suburbanxcore
For those of us into neatly categorizing and wrapping up the year, I thought this may be a good place to discuss music of 2013. What did you find yourself listening to most? I suppose it'd be proper form for me to start. 1. Self Defense Family – Try Me 2. Restorations – LP2 3. Touche Amore – Is Survived By 4. Comadre – s/t 5. Mark Kozelek and Desertshore – s/t 6. Paint it Black – Invisible (generally I do EPs separate, but this is too good) 7. Into It. Over It. – Intersections 8. A Wilhelm Scream – Partycrasher 9. Iron Chic – The Constant One 10. Deafheaven – Sunbather edit: I also just realized there's a typo in the subject line. Damnit. Graeme
My Bloody Valentine - m b v I don't know if I've really listened to anything else that was released in 2013. For a good part of the year I was pinching pennies to pay for tattoos and that made my budget for buying music basically nothing. Maybe I'll try to come up with a list of the records I was most into regardless of release date. suburbanxcore, JAllen and CultExciter 3 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/4584-top-ten-record-of-2013/#findComment-81278 Share on other sites
JAllen
@Graeme, same here. Tried to come up with moving money all year so if I did buy anything it was used and super cheap. I was going to do a list of what I played as well. HaydenRose
I was intending new records of 2013, but that seems to have gone over like a lead balloon. Haha. Yay! I was right! Well I like albums FROM 2013 better because I'm always on the hunt for new music. I get too comfortable with my "oldies". suburbanxcore
@HaydenRose For sure. Don't get me wrong, I listen to plenty of old records, but I'm always on the lookout for new stuff. And despite what people say, there's always good new music coming out. bugxjuice
I barely heard enough new records this year to make a top 10 list, so I'll just post what stuck out the most: Milk Music - Cruise Your Illusion LP After Dark 2 3xLP (Italians Do It Better compilation) Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/4584-top-ten-record-of-2013/#findComment-81347 Share on other sites
Delicious
Hmmm honestly, for the most part I don't listen to whole albums, just the songs I like off of them. But for me, I bought two albums this year. They were that good to me. Dont hate, but they were Ceremonials by Florence and The Machine, and Save Rock and Roll by Fall Out Boy. I know quite a few people hate Fall Out Boy, but this album is actually really good. Now if we were talking best albums of a lifetime, in my top would be the self titled Emarosa album, but it's over 4 years old. The soundtrack of my last two years of high school. suburbanxcore
Nothing wrong with any of the Wu-affiliated records going on here. Good stuff, @Graeme! and @CultExciter, I haven't heard that Red Hare record, but I liked em when I saw them in the summer. A lot of other cool stuff on your list, too! JAllen
@CultExciter, that el-p/killer mike might be the heaviest thing on your list! Heard a couple tracks on it.
