I think Drake should send you a fat-ass tip for saving his life, because now he'll be able to see that crazy chick coming from 100 yards away.3 points

Kevin Killeens old shop on the quays in Wexford Ireland. This shop was right on the harbour, the boats came in 20 feet away. This tattoo is by Kevin as well. He was doin this kind of Dave Lum crazy psychedelic mushroom stuff independently here in the 80s and 90s.3 points

Basically, what Rich said. If you had any integrity as a tattoo artist you wouldn't be doing stuff like that, even if they want it. If you're that good of an artist you shouldn't be worried about loosing the $200 or whatever she spent on it. So yes, @Kevin Campbell, if I was you I would have turned her down and let the shop next door do it. And no, I don't know you and you don't know me, but even if it was someone I knew who did it, I'd feel the same way. My fiancé is a tattoo artist at a very respected shop and if he had done it, I'd feel the same way. What I meant about making the rest of us look bad is - when people who don't know anything about tattooing or being tattooed see that tattoo and hear the supposed story of her being high they will assume that this is a normal thing and that tattoo artists don't care about their clients health and safety and that people are out there just tattooing horrible things on intoxicated people with no regard to that person's life. I feel like that's the type of thing that makes people scared about going to their local shop, thinking it's going to just be a bunch of idiots with face tattoos, drunk and high putting permanent marks on people. It reminds me in a way of that girl who had all the stars tattooed on her face and then when she realized how bad of an idea it was she tried to blame the tattooer which turned into a story about how tattooers will put thing on people who are passed out without them asking for it. It just seems like there's so much negative press about tattoos that adding to that pile just further hurts the industry.2 points

Her decision making is obviously poor. She will be laughed at and looked down upon for the rest of her life. As a professional artist with some integrity she should be advised by the artist (which she was, apparently) .. But ,then to say,‘ok ,lets do it ,that’s what you want ‘is straight down for the dollar,no matter the outcome,no worries for a fellow human. Just a straight drug dealer attitude ‘they’ll get it from someone else,I lose out‘….’she’ll go next door and get it done badly’ In this situation ,who cares if its done badly ,it’s typical of a cheap bong shop/tattoo party scratcher studio . Professional tattooers wouldn’t touch it as they love and respect the craft and don’t need to sensationalise and damage it. Professional tattooers understand there are people not thinking straight walking through the door every day,a professional assesses the situation. A good professional is busy and and does not need to make a quick buck with blood on their hands.2 points -

i'm going to agree with kevin in this debate. it's not the drake tattoo on this woman's forehead that is going to ruin her life, it's her decision making ability.2 points -

Cool. Sorry to see you think I'm some kind of moron for using the term "the industry". I guess you haven't realized that tattooing is one these days. Thanks for replying with something intelligent and insightful to help me better understand why you would do a tattoo like that. I think I'm done posting in this thread after this one. Good luck in your career, hopefully this tattoo won't hurt your shop's business. As I've said before in other threads, if you or anyone has a problem with what I've said here feel free to send me a message. I'm sure you're not a horrible person, I just personally think you made the wrong call on this one, and I only brought it up because of this thread. It's not like I went around the internet calling you a dick hiding behind an anonymous screen name, we're all here having a discussion about an event. People are going to have different opinions. My intention was not to make you feel bad about yourself or your work. I was only expressing my opinion on the matter, as were the other people here. It's not specifically that she got 'drake', I am a firm believer that face and hand tattoos are to be applied only on people you know well, who are also heavily tattooed and fully comprehend what having those areas tattooed means. Anyways whatever, this is just going to turn into a huge argument that I don't want to be part of.1 point -

I think if the girl was high on something then tattooing her was wrong. You cant make those kinds of decisions when your out of your head. Tattooing someone in a vulnerable state of mind is nonsense . Irresponsible.1 point -

Tack one more on the side for Kevin. A tattooers job is to inform a customer if their tattoo will inhibit their life after the tattoo is done. According to Kevin that was done, who cares if the girl was on something or not, tons of tattoos are done that way. Within our own community that know of Mr. Campbell we care, but outside of us no one will look at the artist that did the tattoo, just the finished product. It may become an infamous forehead tattoo like many from this site mug shots - Ugliest Tattoos - Funny Tattoos Who cares, not your body and not your tattoo. People will always have some form of bad feelings towards tattoos and I say let them if they feel the need. If a stupid person gets a stupid tattoo judge that person alone, not by the whole.1 point -

Ship's propellers. Don't ask me to elaborate. I am not a sailor and the only thing that I really know about it is from a Sailor Jerry tattoo in the book "American Tattoo Master". I am sure that he wasn't the first to do it, but his is the one I am familiar with.1 point -

1.) Personal high of 2011? In general, some point during a trip to Japan with my GF - possibly when we were drinking in a little bar called Quasimodo's in Kyoto. The guy who runs it converted his garage into a bar after he retired, and he tends bar and plays jazz records all night. Great scotch selection. In tattooing terms, probably the point at which I had the bulk of my backpiece by Ching finished and I could see how the contrasts were going to pop out. 2.) Personal low of 2011? Probably my GF breaking her hand at a martial arts seminar that I organised. These things happen, but it was pretty lousy because it's the third time she's broken her hand in two years (three different sports, three different kinds of accident). Because I was organising the thing I couldn't drop everything and go off to get it sorted out with her, which was less than ideal. 3.) Best LST Thread? The backpiece thread inspires me. 4.) Worst LST Thread? The Bubbleberry thread got pretty unsightly. 5.) Favorite tattoo (on you): My back, I suppose. I like the homeward bound design on my thigh by Chris Smith (Deluxe Tattoo) also. 6.) Favorite tattoo (on someone else): Tough one. I think probably one of Shige's backpieces - maybe the black and grey one that he did as a tribute to falconry. 7.) Favorite artist? Sorry, a bit boring but probably Shige. I think he is in a league of his own. 8.) Best/Worst movie: Drive = best. The last Resident Evil movie = worst. 9.) Best/Worst album: I didn't buy a single newly released album in 2011 - amazing, I know. I wasn't illegally downloading either... I just had a non- new music year. Listened to a lot of Avett Brothers. 10.) Biggest guilty pleasure: Craft beer. 11.) Best show/concert you did and did not attend: Alison Krauss + Union Station in Dublin - missed it. 12.) Sum up the year in one word: CRUNCH.1 point

1.) Personal high of 2011? Big one is getting my sleeve completed in Kyoto next week (yay!) tied with that is it'll be my third trip to Japan this year, and I completed my degree 2.) Personal low of 2011? My Mum is really sick with her heart & emphysema and my younger brother was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis and will be in a wheelchair within 6 months, he's 25. 3.) Best LST Thread? Latest Lowdown, ICP great for laughs and Old tattoo photos 4.) Worst LST Thread? @Ursula reminded me of bubblebutts thread about her, that was some bullshit 5.) Favorite tattoo (on you): My sleeve from Horinao once finished 6.) Favorite tattoo (on someone else): @hogg his back by Jill Bonny (haha hoggs' all up in this category) 7.) Favorite artist? Horinao (Cat Claw Tattoo-z) obvious personal reasons for that one ;) and I'm sure it'll change next year 8.) Best/Worst movie: Best - Didn't really see to many this year that I can think of... but for now we'll say Kung Fu Panda 2 Worst -"A Serbian Movie" @dcostello I always kept forgetting to mention this to you homie, but I read up on it on IMDB... I could barely read through the description lol. Seriously, there was no way in hell I was watching it!! 9.) Best/Worst album: Best: 'Trem - For The Term of His natural Life' Worst: To many to list... 10.) Biggest guilty pleasure: Flying to Japan on the regular :D 11.) Best show/concert you did and did not attend: Even though I work in the Music Industry, I didn't really 'attend' to many gigs that I wasn't working this year (don't really want to count those)... wait, I did see Tool & Rammstein again earlier this year. Lol forgot about that. 12.) Sum up the year in one word: roller coaster (its two I guess?)1 point

I loved the video, I worked for GTC in Modesto from @ 1990 til @ 1998. I had some good times, Charlie had a lot of stories and I may have heard them all. I went to some of those conventions back then and because of my associations was introduced to a lot of them older cats , Jack ,Freddy, and I cant remember too well but I believe Mike was one of them I met. I was very intimidated by these dudes, I remember Freddy just sort of scared me by his presence. these were pretty hardcore people with a lot of experiences and I had heard about a lot of it from Charlie. It really reminds me of how this business has changed. Its funny, I remember Scott Sylvia had told me that I frightened him the first time I walked in his shop around 89'. Its f#ckin hilarious to me. Honesty and confidence is often frightening. Most of these old cats were pretty straight up, If they said it, they meant it. Thats sort of rare nowadays.FYI, That backpiece in that video of the bullfight and roses is Charlie's. I guess that's about all I've got ,just thought Id drop it. It was a different time.1 point -

Mike Brown was a good man and a good tattooer till the end. I am glad I got to work with him and get tattooed by him and learned how do do proper script from him. He wrote the nicest Saoirse I'd ever seen and I still use it. He was also the kinda fella who would always send people your way and knew the value of a proper introduction. He did some brilliant flash, proper fine line black n grey style.. and some of the best gangster cartoons goin. God bless him. R.I.P.1 point -

Crazy it has been a whole year since Pinky has passed. First pic was taken at Dragon Tattoo in 1983, second in 2008 when State of Grace Convention was in San Jose. No matter how many times my boss told him he lives in Oregon, Pinky insisted the whole time he lives in Washington. RIP PINKY!1 point -
