We did it last year and enjoyed it so lets do it again this year.....

What are your projections for the most popular tattoos of 2012?

Here are my top three 2012 Tattoo Idea guesstamations:

1) Animal morphs

2) English Roses

3) Traditional Tattoos

I expect to see, but know I won't enjoy seeing: bad tattoo versions of sixties/seventies style artwork.

Greg Irons, Dave Mann, Rick Griffin, Ed Roth etc.

I hope I'm wrong...

Oh yeah, we'll see more Mayan stuff.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this over Christmas so I was glad to see it as a new thread here. My prediction is much like Stewart's. I think that there will be a lot of 60's, 70's, and early eighties stuff. Greg Irons, Jack Rudy, and Mike Malone. Especially Malone. He has so much great flash out there, and it is well drawn. I think that people are getting tired of the over simplification of tattoos. The American Traditional resurgence has gotten so simplified that it is losing its visual power. Malone will be the new Higgs.

script on achilles heel and the side of the foot seems to be popular. crosses....all the time. and upside down wrist script seems to not be slowing down. less stars though definitely. lots of chicks have been wanting tattoos on the sides of their finger, not sure what thats about.

Palms. And those dang burning churches that are all getting progressively worse since they're copies of copies.

Ha, good call. Mayan-themed is the new cosmic skull.. especially over at that little cosmic factory known as Three Kings.

you're not going to be, Stewart. I can totally see the biker stuff coming back; post ironic and all that noise.

Fine line Traditional, and American Biker Jap. Because all the cool tat bros that were Old Timey, or Doom metal are now Custom Biker dudes.

Maybe it'll get tossed in a blender and be old timey doom metal biker antique collectors?
