I am in the process of cleaning/clearing my house out and was cleaning off some of my alters when I rediscovered all sorts of old gems. One particular piece I thought some here would enjoy is an old unused Temple Tattoo Gift Certificate from I think when the shop first opened. I have included pictures below.... What tattoo shop and/or tattooer collectibles have you gathered?2 points -

Hey, I've been cruising this site for a while, but only just signed up this week. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and began tattooing in the late 90's, though it has been a long road to where I am now. I learned under a very skilled artist, but his work tended to lean more towards new school and black and grey. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn so much from him, but I have always been more interested in traditional tattooing. Which has changed quite a lot since the 90's (as I'm sure most of you are quite aware). I worked for years in a high volume street shop, which gave me a chance to really lay my groundwork (pumping out Cherry Creek and old Spaulding flash...) and then worked in a custom shop in Staten Island for the last few years. It was nice doing custom work, but at that shop it was mostly black and grey religious work. for the majority of my career this far, I haven't had a chance to do much traditional work except on friends here and there. I find coming from that background my instincts are to over-complicate my work, but I have recently begun to simplify and get back to the basic bold lines and heavy black that attracted me to tattooing in the first place. I recently came back to work in Brooklyn, at a traditional shop, and I'm happier than ever here. My co-worker and friend Jon has been a huge influence and help in steering my work the direction I want to bring it. I'm glad to be a part of Last Sparrow and look forward to sharing my work and seeing the progression. I do not expect the old timers and heavy hitters on here to critique my work, though any imput from anyone is appreciated (good or bad, I can take constructive criticism). Thanks for reading, cheers!1 point -

Dumb Hipster Tattoos
Beans reacted to ShawnPorter for a topic
Love away. I find them annoying. It's what people in my age group do; hate people younger than us and thinking their trends are stupid. And sure- I had said before that at some point people in this thread would get butthurt because something would hit too close to home. I ride a track bike. I LOVE my track bike. It's really light, was cheap and gets me where I'm going. I wear the same outfit literally every day. (black logo-less tshirt, jeans, new balance sneakers; when I dress in the morning I don't have to think about it; I just grab a clean shirt and pair of jeans and cut out the entire decision making process.) I have a beard. Some, if not most, of my tattoos make no sense. So sure, someone could call me a hipster. that's fine. As long as I'm washing my hair every day and not dressing like a total ironic douche, I don't mind. I still hate hipsters.1 point -

Sorry to hear, Jake. That sucks. That said, if you want tattooing to be made illegal and still plan to tattoo... (thus breaking the law)... why not just break the law and go break some hands? :D1 point -

Heres a couple of mine. These were done 1970/71 when I was 15/16. The skull, my first ever tattoo is over 40 years old. The reds have gone from both of them but they are in pretty good nick considering. The artist was a guy called Steve who had a shop in the city of Bath, England. I think it was in Broad Street. Don't know what became of him. No appointments or bringing in artwork in those days. All walk ins. You just sat and waited your turn. The clients were bikers, skinheads and low lifes like me. I remember him tattooing and smoking rollups.1 point

I took these photos a while back. The guy got them done at the Pike, he couldn't remember who did them, but it was at Bert Grimms. The frog is an old gang tattoo, from La Rana, I've actually done a few of them here, but haven't taken any pictures...1 point -
Country Music Awards?
Stitch626 reacted to Tight-Lines for a topic
I was so drunk that I did not recall making this post... I truly hate this "New" country. Its music for pre-teens and prozac filled housewives who take advice from some 20 year old bimbo about relationships. Country should be three things: 1.) Sad 2.) Full of Whiskey 3.) Non-Apologetic Those Poor Bastard's got it right man...1 point
