  4. . Mixing styles is fine, but I would skip the 3/4 sleeve idea. If you want symmetry then it would be hard to match up with anything other than another Japanese style sleeve. Go ahead and get the Japanese full sleeve, and then do whatever you want on the other arm. I am speaking from experience.

    Traditional Japanese Style

I suggest going to shop and finding an artist whose work you like. They know what looks good and will put things where they need to go.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Oh, I'm familiar with Clark. He does great work. In fact, I met Stewart at the SFO pre-party and told him that I'd seen an incredible Clark North sleeve earlier that day (with the world's largest finger waves) on a guy in downtown SF. And 5 hours is fast for an outline of that size and detail. Not a ton of fun for you, though. :)

  11. Yeah that. It is the job of the tattoo artist to take your idea and put it together into something that is going to work visually and fit on your body. To be totally honest is is one of the funnest parts for the artist also.

  12. I'm definately in the Dan Higgs camp on the subject of mixing different styles. As the saying goes "Suits the wearer, not the starer"

  23. Eh, I'm already a member of 3, (one of which I own) I never post on those, probably wouldn't post on this one either. They either a.) get full of really good people who never post because they're too busy tattooing, or b.) they get overrun with a bunch of hacks asking the few good tattooers for help discerning asses from holes in the ground. Thats been my experience with them over the past few years anyway.

  27. @NathanShearer, Frank was mentioned one page ago, by Iwar. It's terrifying how quickly Frank learns. I wish he would tattoo more and make music less. I like his tattoos and flash. Miles doesn't have an internet 'presence' other than the Frith Street website but he's been tattooing in and around London or Australia for 20 years. He was at IntoYou for quite a while. Eye-opening stories for sure. 99% of them not fit for the internet. ;)

  28. I'm relatively new to the forum and the tattoo world but I definitely think that Frank Carter deserves recognition. I've got three tattoos done by him and couldn't be happier with them. One of the tattoos was a walk in done about a month ago which he stayed late to finish which I thought was really cool. He's a good guy who does awesome tattoos and couldn't recommend him enough. Also Miles at Frith Street Tattoo is an amazing artist, got my first tattoo from him and it's incredible. He can do any style and has a ton of cool stories about tattooing and travelling. Sorry about the quality of some of the pictures, I'm no photographer. The top three tattoos are by frank and the bottom one is by miles.

  29. Adding to Stewart's earlier post about all of the guys working at Into You around the same time. There was a guy that worked there named Jason Saga. He did a lot of Japanese stuff that was pretty incredible. He passed away a few years ago, but if you Google him you can still find a few examples of his work. I feel a bit weird posting about someone that has passed away, but he was a really good tattooer, and I think that he deserves the recognition.
