Amok
Well I've only had my back and chest done but the back was no problem for me (well it still hurt but was bearable). I sat for 6 hours straight at one stage. My chest however was fine on the left side, but the right side was more painful. Same artist, about the same sized tattoo as the other side, but for some reason it was more intense. I started sweating right away and was pretty much watching the clock throughout the whole tattoo (bad idea). Graeme
@McNeil It looks awesome if that's any consolation? You look like you've just been through a war though. Heidi
Strange how an area that should be accustomed to sensation/pain (the palm) hurts so bad. I don't intend to get hand tattoos so I'll never find this out for myself though. Upstart
Alot of these sound mega tasty on the pain scale... for me on my leg sleeve has got to be on the archillies (cant spell) tendon.... sweaty palm moment for sure! posterboy7596
There's an Ed Hardy documentary on netflix. Maybe the best line from the whole thing is what he says about what hurts the most. His answer, "the tattoo you're getting right now". slayer9019, Graeme, Adam Elkins and 1 other 4 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/186-most-painful-spot-to-get-tattooed/?page=13#findComment-45795 Share on other sites
Shoey
I found it quite easy to be able to get my feet tattooed, but what has really sucked so far is my elbow ditch in my arm, during my sleeve. I can guarantee many future tattoos will be more painful, but that's that for now. - - - Updated - - - Strange how an area that should be accustomed to sensation/pain (the palm) hurts so bad. bobbyji48
Inside upper arm so far. But I only have pieces on my arms and lower leg. ksp2001
I second, or third, or whatever the inside upper arm, near the arm pit. I did the right inside upper arm and then the left the very next day and it killed me. Got thru it though and now every where else is a breeze. glynne
I tattooed my foot a while back. The top was OK & the ink went in so beautiful & looks amazing now. But the sides of the feet really hurt. I almost didnt finish it, but I stuck it out & wrapped it up. mattmcclaintattoo
my worst was my cry baby on my palm or my hipbones when i got my front outlined in the groin area, the literal worst spots ive ever felt Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/186-most-painful-spot-to-get-tattooed/?page=13#findComment-48143 Share on other sites
Lance
I think I mentioned somewhere once that getting my butt worked on wasn't all that bad, well...I change my mind. That's over the top awful. Shading isn't bad, but having it outlined is horrible. Previously the artist outlined and shaded my right side for my backpiece, now she's starting on the left. This time I was squirming through the whole process. My body would just twitch involuntarily. That said it'll be nice when it's finished. It's odd walking around knowing you've one bum cheek completely covered in black and the other pale as the full moon ;-) hogg, Duffa and writerAZ 3 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/186-most-painful-spot-to-get-tattooed/?page=13#findComment-48148 Share on other sites
Dennis
The worst I've experienced (so far) is my foot followed by the back of my calf. I found the shin and inner bicep fairly easy though! I've heard lots of people dislike getting the shin tattooed. Pugilist
I can't speak authoritatively to the claims re: shitty spots in this thread as I'm not that covered, but working on a mini-backpiece (ends around my hips), I have been surprised how much I find the hips/upper butt far, far, far (far!) worse than my ribs. And I haven't even felt any real butt action (pun intended). sylvirawr
I'm not heavily covered yet or anything but I have an Air Force plane on my calf and the top wing kind of is on the inside of my knee and fuuuuck it killed so bad Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/186-most-painful-spot-to-get-tattooed/?page=13#findComment-48522 Share on other sites
lving4today
Not looking forward to my chest coming up, but I'm taking every precaution. A good nights sleep, protein packed breakfast and most important: no alcohol. A good nights sleep, protein packed breakfast and most important: no alcohol. I feel your pain, and I'm going to again. I'm getting a Hanna Mask chest panel as part of my sleeve and during the outline there were a few spots that were really painful. I only had the outline done and am going back 11/5/12 for the color. Lance
I do have to say getting my ass tattooed was not bad at ALL! Very weird.... ...so for you it's not "a deep and searing pain that lasts for days, a memory that lasts a lifetime.". Ha ha! Good on you! I think maybe I was really excited to get my backpiece added to the first time so my adrenalin was pumping. The last time however I knew what to expect so I psychologically made it worse. Funny how attitude can affect you. I have to learn your zen techniques next time around.
