Pretty excited FOR you! How long was his waitlist? Eventually I'm going to plan a trip down south to austin whenever I'm visiting fam back in OK.

@beez I highly recommend it. Steve and Toney were both real cool. I will also speak with Thomas If he is not busy. I had a tentative appt with him in 2011 or 2012 In austin( before he joined ROA.) He did a huge mural on his visit instead of tattoos.

@misterJ <laughs> to your local artists response to getting your knee done. When I told mine what I wanted done on front of my knees, he just nodded and said that will hurt, meanwhile when told him what wanted done on back of knees...that got a reaction! lol He said and I quote 'that will fucking hurt' will look good, but fucking hurt!" Just thought different tattooist's reactions was amusing. Mind you I am not long up <winks>

Going to Michigan next month for a family reunion type deal and managed to squeeze in an appointment with Michael Aul. Funny thing, he'll be in Denver within the next couple weeks so of course when I said I was calling from Colorado he thought I wanted to set something up at Lifetime.

The only upshot to not being able to climb Rainier this year because of an injury is that I can now go ahead and get tattoos again. July 31st. Greg's never done a morph before, but I was talking about how I wanted one, and he jumped right on it. Probably gonna involve a dragon. I can't wait! ...I have no idea where we're putting it.

Ha! You know, as laid back as I've been about going into things half-blind and just seeing what happens, I don't think I could do that with a back piece. We've been tossing around rough ideas about that, though.

I have been talking about getting an old tribal tattoo covered for years and I am finally going to get that done this Friday. I had been bouncing between a panther vs wolf, both with daggers for some time now. I decided on getting a wolf/dagger combo and then letting the artist decided on anything else needed to cover the tattoo. I asked him to either add a snake, roses or really anything he saw fit. I will post up some pictures Friday.

sounds like it is going to be a great tattoo! which artist did you decide on going to?

Horiyoshi - This is supposed to be a Geisha/Pheonix. Has anyone ever seen this before or know any more about it?

Sigh. That guy made me want to get tattooed for the first time when I was a teenager. He is definitely my tattoo Missed Connection.

And: nope. It does link back to his official site though, and is apparently called Dancing With Wings.

Also, this is probably not the right thread for it, just as a heads-up, but I dunno where I'd put it. Maybe in the art and flash sub-forum. Good luck searching!

Went Monday to get my Celtic warrior on my inner/front bicep. First stencil was too small, but artist had concerns about placement of something bigger (i.e. distortion about wrapping it around to the front). Had the idea to move the small one higher to front shoulder-cap/upper arm, but stencil didn't look right there to me (I have an existing piece we are working around and some other things I want to get in the same area so there are some planning considerations). Process had me 2nd guessing the design. Re-looked at first placement with bigger size and artist seemed to reconsider his first thought, but was concerned about time left in the day to do it right. Mutually decided to postpone getting it then.

Hoping to go back next Monday afternoon, but still need to confirm. Kind of bummed, but better than being bummed after the fact.

Larger and placement towards the front was what I was looking for initially, but I'm a bit concerned I won't like it at that point either once the stencil's on and given how long I've thought through what I want, that's disappointing. We'll see I guess.
