Tips for Becoming a Floor Guy / Shop Assistant

apologies if this has been covered in another thread, I couldn't find any-

 

I'd like to become a shop assistant at one of two shops I go to in NYC. Shop owners or those in the know: do you have any tips for me that could help in that pursuit? I do know that an ideal candidate does not want to become a tattooer (I don't.)

 

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd say, if that shop posts an opening for a shop assistant... apply! it doesn't matter how much you wanna work at the shop if they don't need you.

in the meantime, keep getting tattooed there!

Long hours and low pay are the best to get you a job in any tattoo shop. Some shops don't use an assistant at all, just another expense that makes up the overhead every month.
