About my tattoo experiences with Nick Colella (got two pieces of Dietzel flash) and Ron Henry Wells (snake and rose) this weekend, I would have to say that it was much like OaktownFunk's. Being a part of the convention and seeing all those tattooers and good people visiting the booths while getting tattooed was awesome. I'd say it was a great first time at the SFO convention, but I wish I would have stayed longer. Also, It was very rewarding, finally getting a Wells tattoo; I've wanted one since I first saw his work a few years ago. Thanks for the amazing tattoos, fellas.3 points -

The thing about Mark Wahlberg getting lasered because he was 'concerned about the message he was giving his kids' is old news. I'd never really seen his tattoos before, but clearly that message he was avoiding giving his kids was "Dad makes horrible tattoo choices":2 points -

i met scott harrison at an art opening he had in berlin a while ago. we were talking about neck tattoos, and he said, "neck tattoos are for posers, don't do it", though he has his own neck tattooed. i think a lot of people are in a rush to look tough and cool and get those spots done to prove it. in general, i think people with the neck, face, and hands tattooed are retarded.1 point -
Ugh those dudes have some real shitty tattoos. They also said they chose the name "just because it sound cool and we're cool" I want to fucking punch them. I don't understand when it switched from liking music because it is good to liking a band because they look cool/are ironic. I don't care how fucking ironic it is to listen to a shitty band, they still suck dicks. I should note I've never listened to this band other than that video, and I didn't like what I heard. Their attitude towards making art is bullshit. "We don't try to evolve and do something different we just make the same thing we made before" Take your hipster accent (obviously not every european is a hipster but i can't help but think their accents helped them get popular here), your shitty ironic t-shirts and get fucked.1 point

I think the extras with Ed Hardy and Lyle Tuttle talking about Bert Grimm and other old tattooers and the interview with Doug Hardy on the extras was the best part of the whole DVD. Oh and the part when Ed was talking about his dad and his photography. The movie was okay, but that stuff was amazing to hear.1 point -

Within the last year I've had work done that is only covered by long sleeves. For years I have run a large business with a diverse base of employees. I've always told people that they should be careful when placing a tattoo on their body. I would point to the bottom of the sleeve of a polo shirt and say "from here UP is the safe zone". I also told them that I don't care about the location as long as they covered up in front of customers and the executives of our company. I also warned them that I was the exception and not the rule and that people judge you on appearance. It's a reality people who don't agree judge harshly. I had enough with that grind, left that company, and went to a smaller firm. I now have a full sleeve and the back of the other forearm is complete. I wear long sleeves every day and I work in Phoenix and on 120 degree days I'm wearing long sleeves. I'm a professional at work at home and around town I'm myself. Many times I've ran into people (customers, business partners) outside of the business environment, when they see my tattoos they are amazed that I have them. Some have tattoos of their own that they hide. A younger guy, in my office, came to me and said he wanted a sleeve. He's about 20 years old. I told him worry about your career FIRST. Secure your future then worry about a sleeve or any tattoos. I do think that established people are judged less harshly than younger individuals. At my age I can always blame it on my mid-life crisis!!!!1 point

Me personally will not be getting my neck hands or face tattooed anytime soon. I work part time as a counter guy at a tattoo shop and my boss has had laser surgery to remove the tattoos on his hands because he hated them so much so I don't think he would tattoo my hands or neck if I asked. On the other hand it would affect my other job. I would not neccesarily lose my other job but I think it would hinder any promotions i might receive in the future. The other reason is I like to fly under the radar. None of the guys who tattoo at the shop have their neck or hands done (anymore) and its nice to put on a pair of jeans and a pendleton and no one notice you at all. Meanwhile you point out people's horrible neck tattoos and bare arms. Don't get me wrong I love getting tattooed and am deteremined to be covered but until I am covered i will not entertain the idea of neck and hand tattoos.1 point -
Least painful spot for a tattoo
LadySparrow reacted to The Hyena for a topic
Everyone's different. And it's got nothing to do with toughness. Where your nerve endings are most sensitive is where you're going to feel it most. Other things to take into account are how you are feeling that day. If your body is putting up with anything else, that is energy it doesn't have to dedicate to putting up with the tattoo process. Things like being hungover, having slept bad the night before, no food in your system, being sick or fighting off a cold, other infections.... These are all things that can make it feel worse. Not to mention how the tattooer tattoos, and weather or not you even feel like getting tattooed that day. People talk about the ribs being crazy painful, but I have this group of tiny college soccer team girls that get rib shit. All big, script, pictures,... You name it. They have no problems at all. Soccer girls and snipers are the best for that shit. People who can accomplish a goal under duress make the best clients. They are able to not even see it as discomfort. BUT I also tattoo big burly dudes who get all stressed and titchy over outer arm tattoos. You can see them just in agony. It's all different. I was told that the inner bicep was hell. That's why everyone in the 90's who was getting tribal armbands would leave that are blank and have it not connect. I waited forever to do that spot. Come to find out it was the easiest shit for me to deal with. Possibly one of the two tattoos I could have fallen asleep getting. My legs on the other hand? FUck. In normal places on my leg where normal ass people get normal ass butterflies and shit... FUCK shit is ridiculous. Hurts my soul. Getting my ankes tattooed makes me feel like a girl broke up with me in 8th grade.1 point
