Fall leaves vanished

I had this tattoo done in 2011. It began to disappear almost instantly. I’m wondering why? It meant a lot to me and now it’s ruined. I’m not a sun lover and my tatto healed very well when it was done. The outline was completed in brown ink about 3 weeks to a month prior to the colour being added. I want to get it fixed but I’m hesitant because first time around was a waste of money.
