Upcoming Tattoos

I've eased off quite a bit and wasn't planning on picking up anything until the end of the summer after I return from vacation with the family. However, just saw where Tomas Garcia will be working a few days at Acme Tattoo this summer. I plan on setting up something with him (hopefully it doesn't happen while I am on vacation).
Booked with Tomas for July during his guest spot at ACME Tattoo. I'm pretty stoked.

When this one heals will call in to book next one. Seems to be how I'm doing things now and it's working out well. Will be in Belfast again early June, so will call in then to book it. Next will be a filler, in between portrait of H R Giger and Tyrael with Giger wings. Talking about doing something behind Tyrael as well and, yes will be in Giger style.

Nice to see youre still going strong. The damage to your house wasnt that bad?

@rufio, Thanks. This is something I had budget it so its not affecting me. The damage to the house was bad but mostly covered by insurance. Roof work starts in about 3 weeks or so.

The rest I am doing on my own like fixing the fence and front door, etc...

I hope this is okay to post here but here is a pic of my first tattoo that I got yesterday! I am beyond happy about it and thought that the process of getting it was not bad at all. Here is a link to the guy who tattooed me because I feel he needs to be recognized for his work! https://nicholasrobertmoore.wordpress.com/ Let me know what you guys think of my tattoo everyone.

Nice tattoo! Already completed tattoos should go in to Latest Tattoo Lowdown - yours isn't really "Upcoming" anymore ;)

Wasn't sure where to put this question, but since it pertains to a theoretical future tattoo I figure it won't look out of place here.

This is going to sound ridiculous. But here goes.

Does a border, or filler if you want to call it that, need to be logically consistent with the image it surrounds? Like, tattoos of eagles are often bordered by bubble clouds. That makes sense because eagles are often found in the sky. Same with waves and koi fish. The connection is apparent.

But what if I got, say, a reaper tattoo, and it was surrounded by drops of blood? The obvious question would be: where's the blood coming from? Is the reaper wounded? Do the dead even bleed?

Does that stuff matter, or is it enough that it looks cool?

@JasonTO I'd say with your example, just go for it! Sounds associative and good to put blood next to a reaper, maybe there is blood on his scythe. I've seen it many times, it can look just right.

On a personal note I can really enjoy when things that don't seem to fit together are tattooed next to eachother. In my head it creates this strange dynamic synergy effect and all sorts of makeshift associations open up. That's part of the fun with smaller tattoos in my opinion. Over time you will see how the "interpretation" of compositions and individual tattoos change or get more complex, depending on how you change and the things you learn.
