My opinion is that you've got to find a highly competent realism tattooist and discuss your options with getting them re-worked.

That bad huh? Los Angeles.

Not BAD, but certainly not great. Large areas where it looks washed out and/or muddy, especially in the shading parts. 

I'm neither a LA or realism expert, but LA is worldwide one of the most concentrated areas for tattooists, so you're going to have plenty to choose from. Here's just a couple after just a quick search:

Talk to more than one and get a feel for who might be the most capable. Don't rush into it.
