Tom-

Tim Hendricks was recently asked to recommend two Irish tattoo shops on Twitter, and I'd probably agree with his responses (if we exclude Belfast shops, at least).

In Dublin 'Classic Ink' on Crow St. is probably the best bet for traditional stuff. The guys in there paint a lot of their own flash- worth having a look at. I haven't been tattooed by the guys in there, but Oliver Peck did a guest spot in there recently and I ended up dropping in for that - it was a cool shop.

Outside Dublin if you are prepared to get on the train or drive down to Limerick you've got Ross Nagle in 'Allstar Tattoo'. He has been knocking it out of the park lately, super bright and distinct traditional style stuff. Gets a lot of guest artists, he's had Chad Koeplinger, Tim Pausinger, Grant Cobb etc in the past.

I went to Classic in January with my fiancee, and we got tattooed by Wal (if i recall his name correctly). super cool shop, cool dudes, and all the art in the back area distract from any pain.

and, since she's from Limerick, i got a big tattoo while there from Ulrich Hueber, who recently opened his own shop... i think it's called High on Ink. at the time, he was at a shop called Bullman's Tattoo Studio, which puts out good work as well.

Oh come on! 5 million people in this state! I ain't no FIB!

What can I say, I'm not conversant with many shops in this area, but 99.999% of the ones I have seen I wouldn't let ink numbers on my dogs belly. That's just my .02, and I'm sure there are quality shops out there, I just haven't seen them.

Example. I'm eating lunch in my regular spot the other day, and the waitress notices I'm favoring my side, asks if I have some fresh work. I show her the piece Nick did-picture in the June Tattoo Competition thread, and she proceeds to tell me about the new "shop" she and her hubby are building in the basement of their house for her bro-in-law to work out of. It's in Illinois, barely, so I asked her about licenses, inspections, all of that, and she said they "didn't bother with any of that".

Pretty much sums it up for this area.

This cracked me up a bit as I just had an similar experience only a couple of hours ago. A friend and I were sitting and approached by an older tattooed guy (had some real old stuff on one arm and some other newer stuff) who asked about our tattoos. I told him I was getting more soon and he said he knew of a "great shop" right down the street. He said to go to this barber shop and ask to get tattooed. It is upstairs and behind a divider of some kind. He then proceeds to show us the new work he got done. Paraphrasing: "It's a good place, much cheaper than all of these other shops. I got a bit of an infection but he's real good and cheap". I saw work and it was not good and it had a pretty nasty infection brewing. Mind you we where down the street from Invisible NYC. It was kinda sad because he had an awesome real old eagle on his forearm, but I guess some people don't know what to look for.

Anyone here who can recommend an artist in Melbourne, Australia? Im looking for an artist who specialises on oriental dragon tattoo.

This first one that comes to mind is Ten-Ten Tattoo. I'm not very familiar with Australia, so someone with a little more knowledge will have to reply.

I believe everyone at Ten-Ten specializes in Japanese style tattooing.

Well said, Jake!

And I'm with you, I never saw Miami Ink, but that's cause my husband said that if I recorded it, he'd cancel the cable and throw the TV in the street. Otherwise I might've watched an episode or two. Everyone slows down when driving past an accident, right?

I did manage to watch a few episodes of Miami Ink. It wasn't exactly mind-bending television, but it wasn't terrible, either. Pros and cons, right? Yeah! People got to see amazing artists doing amazing things! Boo! They think they need to tell their tattooer their sad, sad, story.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

So funny Dari------ My husband hates when I watch these shows!

Hey all I am traveling to Chicago for a friend's gallery opening on Friday, June 7th. I am trying to get something tattooed when I am out there (Thur. June 6th arriving at 1 and leaving Sat. June 8th at 1). There is such a great group of artists in Chicago, but now I need to find someone who can take on an out of town appointment on short notice! I am just looking to get something done that said artist would enjoy doing and the chance to shake some hands and see whats up in the windy city

Throw out some names if you get a second, or shit if you tattoo in Chicago, do you have any openings. Thank you in advance
