Brock Varty
I have a former neighbour who seems to be doing pretty well for himself--if you count gallery showings, publications, etc., as an indicator of "doing pretty well"--doing exactly that and calling it art. Doesn't mean that it isn't complete and utter flash-in-the-pan garbage though. It is art. Art as in what follows the F in fart. In all seriousness, it is art, just complete drivel, horseshit. polliwog
^ Love those. Quilts and Color comes to the MFA in Boston next week. A lot of what excites me most in art can be found in stuff like textile design, so I'm really psyched about this. Need more tattoos that look like quilts. irezumi and Graeme
Electric i
My lady is an artists (not the tattoo kind, unfortunately) and here are a couple of my favorites. Edited April 3, 2014 by Electric i Wanted to display the art, not provide links to a sales page. irezumi, Zillah and Snydcat
polliwog
Just a head's up for anyone passing through New England soon: Hokusai | Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
exume
Speaking of Hokusai, has anyone else seen all the original woodblock prints @gominekobooks has been selling on Instagram? I can't really afford any right now and the really cool ones sell in minutes but keep an eye open if you want a cool piece of art history for your wall. polliwog
I can highly recommend the Hokusai exhibit - I went today and didn't give myself nearly enough time. If anyone's traveling from points north to the Perseverance exhibit this summer, it would be well worth a detour to Boston.
