Anybody here gamble?

I used to gamble a lot more but I just kind of stopped. Last big gamble was on the Vikings/Dallas playoff game. Vikings stomped 'em and I made 5 grand.

I guess the most I lost was 7 grand in an Indian casino. I was thrown off the floor for being a "problem gambler."

I'm even moneywise on gambling. That is something everybody says and for 90+ percent of people its bullshit but for me its true.

Gamblers Anonymous helped me get over it but I still need small stakes poker and Magic: The Gathering to keep from going off the rails. Just wondering. I play micro stakes poker a lot. Never really make or lose anything. I guess I make a dollar an hour? Woo. Beats making iPads. Am I dry drunk gambler?

Apart from the National Lottery, no. I work as a fraud analyst in the banking sector. Part of my job entails monitoring visa card spend. The amount of people I see that are caught up in online betting is pretty scary. A never ending financial nightmare of payday loans (at 3000% interest) followed by betting transactions. These people usually end up going into an authorised overdraft situation. To pile on the misery we hit them with bank charges. I also see some customers who are professional gamblers, but these are few and far between. These people do it for a living not to feed an addiction.

I don't know much about gambling addiction but I've lived with a alcoholic and it's not fun.

Good to hear you got over the worst of it but don't you think what you are doing could eventually get out of control?

I lived in Vegas for 13 years and I've heard your story many times. Like an alcoholic, the best way to be free is to abstain from the vice. I've heard too many times how people say they are even. All I can say is the Casinos are not paid for with the House's money. Good luck on taming the demon!!!!

i enjoy the game of texas hold 'em, but i don't really play for big stakes. i'd rather play a friendly home game for $5 or $10 with friends than risk $100 or $200 at a casino. if i could invest time and money into getting good and make it so that 1 or 2 hundred isn't really getting put "at risk" but more so an investment, i'd play more often... but there's never really any sure bets. there's always someone better, with more money and more balls to chase and catch. kinda fuels that hate in the love/hate relationship of poker. it's easier when there's less at risk and you're losing to your buddies.

Texas Hold 'Em... I call it Texas Scrotum since it has practically ruined poker. Any douchebag can learn it quick and they all think they should play at home like those staged TV shows depict it. But I do good against those guys.. so if a game breaks out at a party.. I'm all over it. Most games start with a $20 buy in for chips and you get cashed out at the end. Dealer's choice is good since I can get them all to play a hand of 7-card stud or standard 5-card draw.

I used to go to AC (Atlantic City) with my bro inlaw's 90 year old neighbor to play poker. This guy taught me a lot about the game. We'd go in to play at the same table and not let on that we knew each other. I did okay.. he always came home with a lot of loot. The home games are a lot of fun, agree that it's better to play with friends and the total stake is maybe $120 with 5 or 6 guys playing.

Sounds like the scene in Rounders when Ed Norton gets outa prison and all the players at the table said they might as well have played a home game... then a couple fish show up.

5 or 6 friends is a perfect size... especially if they all know what they're doing.

HORSE is pretty fun, but it racks your brain and Razz is such a bitch.

I started learning like when I was in kindergarten... Dad needed someone to play with during the weekdays when he couldn't go to the casino.. Leaned 5 card and 7 card draw first, then Texas Hold'em later on when my dad started playing it... Now I don't even touch a deck unless it's too play go fish.

My grandmother taught us poker and other card games, some I forget now. We played poker in the summer in my front yard in the shade.. for pretzel sticks. Sometimes the kids from next door came over to play. Basic poker... 5 card draw, deuces wild. It was a lot of fun.

I only do friendly games, AC was okay since it had some structure to it and things never got out of hand. Play... cash in (maybe) and go home. We played couples poker too, husband and wife teams. My wife is a good player so we won our share.

that's awesome! my wife literally just learned, so she's one of those people ruining the game! hahahhaha... if she plays in my friends and fam game, i have an unfair advantage because i can read her like a book... sets up my stack to be able to mess around with the rest of the table.

Guess I'm too old-school when it comes to poker. If all you know is texas scrotum.. I mean hold 'em, you have no perspective. Get some time in the game you might see what I mean about it. Even my wife prefers straight up games like 5-card draw, acey-deusey, etc.

The only thing I resent about Hold 'Em is that is has killed stud poker.

No doubt about it. The game is too easy to learn and everyone wants to play it. TV has made it worse with the douchebag drama that goes with it. I will play it and do very well with it... often absurd things like a pair of 3's take the pot. And don't try a weak bluff on someone who has been playing stud and draw poker for 40 years.

I can't believe that someone still doesn't know about a very cool website https that hosts the top and best online casinos. This place is suitable for absolutely everything, so I highly recommend it as the best way to relax and earn some extra money.

I can't believe you posted this crap ! so I highly recommend you just go away with your relaxing spam $HIT and earn some extra money at some other online site.

If you enjoy playing at online casinos, I have a game changer for you: Casino Analyzer. It's been my go-to for locating reputable casinos and learning about payment options.

Have you ever played at an echeck casinos by any chance? On Casino Analyzer, I discovered several fantastic possibilities. Withdrawals and deposits have never been easier. It's like striking the convenience jackpot! So, if you're looking for a dependable casino experience, give it a try. Everyone has a great time gaming!

I used to be really into it, but I've recently slowed down. Last huge victory was on the Vikings/Dallas playoff game - they smashed 'em and went away with $5,000.  I've had my fair share of losses, including losing $7,500 at an Indian casino. I was booted out because I was a "problem gambler." Balanced things out, though - pretty about even in terms of money overall.
