joakim urma
I love the aesthetics of books. Walls covered in bookshelves are the greatest thing ever. Homes should look like libraries. Yeah, I agree it looks great and is very inspiring. I love those kinds of spaces. But personally I don't feel the need to live that way, takes up too much space and also it's expensive both on the wallet and the planet. In my utopian mind sharing is the way to go: big, well stocked public libraries or/and (better yet, dreamers) people living in shared spaces (house, appartment building, street) sharing their books in common rooms. Onwards to a brighter future, comrades! Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/5564-post-your-book-collection/?page=2#findComment-102531 Share on other sites

Onwards to a brighter future, comrades! That would be nice, but I doubt any libraries in the communities I've lived in (less than 5000, down to less than 1000) would be stocking limited edition tattoo books. :p The thought of sharing said books with the assholes in an apartment complex makes me shudder! Most people don't properly look after stuff like books and CDs when they own them, let alone if it isn't theirs! joakim urma, tatB, Graeme and 1 other 4 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/5564-post-your-book-collection/?page=2#findComment-102537 Share on other sites
Pleadco
During our recent move into our new home, I got rid of a loooooottt of crap. It's frightening how much useless junk you can accumulate over a short time. As a result I've cut down on a lot of impulse spending and our house is less cluttered. That being said, I still hold on to my books (comics and otherwise), photos, paintings, and a few trinkets that hold personal meaning. @mmikaoj has some good points, but for those of us who are a little more settled, it's nice to have those pieces of our past to reflect on. Having things isn't just about consumerism, it's about being able to touch your past and revel in the associated emotions and memories. Sure, none of it is coming with us when we die, but at that point my son will get to enjoy my dog eared "The Tick" comics. MrToby
I am a massive fan of a good book. Over the years I have bought many of them. There is something about the aesthetic appeal of a well made book that I just prefer to looking at things on a computer screen. It's the same with music as well. I love vinyl. Anyway my list of books is as follows: Dentowaza - Kofuu-Senju Publications Mick - Kofuu-Senju Publications (Just got it yesterday - Such a good book) Ryushin - Kofuu-Senju Publications Osen - Kofuu-Senju Publications Osen II - Kofuu-Senju Publications Tattoo Time (Hardback Reissue) - Ed Hardy Tattoo Time Issue 1 (Original) - Ed Hardy JBxH3 Monmon Cats - Horitomo Bushido - Takahiro "Horitaka" Kitamura Studying Horiyoshi III - Jill "Horiyuki" Mandelbaum Tattoos of the Floating World - Takahiro "Horitaka" Kitamura Tattooing from Japan to the West - Takahiro "Horitaka" Kitamura I Love Tattoos - Takahiro "Horitaka" Kitamura Pushing Ink - Spider Webb Modern Primitives - 20th Anniversary Addition The Mammoth Book of Tattoos - Edited by Lal Hardy The Mammoth Book of Tattoo Art - Edited by Lal Hardy The Mammoth Book of New Tattoo Art - Edited by Lal Hardy Lost Art - Incognito Press Japanese Tattoo Designs - Ichibay Tattoo Showcase - Edited by Lal Hardy Vintage Tattoos - Carol Clerk Perseverance - Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World Horichiyo The Rose Book Myths, Gods and Legends - Adam Kitamoto Ade Volume 1 - Gomineko Press Wabori - Traditional Japanese Tattoo Time: Tattoo Art Today Horimasa Black Work Tattoo Art - Edition Reuss Tattoo in Japan - Edition Reuss Color Tattoo Art - Edition Reuss The Fingerwave Book - Grime/Toth Art by Tattooists: Beyond Flash Science Ink - Carl Zimmer I'm pretty sure that there are a couple more desides these but off the top of my head I cannot remember them for the life of me, and of course there are still more that I would like to buy one day. RoryQ
I'm waiting on bookcases for our front room so in the meantime things are mostly piled in the attic room. Tattoo-book wise this is it... 'Stab City' is the most recent. 'Eleven Fourteen' and the 'Spider Murphys' book are cool but from a collectors point of view my favourites are Shige's book, 'Underway is the only way' and 'Tattooing from Japan to the West'. Amazing interviews. MattB
Here's my tiny collection. I've only been collecting tattoo books for the last year. When I have enough cash I spend it on tattoos but I do sneak in a book purchase from time to time.
