Advice on covering up or reworking half sleeve

Ruaidhri, just came across this on the King's Ave blog, great example of what some laser treatments can do to facilitate a cover-up (if that's a route you're considering): Kings Ave Tattoo N.Y.C-Grez | kingsavetattoo3 points -

Again , any criticism is often percieved as envy or jealousy. That being said this list and lists like these are bullshit- in my opinion. There will always be those that use these lists to gauge the ability or competence of one person against another. "Oh, your not on the list- well you must not be as good as whoever is!" And no offense to so many on that list but what some of them do and who some of them are have had absolutely no influence on my life, tattooing or otherwise.2 points -

Exercise/Fitness Thread

It seems like all we talk about is delicious food, beer, food, and other awesome things. Why not talk about new shit we are doing to curb all this awesome food we eat. Also a great place for tips for working out/running/any sport you do. Personally, I know nothing about Yoga, and would like to get into that. Ive been looking at that Bikram Yoga around the bay, but have no idea if I should get into it. Share your stuff!1 point -
Hello fellow LST'rs We have been working hard to upgrade the current 'Tattoo Gallery' section and it's almost ready to be installed, so we wanted to let you know what to expect so you aren't too freaked out by it! Here are some of the things you can look forward to: 1. Batch uploading - we will have the option to upload multiple pictures at a time without having to select them individually. 2. Tattoo Categories - Every picture can be assigned to a category so that we will be able to view all of the Dragon tattoo pictures (for example) in one area! 3. Slideshows - we will be able to watch a slideshow of all pictures in a given category, or member album without having to click each one - just sit back and enjoy. 4. Image rating - we will be able to rate all pictures and sort by the highest rated. 5. Sorting - we will be able to sort by most views, most comments, highest rated, newest, oldest, etc. 6. Favorites - we will be able to save and collect our favorite images on LST to a new 'My Favorites' area to check out any time without having to search for them. 7. Email Notifications - we will be able to receive email notifications anytime someone comments on one of our pictures if we want to. ...and a bunch of other cool stuff. One thing that is different from the current system is that there will no longer be the option to create multiple member 'albums' - all of your current pictures will be moved into a new 'gallery' tab on your user profile page (so don't freak out ). After the new gallery is live, we will ask you to go through and assign each of your pictures to the category that you feel best fits them when you have a chance. All existing pictures will be assigned to a generic 'Tattoo Pictures' category by default when the new system is installed. We are aiming to install the new gallery system some time between now and cinco de mayo (just for fun). There will be a couple hours of downtime while we perform the upgrade. Let us know if you have any questions. Enjoy!1 point

Oliver Peck VS Kat Von D
polliwog reacted to Avery Taylor for a topic
I know that people will hate me for saying this, but I will anyway. I feel sorry for Kat Von D. To me she is exactly what reality tv producers look for. An extremely insecure (bordering on mentally ill) person that outwardly appears to be confident and uncaring of what others think. Gordon Ramsay, the cast of any of the Real World MTV, Jersey Shore, the Kardashians, etc... These people are perfect because they can be easily lead by anyone that compliments them and validates their behavior. The producers take the most extreme parts of their personality and manipulate them into making that their whole personality. They then ride the person into the ground. It reminds me of the scene in True Grit where they ride the horse until it dies. My guess is that tattooing will survive this period in its long history, but Kat Von D will not. She will be used up by the producers and the advertisers, and left for dead like that horse in True Grit. Then she will turn back to tattooing and find out that it has abandoned her as well. I'm not saying that she does not deserve this. I'm not really sure what she deserves on either side of the coin, but I will say this. It is all very sad to me. I was getting tattooed at True Tattoo before anyone there was on TV, and it was a fun place to be. My memories of Kat are of a young girl that really looked up to Tim and Chris, and was becoming a pretty good tattooer herself. I don't have a lot or respect for the decisions she has made since that time, but I also do not think that she is completely to blame.1 point -

Customer Respect. Does it exist?
capnpopetastic reacted to Lochlan for a topic
I've been watching this thread since it popped up and have enjoyed seeing the respectful post from multiple perspectives of LSTers, thanks. I think some valuable feedback and ideas have been put out there. This sounds like a frustrating experience though to go in to any business from an entitled perspective as a customer we are bound to hit friction, sometimes aversion in our interactions, and overall unhappy outcomes. I do think some good feedback has been given and don't think verbal retaliations need to exist on this site. If that is what any LSTers are looking for I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere as this is one of the reasons we started LST as the other tattoo forums have too much of this negativity. We designed this forum in hopes of positive interactions from tattoo conversations to tattoo pictures to what-have-yous for both tattooers and tattoo customers. This thread is heading in a manner that I don't think it needs to go and honestly hope it doesn't as we don't need that here. This topic is a good one so if it is going to continue lets continue to go for overall ways to support/facilitate better interactions with the tattooers and customers who respect tattooing humbly.1 point -
First shop experience
NickPorter reacted to Scott Sylvia for a topic
christ i owned it.i also lived up stairs was a hell of a comute. was one of the craziest and best times of my life, one that could never be duplicated. that shop had a bathroom where the ceiling was 6 foot so if you were tall you had to bend over to piss, the whole shop was like 6 foot 7 maybe..what a shit hole. rent was 400$ cant beat that with a big stick. my first tattoo shop was when aaron cain worked at miller cottons in monterey when we were still in highschool, i went to get my first tattoo touched up from him.the place was pure shit. he had stollen the pipe and drape from some convention hall and used that to seperate the waiting room from the work area. he worked off of desks from a motel that he got for free. class act.1 point
