So we've got a lady head thread, how about an entire lady body thread! Here's one that I've always liked! It's by Mike Wilson. And if you knew the guy in the photo, please know I mean no disrespect by posting this, he was a friend of mine to, and he had and did some awesome tattoos. I really like the simplicity of the design. The shading is so minimal yet so effective.7 points

This is a tattoo by Ross Ferrie, taken from the logo of the first shop he owned "The Pinup Parlour" in San Jose circa 1994. Chris Conn worked at the shop for awhile and created this logo for the shop. Ross has the original hanging up by his station and every once in awhile people insist on getting it. There have been different variations over the years but this is the original.2 points -

It's not just border towns, it is everywhere that a "good drawer" with a 50 dollar kit get rent shop space. Just had ANOTHER one open a block and half up main st. from me, tattoos and tattoo supplies and piercing and these people are still working at WalMart, no kiddin, their website shows they've been tattooing for 10 years, etc., on THE DAY they received their business permit I got a little turd who popped in and asked "What do ya think of the new tattoo shop that just opened downtown?", WOW! probably an hour after they got the permit the trash talk begins, ha! Jake has the answer, just keep the old nose to the grindstone and keep puttin smiles on peoples faces and your work will shine out, I have lost count of all the shops that have come and gone in the last 32 years tattooing but like it has been said here before, "Anyone can sell snake oil on a Sunday" no matter how small a town can be. This is history repeating itself and the only worry I have is what they will do that will be labeled to us, the one shop around the corner that came and went was so well known for it being a "front" that people would come in and naturally figure that we sold drugs too. The worst "feeling" that I have is that I came out of the old rep when I started and beat down the stereotypes and over came all of that and now I have tattooed long enough to see the match lit that will burn us. It's so closely related to the "Harley Rider"/"Biker" parallel, Harley wanted nothing to do with the "Biker" image until they figured out how to shrink wrap it and market it into billions of profit and now the guy lookin like an Alaman Bos. band member that paid their dues in the biker subculture gets laughed at by the checkbook biker. But make no mistake that tattooing will always carry on and survive.2 points

So heres 3 tattoos by Ralph Johnstone done at what i figured was the 400 S State Street shop that he and Tatts worked until they changed the law to 21 in 1963 and everyone closed shop.. This guy said he was pretty young when he got tattooed by Johnstone but said he was always very nice to him despite the super scary guys that hung out there. He said Johnstone introduced him to some mob guys that used to hang out in the shop when he was there claiming that one of them was Capones brother.2 points -
Here's mine. It's from a Gil Elvgren painting and tattooed by Shane O'Neill in two LONG sessions. It wasn't fully healed when these pics were taken, and no the front tire isn't flat it just looks off in the picture.1 point

Richard: "Chris was given that name out in Japan but it has a double meaning... It's one who flies close to the sun... or something, like you can fly near the stars but never truly be... I dunno, I have heard that from a few people, but I think Chris is one of the hardest working, internally driven artists to hail from Texas. . . Or even this hemisphere... so **** those *******." I would like to Quote Bob Roberts... "I'd rather be a first rate Bob Roberts, then a second rate Nakano." Either way I give it up to anyone whom displaces themselves in order to undertake the traditions, and learn the protocol for anything they love or are interested in. It's good to see, and it's inspiring.1 point -
Who are you?
cltattooing reacted to slayer9019 for a topic
My name is JP. I am a software consultant that travels globally. I am the only creatively challenged person in my family (family of artists) which to this day irritates me quite a bit. I enjoy collecting books, weapons and weird occult stuff. Metal (Cannibal Corpse, Bloodbath, Dark Throne, etc) is where my music tastes are greatest followed by classic piano. I truly enjoy cigars and craft beer but despise nosy people and politics (this mostly includes "office" politics). I hope to retire at 40 and build one-off race cars for the rest of my life.1 point -
Guys, why care to discuss anything other than the quality of his work? This is a tattoo forum isn't it? The whole hipster thing is not that big here in Norway, so maybe that's why I'm not getting as annoyed by it as some of you. We got more than enough bad vibes from bubblefuck's endless tirade a while back, so why get fired up and argue over something as trivial as the way Cris chooses to dress or cut his hair? I'm not trying to fuel the fire with this post, just merely trying to put it out... Can't we all just get along and ride beautiful unicorns across the double rainbow?1 point
