did a Panther head bustin out of a rose, then TimmyTatts did a big bowling pin eagle on my right forearm........Still have a ways to go, but I am loving my arms again.2 points -
Brooklyn's Mike Perfetto The link is to my buddy Fernando's blog post about his experience visiting this classic/unique Brooklyn shop MICHAELANGELO | LIONS NYC The shop is in the basement of a house. It's first come first serve. You wait in line, put your name on the board and go walk around to kill time. One by one the names get knocked off the list. If you are not there you lose your spot. He opens at four. I think they got there a few hours early and dudes were already waiting.2 points

The Swastika symbol in tattoos

Not sure where else to put this, but since most of the board's parents probably check this thread, I figure it's as good a place as any. I was talking to our 2.5 year old daughter the other night. Here's our conversation: said, "You know, when Daddy was little, he had curly blond hair just like yours." She said, "And you had little hands." "That's right! I did have little hands." "And you had toes and feet, too, Daddy." "Right, and I still have toes and feet. They're just bigger. And when you grow up, you'll have bigger toes and feet." Then she replied, "And tattoos!" I laughed and asked what her tattoos will be. "Skulls! And animals." "What kind of animals?" "A donkey! And a turkey. And skeletons!" It was a proud moment. But donkeys and turkeys?2 points

I don't have time to read this whole thread, although I am glad that it's been brought up on LST. My two cents: I 100% understand that symbol was around and used in several cultures long way before that delusional psychopathic meth head chose it to represent himself and the drugged up soldiers fighting his Blitzkrieg. I understand that it has a powerful meaning, completely unrelated to death squads, extermination camps, gas chambers, mass graves or burning emaciated bodies, but that's what it means to me. No matter how nice the tattoo or painting, even when I want to see past it, it's there for me. Jondix had drawn some beautiful designs incorporation the symbol for my husband, who had the courtesy to ask first, and I had to say no, too much baggage for me. But if it means something completely different for you, go for it. I don't care what the rest of you do with your bodies, but I just can't have it in my own house.2 points

The wife and I took another photo (with an iguana!) that didn't come out, so I can only offer up this lonely, squinty photo of myself representing LST down around Puerto Morelos, before I gave up on snorkeling and felt queasy on the boat. SUCCESS If you own an LST shirt you are now obligated to go somewhere different and take an awkward photo to post..1 point -

This is an eagle done by Rosie C. This looks like the eagle that is untying they hula girl that says "Don't worry, I help you" in the book. My dentist is his grandson. The guy who did the tile in my bathrooms had this tattoo. I will locate the NKC tattoos he had on his arms and post those too.1 point -

I had to get rid of the bars on the windows so people wouldn't be afraid to come in. I bought the shop from Larry Hanks, and he had a perfect seven foot long wooly mammoth tusk he was engraving sitting in the shop. He took the tusk with him so I cleaned the window up.1 point -
And then a girl got this on her forehead..
JAllen reacted to Kevin Campbell for a topic
Yeah man. This whole thing got blown way the fuck out of proportion. The chick from vice originally contacted me to interview the girl, not me. The "interview" actually wasn't an interview at all. I was just telling her about what went down over the course of a few e- mails, and then all of a sudden she was like " hey, i put our conversation into a question and answer format so it's easier to read, and put it up on the vice blog! Is that cool?" Dumbass me didn't realize that like 50 billion people read the stupid vice blog, and so I agreed to it, without really thinking to re-read the thing to basically censor myself. I even went as far as sending her some pictures to put up with the story, mostly because I was so concerned that the photo that Norm took made the tattoo look so flawed technically.1 point -

The story keeps cycling on my various social networking sites and blogs. Some people taking really personal shots at Kevin (And his shopmates, but in fairness, I know there' s a personal subtext to one) and everyone pretty much getting holier than thou. Kevin... if you shade that piece, do NOT take pictures.1 point -

Having lived in the West Country, UK for most of my life it would have to be Bristols Les Skuse. I would have loved to have been tattooed by Les, he died in 1973 a couple of years after I got tattooed for the first time. Here is some of Les Skuses work.1 point -

Lance Mc Clain is still goin strong in Hawaii, my mate just got tattooed off him. Danny Romo is still doin 3 days at least at Shamrock in Hollywood for the real old East LA style. Phil Bond is probably still tattooing in Torquay England with 2 of his sons, he always did great tattoos. And Dennis Cockell has a new shop in Soho in London and is there all week, Dennis painted some of the nicest tattoo flash ever, most of it is still in the shop in Walkers Court that Darryl Gates has now. There are a lot of real good tattooers with 30 years in still tattooing today, sitting in shops waiting for ya to walk in and get something put on you.1 point -
The Swastika symbol in tattoos
jade1955 reacted to gougetheeyes for a topic
Also funny, ManWoman is a friend of my brother-in-law's family! So he grew up around him and we got to talking about this very subject over the summer. He (brother-in-law) was amazed that I'd heard of ManWoman and was really interested in the idea of "reclaiming" the symbol. I'd say most of the tattoos seem like a genuine attempt to reincorporate or reclaim the symbol, but it's the presentation that can get people, to state the obvious. Seems about half and half; half a more understated, "respectful" design where it's incorporated more subtly, and the other half is the big, loud swastikas, which I actually really like but don't think I'm ready to sport myself. Also the wearer of the tattoo may not always be the sharpest tool in the shed.. Yep, I'd agree. I doubt most people are.. mature enough or could speak intelligently about the design. Even if you're an articulate genius you can't control other peoples' reactions. Personally, I thought about asking for one with my last tattoo (with some other background elements) but decided that since it was on my shin, I didn't think (and still don't think) I'd like to be in the situation where I'm wearing shorts and who knows who I'd have to explain myself to. It's funny, too, since I'd be willing to bet most of us when we started getting tattoos, a lot of it was wrapped up in doing your own thing or "flouting society's conventions" or whatever. Maybe not anymore, but I digress.. I've been thinking of incorporating the symbol into a much larger piece on my thigh so I can control who sees it. A lot of it is shock value but that's usually necessary for some kind of change. But that's a huge responsibility.1 point -
I don't enjoy doing full paragraphs of lettering in a "type face" style. If someone asks for something "hidden" in their tattoo, such as lettering or a name,I ask them......Why are you getting something tattooed on you that you aren't proud enough to wear openly in the world? I was taught to tattoo anything that walked in the door and I hardly ever turn down a tattoo.I just cannot understand the reason that people want to mess up a perfectly nice tattoo with, names.initials, vines that turn into names, names in white ink, names hidden in flowers,etc.. I wish more people in this area would figure out what they want, stop watching TV and get a tattoo that in no way involves a sad story or their favorite 15 lines of Sylvia Plath poetry or a half page of bible verse tattooed with brown pigment.I quit doing solid bands around anything and I have never tattooed a face.I don't believe in it.Inner lip is fine.I just tell them that it's going to be the most painful and expensive 10 minutes they have had in a while.1 point

Found this pic of my boss, you can really see the panther head done by Dan Higgs on his chest. I would say the tattoo was done in 1991-1992 and the photo was 1994, but it still looks pretty good to this day. Funny I was hoping to find a photo of his Freddy Corbin Rock of Ages on his ribs, but all you can see is a little water in this photo.1 point -
