  3. Yesterday, March 21, 2011, marked Last Sparrow Tattoo Forums six months of being live. First and foremost thanks to all those who have been a part of this! We embarked on this new project not knowing what to expect but said screw it and gave it a shot as there wasn't a tattoo site out there that captured all of what we wanted to see....until you all joined us. This tattoo forum and ezine could not be the positive community it is without every respectful and insightful contribution from blogs to pictures to forum threads/post to sign-ups to links and shoutouts on your various sites (Facebook, Twitter, Stumble, MySpace, personal blogs & websites, etc). We are so grateful and hope you all will continue to spread the word and participate so we can do our part to try and help the trade of tattooing grow in a more respectful and positive manner where tattooers and tattoo customers can learn and support those who consistently turn out good tattoos with a positive attitude and love for the trade. We have had some great friends take time out of their busy schedules to do the Tattooer Video Interview series with Scott and want to thank them again. Juan Puente for being the first one to jump in and sit down with Scott. Both Cody Miller for helping us and doing the interview with Josh Arment while he was out of town. Nick Colella for not only doing the interview but also regularly contributing some great tattoo history and pictures to the forums among other contributions. Freddy Corbin for sitting down to get interviewed and juggling hanging out with his son. Bryan Burk for being so patient as he was one of the first interviewed (six months ago) but we had some technical difficulties so didn't get this one edited and posted until recently. There will be more of these coming as Scott was just out of town to specifically do some interviews. I would like to thank my friends who have sat down and done The Three Questions for LST and yes there will be more. We have another LST Admin meeting coming up where we are going to discuss two BIG new features that we have been hashing out based on some LSTer feedback that we hope will help further propel better tattoos and tattooer/shop recognition for tattooers, shops, and customers. With this in mind we do listen and want to try to make the site more useful for all returning and new users which leads to the other reason for this thread besides the huge THANKS!! If you all can take the time to answer these questions we would be even more grateful: -What have been your favorite parts? -What do you want to see more of? Thanks again for joining us on this journey that we continue to try to map out but not knowing where it will take all of us but riding the ride anyways cause we love good tattoos!

  6. Eagles to me are like Rock of Ages, classic/timeless tattoos! The mental association with the word "tattoo" within the top five images that will pop into my head are eagles. Something about them always catches my eye in tattooers portfolios and flash at tattoo shops. I'm often drawn to the older flash at shops and will look for long periods of time at each eagle. I love seeing old tattoo pictures as well with people who have large eagle chestpieces (I couldn't find any online so pls share if you have some). I have seen some amazing ones pop up on this tattoo forum as well and hope the users will post theirs here that they have collected, tattooed, and drawn. I have quickly gathered some eagle pictures from tattooers who I think do great eagles: Lindsey Carmichael, Nick Colella, Thomas Hooper, Chad Koeplinger, Stefan Johnsson, and Tim Lehi. Share your favorite eagle tattoos and tattooers who do the eagles you like.....have at it!

  8. Another great collection by the look of things Avery ! Perfect sizing on that Eagle ,i've attached another along the same lines by Bert Krak ,think the solitary Eagle is super strong . So many good Eagles but my favourite piece of Eagle art is Scott Sylvias picture .This is just crying out for a back to adopt it . I love Chad Koeplingers birds too Lochlan especially his talons which often are supersized .

  9. Yes....Photos please Mario! I forgot I got tattooed by Jason Reeder again too....a carrot dildo....something he had wanted to tattoo on me for some time ....ha ha ha! Got that a few days before Brady finished my neck! Ummmmmm............the tattoos were literally on all parts of my body....on my back, both legs, and hip! Healing....I took a shower once a day like I always do....and aquaphor....and i had to wrap the tattoos for a few days so they didn't wind up sticking to my pants or shirt! Mostly didn't have anything on when i could! I looked like I was the walking wounded most of the time with cellophane & meat packs taped all over me....ha ha ha I try not to get anything larger than the size of a baseball anymore...and i am running out of room in certain areas BUT you would be surprised how much room i still have left! Jerry Swallow's & Timmy Tatts tattoos were not that big...i will try to post pics but i didn't want to clog up the thread with so many photos! 65 artists to date! Next up will be Sara Purr(I believe at the Baltimore Convention), Tanane Whitfield, & Dana Helmuth! I talked to Dave Cise klast night about a drop shadow on the text on my neck as well! I may take a break after these 3-4 artists tattoo me....but somehow i doubt that will happen as you need to take the opportunities as they present themselves! :)

  12. Nice job all around! I'm extremely grateful to be a part of the forum, and it still gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when everyone contributes -- and contributes well -- to threads, blogs, etc. without pretension or attitude. Everyone seems willing to discuss, educate and generally support one another. If there's a disagreement or eyebrow-raising comment, it never gets out of hand. And to answer Loch's question, I second Avery's "photos, photos, photos!" The interviews have been really good and I'm still a little floored at the talented tattooers on here willing to post and share. Lastly, I'd just like to say thanks again, as I'm usually pretty self-conscious that because I'm not a tattooer, I come across as a weird groupie or fanboy. LST doesn't make me feel like that and I'm grateful. HURRAY!

    Full Back Piece Thread

Today on twitter Morgwn Pennypacker ( @FTWSKILLS ) from Love Hate Tattoo Shop in Miami posted this cool thirty year old Ed Hardy backpiece a customer walked in with that made me miss and think of the awesomeness in this thread.

    Full Back Piece Thread

I guess I should post mine here, since I've enjoyed this thread so much: By Jill "Horiyuki" Bonny, State of Grace, San Jose, CA. You can also see my Scott Sylvia cobra on my right elbow (with my itsty-bitsy Ben Grillo spider under it), and my left arm, the upper part of which was done by Eddy Deutsche back at 222 and the lower 2/3rd of which was done by Horitomo, also at State of Grace.

    Your Latest Tattoo Story

Sorry for the heavy posting in this thread lately. I'll give it a rest after this. Finally finished. Only had an iPhone as a camera, so excuse the mediocre quality. (for some reason I'm unable to upload pictures to my gallery at the moment...)

  19. guy comes in a few years back, part of a construction crew. smelled like weed and beer first thing in the morning. the tattoos on his face let me know he was serious when he asked for a " hood spongebob". best ever.

  20. This definitely sucks for you and your husband. However, this is the reality of the tattoo business, today. What can we do? You guys just need to keep doing solid work and your reputation will hopefully carry you through. Good luck and keep your head up. Ultimately, it doesn't change what you and your husband have to do.

  22. Okay, top of the feet weren't bad in comparison to anything on the sides of the feet and around the ankle. And inner bicep was awful for me, but I thought it was just because I showed up for my appointment with all my endorphins already gone. I had done a 3 hour yoga workshop on arm balances and hand stands that day, god only knows what I was thinking. But I had pre-paid for that workshop, and when Tim Hendricks rolls through town, you just get in where you can. When it came time to even write down the word I wanted on the tattoo, my hands were already shaking. Poor Tim, I was even begging him to not do the color, but he wasn't having it. The whole back of my arm was covered in bruises from him having to hold it so tightly 'cause I was trying to get away.

  24. Wait, Scott, that says "kindness?" I always thought it said Mike Ness, which was weird, but I decided not to ask questions that I didn't want the answer to!
