I know High on Fire is playing this year... and Motorhead.

But Id rather not go.

I've been going since the first year, it's really cheap (usually pay 15-20 bucks for the Camden show) but it seems that they are getting worse and worse with the lineups as the years progress. While I'd rather prefer to go to a local smaller show (just say Absu play in Brooklyn), can't beat a day of drinking with some metal. Seems this year they dropped the whole tons of bands though, and now just have a handful. I wanna go to see Slayer and Motorhead.

Nice Toxic Holocaust video @<a href="http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/member.php?u=260" target="_blank">JAllen</a>

probably one of my current favorite bands (metal), them and black breath.

new black breath out next week

off their first full length

but most of last year i listened to lots of sludge and doom and black metal. it goes really well with having to do yard work.

Black metal 101 with Darkthrone's Fenriz. He did a pretty good job with this one, but warning it is long, but worth it. While I pretty much knew everything before watching this, still nice to see all the history put out there by a very influential person (in the genre).

@slayer9019, thanks for posting those. good stuff, kinda surprised that he didn't mention any of the swedish black metal bands that had started around the same time as the bands in norway. marduk, abruptum, and dissection. at least those 3 i think are important parts for the history. absu was probably the first american band of that second wave which i think is important because they were doing the same type of thing but without any real "scene" to speak of in the states. i am glad that he mentioned possessed though.

Yea there are a few gaps but there is also a lot to cover and you have to "find the edge" and keep it focused to a degree. I know Fenriz is one of the (if not really the only) black metal guy that actual does a ton of intelligent interviews and seems to love telling his opinion music. I have seen other interviews he's done touch on all the missing topics. He did a black metal vs death metal and if I am remembering correctly he spoke about BM in Europe and how it relates to American BM. (Oh yea and fuckin Absu is intense, just saw them a few months ago in Brooklyn).

While I brought up documentrary's on black metal, let me just drop em all right here to get em out of the way, and also provide interested people with a good 2 days worth of shit to watch if they find themselves bored. One that is missing that I liked a bit is "Before the Light Takes Us". Buy the DVD. Some of these videos are the the best or most "accurate" but I guess its all shitty opinion.

Im really really really really enjoying the fuck out of the new high on fire. Been a fan of matt pike for a long time (since sleep ruined my fertile brain) and I enjoyed the last 2 high on fire albums but FUCK this one is back hard. "10 fucking skulls" or maybe 10 skulls fucked.

Not huge on metal but Mastodon fucking rules.. (at least the first few)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AInrnjznL0&feature=relmfu

also Lamb of God on occasion and that fucking Nachtmystium album fucking kills.

I saw mastodon in Orlando with cursive and against me (odd fucking mix). I had no idea mastodon was playing or prepared for metal. Me and my friends thought against me were up next so we got in the middle of the crowd. The curtains went up and fucking mastodon ripped us all a new one. Pit broke out right where we are and we all got our asses kicked unexpectedly. It was chaos
