how the fuck is anyone who isn't a tattooer on a list of 101 most influential people to tattooing. what a load of horseshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And seriously number 80 is "shop girls a.k.a. shop bitches" REALLY? my fucking head is about to explode. I can't read anymore of this mockery of a list. this should be entitled "Bob's 101 friends and celebrities he's thinks are cool for some reason list" I hope i never meet his dude in real life cause he sounds like a pretty huge idiot who doesn't have tattooings best interest in mind. A fucking tattoo list where more people on the list don't even do tattoos.2 points

Ever since I turned 21 and had a shot of Tully I've been hooked, and when I'm really itchin for a fight/ shenanigans I go for Makers Mark. I guess it all depends on my mood what I drink, I like Jameson but rarely drink it. Though my all time favorite has to have been the 12 yr old Tully my friend brought back from Ireland this last summer. Good lord... theres a picture some where of it. "You ok?" ...... "Yep, just on fire..." "I'll take another please!" "but you just said..." "Yeah Give me another!"2 points

Got hammered on it for a company meeting a few years ago. Enroute to the meeting I went to a Kentucky Fried Chicken where I managed to order 25 dollars worth of chicken, tried to break into the womans restroom with someone in it, went into the mens restroom where I vomited all over the floor. I also tried to start a circle pit with my co-workers in the parking lot of the hospital that was hosting it. I stopped drinking before meetings.2 points -

This reminds me of the thread a while back where the client was upset that the shop helper didn't offer to go get him a cup of coffee. I had thought about detailing the hundreds of things the shop helper had to juggle all at once, but just decided to leave it alone.1 point

As someone who's worked as the shop help/customer service rep. I find it incredibly offensive. I would never work in a shop where I was looked at as the shop bitch rather than the chick who works her ass off doing all kinds of important things like making sure the shop and equipment is clean and safe, dealing with every kind of customer imaginable, making sure you've got a hot lunch to eat, and all the other hundreds of little things that people who works in shops do to make it an easier and more enjoyable place for the tattooers and their clients alike. Some tattooers unfortunately have zero respect for the people who help make their jobs go a lot smoother. I mean, if you want to spend your evening scrubbing tubes and washing the floor/toilets after the shop closes, you're welcome to it. I guarantee within one month of doing so you'll be begging for your "shop bitch" to come back. There are a few shops that don't have employees outside of the tattooers but they are few and far between and are usually just people who are to cheap to pay for the help, or their shop is too slow to warrant the help.1 point

The owner of shop tattooed a hairdresser in exchange for her cutting all of our hair at the shop. Will never do it again, I spent the next week cleaning up hair. Luckily it was done away from the tattoo area, but always think of this when one of those haircut, massage tattoo parlour opens up. I would like to think people would not get tattooed in these places, but I would also like to think people wouldn't get tattooed in kitchens either.1 point -

Rogue Dead Guy is a good beer. But you know what is better Double Dead Guy or Dead Guy aged in Whiskey Barrels. I take a trip to the Rogue Brewery at least once a year and they have three brew pubs in Portland. At their brewery (about two hours away)on the ocean they have two bedroom apartments with full kitchen and washer dryer you can rent out for the night for like $100 and I try to go at least once a year for two days.1 point -

During my apprenticeship a gentleman in his 60's came in and requested a chrysanthemum tattoo on his lower abdomen. Right above his cash and prizes. I was not skilled enough at that point in time to tackle something so complicated, so it was up to my boss to do the job. The client had an obvious personality disorder, but was lucid and capable enough to get tattooed. He stated that he was a woman and wanted to get the tattoo to "show everyone at church that I am female and to respect me as such". He also stated " Don't worry about seeing my penis, I cut it off with a bread knife when i was 15." My former boss agrees to do the tattoo, prepares for it and behind the partition they both go. After about 30 mins. the autoclave dings and as the apprentice it is my job to deal with all things autoclave, which means I gotta vent it. The autoclave is located on a counter behind the partition. I step behind the autoclave and glove up and take a quick glance over my shoulder, and there it is.....just a pair of balls....No Penis, Just Balls.... It was a wierd kinda shock that hit me, I've seen people missing limbs, digits etc. I mean we all have....But seeing Just Balls, it hit me like ice water, immediate shivers. I seriously thought this old guy was f*cking around and being a typical street weirdo....nope...dead serious. Needless to say, as soon as my day was up at the shop I made a beeline into the bar across the street and stumbled out a few hours later. *shivers* Also on a side note, why the f*ck did my former boss make this guy drop his pants to his knees to do a lower abdomen tattoo?1 point -

Welllll of course almost everyone on here will have the huge shelf of tattoo/art reference, and I am one of those. A lot of them belong to my dude but get just as much use from myself as they do from him. I also have a decent collection of new and vintage embroidery and sewing related book of all kinds. As far as novels go I am the type who almost never reads a book more than once, so I often borrow books or give them away when I'm done. My permanent collection is small but includes Bukowski (the novels, not that into poetry) some Chuck Palahniuk and a few Tom Robbins novels. The best novel I read this year is Street of 1000 Blossoms by Gail Tsukiyama. It's an historical novel about Japan spanning from about 1900-1970's. It has amazing information about sumo, noh, and world war two. It's actually the only book that has ever made me cry. The focus of the book is a family consisting of two young boys and their grandparents who take care of them. It follows them from early childhood through to middle age. I learned a lot about Japanese culture and customs from this book while still reading an amazing and compelling story. I recommend it to anyone with an interest in Japan. I also read a neat book called The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night by Mark Haddon. It's written from the perspective of an autistic teenage boy and really opened my eyes to that world. It's a much shorter novel that can be read in a couple days, great for a weekend away.1 point

Areas of your body you WON'T tattoo
Nate Pea reacted to Stewart Robson for a topic
I probably won't tattoo my face, save for small parts extending from my hairline. I doubt I'll get my ballsack, perineum or arse hole tattooed. Weiner tattoos are too amusing to say never, but I probably won't. I don't have any desire to get the tips of my fingers tattooed either, or between my toes. Fuck that. Stuff I won't tattoo on you: Genitals or anywhere in your mouth (except people I know, if they are not creepy) That's pretty much it, although I refuse to tattoo plenty of stuff based on personal circumstance. I'm probably not gonna do your first tattoo on your palm or eyelid. Stuff I don't really like tattooing: Lips, eyelids, fingers (+thumbs), ears, elbow, throat, under the chin. I do most of them regularly but they are the type of thing you don't always want to do at the end of a long, busy day.1 point -
hahaha in Florida we call it a miami body suit.. dudes with no tattoos except hands and neck... way to make yourself unemployable and look like a total chode! i plan on waiting until my art career is a little more secure and i know i won't have to work retail on the side anymore to do the tops of my hands and fingers... plus i still have a ton of room on my legs including both knees and a lot of thigh space1 point

Tattoo Machine Secrets
mattyrunks reacted to dari for a topic
Wow. This whole thread brings to mind the Cointel operatives from the 60's and 70's the the FBI planted in groups they deemed leftist, liberal or otherwise subversive, like the NAACP and the Black Panthers. Their mission was to interupt and misdirect, and they often took part in framing people for crimes that they'd never actually get convicted for, just distracting from their actual work and wasting a lot of time and resources. Bubbleberry, I think maybe you misread the community here, otherwise you probably wouldn't have posted that question. No one here could give you a review like you requested, " a simple " you know that dvd is really geared towards making machines not servicing them " would cost very little and would, at least, be dignified." because no one on this forum has learned their trade from a DVD, nor do they use "tattoo guns" (your words) made by people who learned from a DVD. Either way, we're looking forward to your review.1 point -

The problem with the list is that the list isn't for tattoo community. Take Shaquille for example, ask majority of the us household and they'll tell u that he's a big black basketball player with lots of tattoos. Ask this same people who grime is and they'll say it's dirt. I don't know this Bob dude but since most of u guys out there think he's a piece of shit I guess he is. But with a proper top 20 maybe he can redeem himself. But there is a saying "u can't polish turd"1 point

talking about Henry Rollins in the Random Picture Thread and I thought I'd contribute this. Henry Rollins is surprisingly funny talking shit about Creed, electronic music, and more. Best quote - "When I was 18 I wanted to fuck on the floor and break shit. When I was 25 I wanted to fuck on the floor and break shit. When I was 35 I wanted to fuck on the floor and break shit. Now I'm 40 and I want to fuck on the floor and break shit!"1 point
