work of a scratcher

Actually... the girl that has all of them is a good friend of mine and I am trying to convince her that her boyfriend is screwing with her skin!!

Now he is planning on trying a new one and I am trying to convince her to go to a professional shop!

Just taught that reading some reviews of her own tattoos will make her see my point.

Sorry if this is not the place for this post.

I will delete it if it is not for this forum.

Regards.

If it's her boyfriend, you aren't going to get her to listen. The work is shitty and awful, and you can tell her everyone think so, but she is involved with this guy and thinks he's the bee's knees. Nothing will convince her otherwise. It's sad.

The multicolored pimple thing on her arm is tragic. I don't even know what to say about that.

If these are all on one girl, then what good is getting her to go to a great shop now going to do? So she can get one awesome tattoo surrounded by crappy ones? Who is going to appreciate the really nice tattoo when she has permanent Willy Wonka track marks?

I disagree with this sentiment.  Those tattoos can be covered up or lasered off, and with the exception of her back, I don't think those would be especially difficult coverups.  They're mistakes, they're gross errors in judgement, but starting by getting shitty tattoos doesn't mean that you're stuck getting shitty tattoos forever.

Thank you all very much for your opinions and advice regarding the possibility of a cover up or laser off!

I strongly agree that if you get some shitty tattoos you don't necessarily have to settle with those shitty tattoos or continue the series of them.

I will show her your responses as promised and hopefully she will apreciate them as I do.

He can't even get her to consider going to a reputable business, how is he going to convince her to laser those atrocities off? I guess he is hoping to print out this thread and shame her into waking up... but seriously, I doubt it. If she already has these and is planning on getting more in the same style from the same person, more power to her.

That may very well be, but I would much rather try to contribute to a culture here that educates people about good tattoos and gives them the knowledge and resources to get those tattoos than I would just dismiss people because they have shitty tattoos and don't deserve better.  If I have nice tattoos it's because people were kind and generous to me when I didn't know a thing, on this forum and in the shops I've been tattooed in, and I would like to pay that forward.

I agree. I know I started off with some really bad tattoos and I'm sure I'm not the only one. That is one good thing that came from me spending all of my younger money on booze and drugs is that I did not get more bad tattoos than I did. Then I had kids to raise so when they grew up and i could spend money on myself again I had learned what good tattoos are and can be and now I have some fantastic pieces.

I know the person  with the tattoos didn't start the thread. And I'm not sure that I see tattoo shaming in any better light than slut shaming (or any shaming for that matter (except Trump shaming, that is totally legit)), but I think any opportunity for tattoo education can help people.

I wore some godawful tattoos for over 20 years so if I can be a part of helping someone to not go through that I think that is a good thing.

The purpose of this thread was purely educational. I was not searching for mean comments or any other comments that will hurt her feelings.

As a folow up, she really considered covering one of her tattoos, which was the multicoloured dots on her hand. So far so good... but due to the fact that she is involved with the scratcher...she chose HIM again fo this...

I don't even know what to say about this last one so I am just going to post it here and end this thread.

She will have my full supprt in the future if she will ever consider proffesional tattoo services.

Personally, i find then awful. What do you think?

This is not the way a "purely educational" thread is started.

To echo the sentiments above: lets focus on the good tattoos happening out there instead of shitting on others.

You're getting soft,@Graeme. Fatherhood will do that to you. (I like it.)
