Tattoo on head to cover scar

Hi guys. New to this forum so any advice and feedback is appreciated. Looking at getting a neck/head piece mainly to cover scar on back of head. Main worry is would you still notice the scar through the tattoo due to ink taking to scar differently (bleeding out or not taking as much as ink around it). ? Scar is around 15 yrs old and has turned white. Thanks or any advice.

It depends on the size and properties of the scar - but mostly with the experience the tattooist has working with scars.

This is what I’ll be trying to cover with a design and head shaved down to 0 guard. Do u think possible ?

no, but it certainly is possible. 

gotta find a reputable shop and a tattooist who is honest about the ability, tho. Do you know what style of tattoo you're interested in?

Just hope it covers the scar and don’t see anything different in that area.

Hey there....have realistic expectations going in and like @Dan said go with someone that has experience. Where are you located? I'd be willing to a) wait how long it took to get in with the artist and b) happily save my money for a kick ass tattoo.

From South Wales. It’s just the unknown of how it’s going to look because scar tissue I think is unpredictable and not seen anything online where someone has had it done which is making me more doubtful about it. Just don’t want to end up worse than am now. Thanks for reply.

I'm not familiar much with Welsh artists, but would be happy to vet some if you want to send links. Hell, London is only 3 hours away, right? You've got dozens of good options at your disposal . . .

All these won’t cover the scar

Scar will be visible in the gaps plus the ink will be swollen in the scar I would not recommend mandala or any patterns on the scar

These were only rough ideas for design for artist to work on. Hopefully he will design it in a way that pattern covers all of scar. Plus if scar is 15 yrs old wouldn’t it hold ink more stable ?

This is my worry with going over scar   .This is a tattoo I have on my arm that goes over a slight scar (booster injection) and you can see the difference and where ink has blurred out and has a shinny finish to it. Didn’t want this to be happening all along the back of head. ?

can't tell if the scar on your head has the same type of healing pattern as your arm. Definitely something to bring up during any consult you end up with - but with a geometric pattern like you're interested in - in the worst case the scar could be worked into/around the design.
