Hi so I'm not exactly sure if you have to any kind of knowledge of tattoos to be on here, I seem to be the only tattoo virgin lol. But I'm 20 and I have a tattoo that I've wanted for a while I have been talking to an artist from my hometown and now I'm discouraged about getting it. It's a pretty detailed piece and I want it on my ribs (and yes I already know that's the most painful place to get one) but the artist said he didn't want to do it on my side because it might run together later in life. Is this a general rule; that detailed pieces shouldn't go on your ribs? I am so set on this and I have been for a while, not so much the exact detail but the placement definitely.

Nothing personal, but a side tattoo on a girl - always sexy. ;-)

But... Maybe if you plan to get pregnant one day, that might stretch (and ruin) the tattoo? Don't know if it's so, definitely first hand experience here somewhere!

If an image is too condensed(and that is lossely up to the individual tattooer) as the pigment ages in your skin, it is will tend to blure lines and such. Your tattooer is going to be in the absolute best position to make this call, but to answer your question, yes, as a tattoo ages it will spread slightly.
