Black vs. Color

I am wanting a colorful big lotus on my shoulder (will be my first tattoo), and am finding artists that I like although their work is almost all in black. Is an artist who is talented in black not necessarily skilled with color?

Also, I am in Colorado and would definitely appreciate artist recommendations

hi and welcome, IMO I would look for an artist that likes doing and does a lot of color work,

many black & gray artists are really good at B&G,that may be their primary type of work,

the same goes for a color specialist ,

Yep. Some are skilled in both - but certainly not necessary.

Colorado has TONS of great artists. What city specifically?

I wouldn't go to an artist that specializes in black and grey to get a color tattoo. Kind of like going to a proctologist because you have a cough. It doesn't mean they can't work on both ends, I just like specialists.
