Sailor jerry Japan

After seeing THE docu Hori Smoku About THE live of sailor jerry i'm really interested in his japanese work. For now i only found a few images online and really wanna see/know more.  Never thought i wanted a japanese piece, but now i do. So the question is who knows more? Are there books? Or are there more artists tattooing in this american/japanese style

Check out "Bushido: Legacies of Japanese Tattoos" and "Tattoos of the Floating World" - both by Ryudaibori and both very interesting primers on the subject of Japanese tattoos. He's more of a traditionalist than most but the background he gives is incredible.

Ed Hardy did a lot to popularize and refine that style so that's the next place to look. The Tattoo Time box set (reprints of the original magazine) has some stuff on Sailor Jerry I think
