In San Jose today - stuff to do, where to eat?

Getting my Monmon today and looking for something for mom to do around the area while she waits, and also looking for some ideas for tomorrow. Day trip or local activities. I want to limit the walking, but the tourist info I read doesn't look promising. Thinking of Winchester House at some point.

Woot!!! There are TONS of Japanese places in the immediate area. I recommend trying one near the shop. You might get lucky and see a bonsai show while you are there too. Don't have much advice aside from that. Maybe @Lance can chime in?

I don't have any advice on the area. We went to a sushi place up the street from our hotel that was pretty good, but I can't remember the name. While I was getting tattooed, @DJDeepFried took Stella to the children's museum, so, not really something your mom would probably be into. Sorry! :-)

@SeeSea, sorry I missed checking LST till now. I hope you were able to find something today in Japantown. Hukilau is pretty decent for hawaiian food and there's a Korean restaurant that's pretty good too. I can't remember the name however. Hope you found someplace to go though. In regards to things to do, I never went but Winchester House as you noted is an interesting place I hear. Also there's a ramen place called Orenchi (not in Japantown so you should yelp the location)that's supposed to be good. Taki painted the tables in the SF/Mission location.

I can't wait to hear how it went and to see your new cat.
