SciGeek94
Looking to get a science themed tattoo and came across these designs for the forearm - which would look better in that space and survive better long term? a_beukeveld
Find a good local tattooer and ask them where it should go. Every artist is different, and different artists have different abilities, which is one of the biggest factors in how a tattoo will turn out in the end. Commit to getting the tattoo from them, show that you're serious and you'll get some good advice. Dont shop hop looking for ideas. Devious6
Welcome to the forum. I'll let the experts offer the advice other than to say that if there is one thing I've learned here...go large or go home. oboogie 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129811 Share on other sites
Gingerninja
I like the idea. I've seen cool caffeine and chocolate molecule tattoos! IMO, my concern is legibility over time. Maybe consider doing less and making it bigger so the line work holds over time. Go with what @a_beukeveld suggests...find an artist and talk to them. They'll point ya in the right direction! Me, I'd be looking for an artist that can nail lettering. Good luck! SciGeek94
Thanks - most people who have this tattoo (which isnt many) have the colored one which is more of a rendered piece of art based on the amino chain - i kinda like the bottom one because it is more genuine and im a bigger fan of black and white - my concern more than anything is the lettering Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129824 Share on other sites
Gingerninja
What does this mean? I'm curious! Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129827 Share on other sites
SciGeek94
This is a chain of amino acids - Each amino acid is symbolized by a letter and when the chain is linked together it spells out starstuff (real nerdy i guess) Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129830 Share on other sites
SciGeek94
Basically an ode to where we come from and where we are going - in my opinion Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129831 Share on other sites
otisc
I like the first two quite a bit. Definitely go in to an artist you trust and let that person help you with the perfect placement. What may look awesome on one person's arm in one place may look horrible on the exact same place of a different arm. SciGeek94
Im a bigger fan of the bottom one only because I like black better than color but i am afraid that the lines and letters might warp out over time Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129865 Share on other sites
SciGeek94
I spoke with the artist and it has come down to these two designs - i just have to figure out which would look best and which would best stand over time Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129905 Share on other sites

PinkUnicorn
Am I being too pedantic to have doubts about the concept because the hydrogen in amino acids doesn't come from stars, but instead dates back to the big bang? oboogie 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/7277-hello-new-to-the-site-need-some-advice/#findComment-129984 Share on other sites

Charles.M
Make it big and spiral the arm, this could be made sleeve(ish) big and be the tattoo that defines you apart from all others, (if you have the stones for it, lol). Also orange fades faster than any other color in my experience, so keep that in mind in your choice.
