My first tattoo I did was small simple lines I washed once a day and applied lotion a couple of times a day and it scabbed up and faded. Then I got my second tattoo a phoenix on my calf and I washed it once a day, applied Currel lotion to it four times a day, kept it out of the sun, didn't leave it in water everything I thought I should have been doing and it scabbed up real bad and now six months later it looks like there is a little bit of fade and I may have to get it touched up. I have a full rib piece that I just started the lining I washed it, put lotion, did all the same and after a week and a half it still scabbed up and I'm nervous that the same thing that happened to my phoenix will happen to my new piece, is there something I'm missing? I'm going in soon to get my shading started and would like to know what anyone would suggest for sensitive and easiliy scabbed tattoo skin? All advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you're over-caring for it. I wash it good once on the day of and use a really thin layer of lotion (Aquaphor is good) and leave it alone as much as possible. In the shower, I try to avoid getting it too wet other than allowing some soapy water to just run over it. I definitely never wash the tattoo by itself (other than the first day) since it's basically a wound. Everyone's different though and you'll eventually find what works for you.

Also, do you have any photos of how it faded? A lot of times when people start getting tattooed ––*and I'm sure I was guilty of this, too –– you may not realize that a healed tattoo will look different from a fresh tattoo and doesn't mean you need touch-ups. There's a super lengthy after care thread that might help (or it'll just confuse you more hahaa).

Any chance we can see a picture for better feedback?

Are all the tattoos by the same person?

I got plenty of bad tattoos when I first started getting tattooed by not very good tattooers and my healing process with those ones sound very similar to your posting....just trying to possibly help....
