I'm sure this has already been mentioned in the thread but HOLY SHIT i CANNOT WAIT for the monacled bowler hatted curly-mustachioed Tea-Drinking manhead tattoo to go away. I hope every dude or girl that gets one of those feels 10 time stupider in 10 years than anyone sporting desert chrome does now! What would possibly compel someone to get that shit tattooed on them I will never know. "Check out my tattoo of an imaginary, uptight, fey, rich guy who may, or may not have been an extra in the film Wild Wild West." ugh. WORST.6 points

Un-planned tattoos
Avery Taylor and 3 others reacted to Lochlan for a topic
I have many unplanned tattoos due to sometimes just hanging out at a shop and/or swinging by to say hello with a few hours to kill and before I know it I'm getting tattooed. Way different from how I thought getting tattooed was supposed to be when I started. I thought you had to plan it out and it had to mean something but soon learned this was societies myth. At some point I just realized/learned the random tattoo is often times the most meaningful and fun. For instance, getting out of class early now on Saturday so going down to the SF tattoo convention to say hi to some friends and introduce myself to some LSTers that I haven't met...no appointments like I wanted to do but didn't think I was going to make it due to school so just an idea of people I'd like to get tattooed by and if they have the time I'm going to let them have at it...........try to collect a bunch of small tattoos....4 points -

There is nothing cooler in my mind than a place you know you can walk in and get a top notch tattoo that day. Same reason I love Chicago Tattoo Company. My wife wants to go to New York next year just for fun little does she know my ulterior tattoo motives. Also there are so many people in New York doing such amazing large scale stuff, I don't think I would run out shops to go see on my visit.3 points -

The problem is not CEO salaries. The problem is how much influence these large corporations have over our government. The reason so much deregulation (in banking) has taken place since 1980 is rich assholes paying the elected officials to look after their interests and not those of the entire country. A few people making enormous amounts of money does not matter. It only matters when they are paying government officials to rewrite the Constitution so they can make those enormous amounts of money. The George Carlin quote that Dari added at the beginning of this thread is dead on. Also some of you may have noticed that my location is Canada, but I am an American. I am married to a Canadian, and when we started weighing the pros and cons of raising a family in the US or Canada it did not take long to make a decision. I consider myself very lucky to have been given a choice. I am not saying that the Canadian government is perfect, but Canada was the right choice for my family. And even though I live in Canada I follow US politics and events much more closely than Canadian ones. The final thing I will say is I don't think we should expect perfection from any government, but we should expect a hell of a lot more than what the US government is doing right now.3 points -

Hey Folks! Just a quick post to let y’all know I will be working at Electric Tattoo in Bradley Beach NJ October 21st, 22nd, and the 27th-29th. I am incredibly flattered I was asked, and I’m very excited to go out there and work in a legendary East Coast shop run by some folks I’ve looked up to for a VERY long time! If you are in the area and would like to get tattooed please stop by, or email me at [email protected]. Thanks! -Andy1 point

So does this mean everyone here who said signing tattoos is the worst ever and people who do so deserve 'fists flying' feel that way about Paul Rogers or Erik Inksmith? I bet you don't. How's that for a double standard. I've seen lots of old tattoos with signatures. Not just from Paul and Erik theirs I've just had more exposure to. Also to the guy with the Jap backpiece. The artist signing his name wasn't what 'dragged you into the Japanese political bullshit'. Going to Japan and willingly getting a backpiece dragged you into it. Also I doubt it's ever had a negative effect in your life. Get over it.1 point -

I had Wes Grimm tattoo some of Bert Grimm's original flash on me. I asked Wes to sign it, he thought it was a strange request but he did it for me. I wanted him to do it because his family is an important part of tattoo history, anyone who knows their history knows about Bert Grimm.1 point -

Here's my unplanned tattoos. It was one of those days when I felt I just had to get a tattoo, I'm assuming most people here know what I mean. I called up my artist and asked if he was available, he said come on in. When I got there he asked what I wanted, I said I want the tops of my feet done. I had no idea what I wanted so I asked if there was anything he had been wanting to do. He said as a matter of fact I do, have a seat and let me draw it up. Here's the end result. (Of course it took two sittings but I still consider them both unplanned)1 point -

the best way to hurt these institutions is to not invest in the stock market and pull your money out of the large banks and move it to local credit unions. support local economy whenever you can and dont use these bloated crooks for any of your investment/credit/financial needs. also write your representatives and tell them to vote on this bill as well as sign this petition. Audit the Fed also a couple of the banks bailed out for reckless mortgage practices were already federally funded lenders. and be aware that this isn't just a result of bush or obama or any particular party. everyone wants to talk about how great the economy was when clinton was in office but the market crashed in 2000 right after he left office due to the same types of corruption by banks, accounting firms, and stock brokerages. people were bailed out then as well just not done so in such a broad public manner. its a cycle that will continue to repeat itself until we control where our money goes.1 point -

I have a buddy at the shop I work at that really epitomizes this thread. A slow day always meant closing up shop early and a trip to the corner sports bar for some beers. More than once a tattoo idea has been inspired by a night of drinking PBR tall boys and sometimes can't even wait till morning and caused us to open the shop back up for some after hours tattooing. He has been in New Zealand the last 2 years but talked to him this weekend and should be back at the shop permanently by Thanksgiving. Also he has sent about 20 new sheets of flash for the shop that he painted during his winter and I can't wait to get some tattoos.1 point -

The shoeless hipsters are just modern-day hippies to me. Noah and the Whale/Mumford & Sons style braces and sock allergy coolness that stinks of Trustafarian privelege. I thought I liked Joy Division. Turns out I just pretended to so I could look cool. Phew, that will save me having to buy that really expensive box-set.1 point -
