Walk-In Horror Stories

Man so this is is more a story about a story, but a few years ago I worked with my buddy Dave, who has been in the game FOREVER. Anyway LST's own Pat (gougetheeyes) and I were at the shop having a conversation along the lines of this thread, laughing about people passing out/shitting themselves etc. when from the back of the shop where Dave was drawing I hear him chime in; "had somebody die once" uh... EXCUSE ME!? "Yeah a girl, she died." He's shuffled over and started in like it was a cross between a campfire ghost story and the monologue from Jaws. "It was back in the 90's, Hawaii, 94 maybe? Anyway, crazy production shop sailors would come in, you'd work 12-15 hour shifts, go upstairs, sleep a few hours come back down, do it again. Make all your money for the next 6 months in 3 weeks. Anyways, it was one of those stretches I'd been going for hours, next tattoo was a girl, wanted a flower. She went into the bathroom, came out, and as she was walking to my chair she hit the floor. Dropped fucking dead. Paramedics came but she was blue, shot up in the bathroom before the tattoo, killed her. Fucked me up for a good bit. Good thing she didn't make it into my chair before she died, I probably woulda quit tattooing." Pat and I were in awe, and just like that Dave went back to his drawing. I don't think anyone said another word for about an hour.9 points -

i had an older black couple come in wanting to get tattooed a few months ago that was quite memorable. the husband was a mute so his wife did all the talking and she informed me that he needed to get seven names on his forearm. not particularly caring to ask why so many names i went about preparing the design and attempting to communicate with him to find out exactly what he wanted, but basically the wife told him what he was getting and i started tattooing. as im on name number two i ask the lady, "are these the names of your children?" to which she replied, "no, they're all the names of my different personalities. i have multiple personalities." struggling not to bust out laughing i asked, "really? that's so interesting! when we're you diagnosed?" she said she had never been to a doctor or therapist but she just knew. the old man just sat there grinning and making weird noises as he was a mute. she stated that if he loved her he had to love all of her personalities, even the bad ones. "you don't want to meet mary lou!" was one of the more interesting things she said about her inner conflict of persons. before she left she said they would be back again because they couldn't afford to get all of them that day.4 points -

I love fishing. I started off fly fishing and I still love it, but after some douche broke into my truck and stole all my flies...I have trouble getting into it... So I did bass fishing for a few years and totally DUG IT! Colorado doesnt have the biggest bass, but its really fun to catch them. Then a good friend of mine convinced me to try ice fishing a few years ago. I am totally addicted to it. I love catching big trout through the ice now.3 points

Mike Wilson is very talented but you don't have to travel that far to get a good tattoo.Federico does excellent work, but your going to pay a lot more getting tattooed at love & hate.My friend was down in Miami a few years ago,and wen't into love & hate inquiring about getting a christ head, and they gave him a price that was real high.He ended up going to south beach tattoo, and getting it from Federico for less than half the price he was told at Love & Hate.I believe the next year,he moved to love & hate.Like Dave Porter said there's plenty of shops in South Florida with some capable tattooers. Vince@ Colorfast Studios Expert Tattoo and Body Piercing - Home Page also is real good tattooer. Lea@ A Stroke Of Genius Tattoos And if you wan't it in a realistic style, check out Big Brain 2 Presents No Hard Feelings Chris & Pepper do nice b & g work.3 points

As some of you know I visited San Francisco recently to get tattooed by Scott Sylvia, Tim Lehi and Grime. If you haven't seen it already you can check out my travelblog here: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/blogs/iwar/232-oslo-san-francisco-travel-blog.html My Scott Sylvia piece is as good as healed now, so I thought I'd start by sharing that one. The rest will be posted here as soon as they are healed and I get decent pictures. All I have to take photos with is my iPhone, so please excuse the mediocre quality.2 points -
Dumb Hipster Tattoos
Beans and one other reacted to Dan Martin for a topic
Sometimes I really can't tell the difference anymore. Tattooing is SO over saturated that it feels like i work at hot topic most of the times. I mean when everybody has a fucking tattoo what's the difference anyway? I've seen tons of kids with tough traditional tattoos wearing hipster v necks and thick rimmed glasses. But what about tattooers? Dickies and flannel? I mean fuck! It's all been done and over done. None of us are original, we might have got there sooner but does it matter anymore? How about we all dress like it's the 30's? Oh wait that's done... How about ties and button downs... Fuck another cliche. Today tattooing not just about the tattoo it's about the total image of the client wearing it... And I think that's bullshit. When "alternative" is the mainstream, what's alternative? I don't have a clue... Side note: some of the above tattoos are really stupid!!!2 points -

took my son (6yrs) and daughter (8yrs) fishing on a pond this weekend at my in laws. they both caught sunnies using an old school bobber and live worms. it fucking ruled. my daughter even learned to cast completely on her own and was getting it out about 30 feet. what a good time. fishing is my yoga.2 points -

Choosing a tattooer?
Johnny and one other reacted to dave porter for a topic
Troy lane is in Miami, so is Ken Cameron, colorfast is a good shop in lauderdale, altered state in lake worth, aces high and my shop Hellcat tattoo in west palm. Endless summer in cocoa bch, cast iron in Orlando, against the grain in Melbourne, inksmith, livewire, black hive in jax. There are a ton of good tattooers in Florida, but many, many more bad.2 points -
What ever happened to getting tattoos for yourself and not so every person on the street freaks out. Being different is one thing, purposely doing all this shit to offend people? Waste of time. I always thought being punk rock was about being yourself, and not letting others put you down for that. I didn't know that it's now all about being a huge douche bag who's life revolves around offending everyone you can.2 points

Sergiozoolander reacted to Stewart Robson for a topic
Always tigers, roses, fudo myoo, Raijin & Fujin, japanese dragons, pre-1980s japanese bodysuits, daggers, skulls, pretty girls, well-drawn lettering, good black & grey portraits etc. But right now its old Japanese bodysuits with no animals or birds, just peonies, blossom or chrysanthemums and a large deity backpiece. - Blows my fucking mind.1 point -

I just joined this site, I love lady heads and after browsing the member pictures I'd like to add Stefan Johnson's name to this conversation. I really love his style of girls and not even sure how it would be categorized (help?). I plan on getting a gypsy head in the near future but I prefer the more neo-trad, softer designs like this rather than the pure traditional styles which most artists seem to do. Here's a few examples of Stefan's style which I like and if anyone can suggest a traveling artist or one in the northeastern US who does similar work I'd greatly appreciate it. If I was closer to Stefan's shop in CA I'd be booking an appt. tomorrow. Thanks.1 point -
